  1. Thanks for the info. I'll update on Tuesday after they tell me what the heck is wrong this time.
  2. Just received my 3rd new radio since I had my Journey. Maps now work again (for how long???). I noticed on my drive home from the service center that the manual buttons that turn on the AC unit and read window defogger no longer worked. They worked on the display touch screen but not as manual buttons. In addition the temperature up and down were also screwed up, one would only raise the temperature and the other would only lower the temperature. This had not happened after the first or second replacement radio and I was curious if anyone else experienced this. I now have another appointment (my 7th I believe) to have this looked at on September 12. Truly becoming one big pain as I have to schedule these after work.
  3. I found this out when it updated the radio not the GPS. I have to get a new radio, went yesterday to show them the error message. I called Garmin today to see if they have a fix and although they admitted hearing about this issue there is no fix other than replace. I found the extended warranty and of course after being told by the sales manager about the cost of the radio and the need for an extended warranty, I read nowhere are electronics covered. 15K before 1st failure and another 9 K for the second. R65 was for the radio apparently and not the fix to the GPS. I have a site that I can apply for a reimbursement for issues like this and if I find out that they will not replace the radio at some point, I will have to use this site. I tried to copy the site here but it would not work. moparownerconnect.com is the URL. Thanks again
  4. Just as an update, I downloaded 2 Uconnect Updates that were available for my DJ after I input my VIN. I have them on a memory stick and will upload the updates to my radio/Nav system this weekend. I will eventually be getting a new unit after I bring it to the service people on Monday.
  5. I was well aware of the limitations and it was taken in to account. it came equipped with a transmission cooler and the trailer I towed was only 11 feet long and around 1,800 lbs unloaded. We didn't put more than 100 lbs in it and it was only two people. I went over steep grades, granted only doing 40 to 45 MPH and over a 10,000 foot climb over the Big Horn mountains but it responded very well. I constantly monitored all of the temperatures and they were all where they should be. I was quite concerned with the transmission temperature but that also proved to be no issue. There do not appear to be any issues with the way the vehicle fared over this trip and is running perfectly now. If it handled that trip then trips to closer states in the east should be no problem. Thanks for your input and if I had posted prior to my trip and read your comments I might have had third thoughts as I already had my own second thoughts.
  6. I outfitted my towing ready Crossroad with a Reese hitch with a 2" ball, rated for 4,000 lbs. The SUV has a transmission cooler and as I had the package that would show you oil pressure, oil temperature, water temp, and transmission temp, I was concerned that my towing an 1,800 lb. hard body trailer would be too much for it. Although the MPG was horrible 11 to 13 MPG, that has to be balanced against the mountains and high winds you encounter going cross country, via RT 90 to Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Glacier National park. We drove 6,600 miles and I was impressed that the 283 HP six cylinder could handle it. I do not have any more concerns with handling towing. A topic for this might exist but I didn't fell like going through 39 pages looking for one. If you have any questions about our trip and the way the Journey handled please write back.
  7. I don't know who you are but thank you very much for your response. I will now look at the recall you refer to. Thanks again my friend.
  8. I have a 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad with the 8.4" Garmin Navigation system. I've had it about 1 year. In May, 2016 I noticed the following message on my display when I hit the Nav button. "Can't unlock Maps" , I hit the OK button and then received the following message "Detailed maps are required for routing. No detailed maps were found on this unit". I called my dealer and made an appointment, They looked at it for a second and said, the radio had to be replaced. 3 weeks later I got a new radio in time for my cross country trip in July. It worked perfectly until last weekend when the same messages appeared. I called and told the dealer the messages had reappeared and offered to send them pictures. They asked how many miles were on the car, I told them it made no difference as I purchased the extended warranty when the dealer manager told me when I was completing the purchase that to replace the navigation system would cost $3,400. I then purchased the extended warranty. The dealer rep told me that the extended warranty did not cover the radio/navigation system. It told her what I was told by the dealer's manager. They then told me to come in and that they had to visually see the radio before they could replace the radio. I will be bringing it in on August 22, 2016. I fully expect to have this happen again, 2 times in 3 months? That points to a problem with their system but curiously enough repeated searches through Google did not reveal a known problem, only an occasional issue. Can anyone share a similar concern past the first replacement of their radio? Thanks.
