  1. I spoke to my mechanic and he told me the cross member, where it is circle in green and runs up to the front of the car (vertical bar), you can jack it up from there
  2. Yeah I'll take it as a learning experience. Some parts better to get locally/dealership even if it costs a little more.
  3. So I took it to my mechanic today and I asked him to test drive it and lift the vehicle up. He confirmed the problem was the CV Shaft itself, not a great aftermarket one (Brand is Empire). I also stupidly threw out my OLD ORIGINAL cv shaft . Now I'm going to have to go through the process of a warranty exchange/return with RockAuto. Thanks for the help guys.
  4. So I ended up taking off all four wheels and replacing the metal clips from the calipers. In my front, 2 were missing on each side while my rears had everything. But as I would move the brake pads I can hear the rusty clips so I replaced all of them as well. I checked out the suspension and drive train and pulled on each component making sure they were sturdy. I think my problem might be related to the outer tie road, cv shaft which I just recently did. I also did an alignment a couple weeks later, but I noticed this noise way before that so I'm going to call up my mechanic to get this resolved
  5. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vuf510ub3lz8vt8/Untitled.png?dl=0 Here is a pic under the journey in more details. If I were to jack somewhere near the green, it should be fine and safe raising the vehicle correct, thus lifting both wheels?
  6. Hey guys, Was looking through workshop-manuals.com for the Journey to find appropriate lifting points to lift the entire front wheels or rear wheels up. Anyways, I would previously just jack it up on the sides of the rail and stick jack stands at the pinch welds. But it gets pretty inconvenient to do it twice. Essentially want to find a jack lift point, jack that lift point up once and throw in 2 jack stands at the sides of the vehicle so that I don't have to lift the vehicle twice to put on jack stands. For example, on a Honda its pretty easy to do so as the clearly tell you a spot to jack up to raise both wheels. On top of that the journey's front end is pretty wide, so the lower control arm is far away from the front of the vehicle. http://workshop-manuals.com/dodge/journey_fwd/v6-3.5l/maintenance/vehicle_lifting/component_information/service_and_repair/ ^^ On this link, where it shows the (3) it says to jack it up there to lift the entire vehicle? Where do you guys put your floor jack to lift the vehicle ?
  7. Well if that's the case I'll do it today. Good thing I bought it yesteday! Thanks a lot.
  8. When I move the boot side to side, I do see liquid around the boot. I have to replace my parking cable at my mechanic's shop anyways, too tedious to do with jacks. I can get my caliper replaced there and bleed the whole system.
  9. Hey Thanks for the responses. I decided to go ahead and check one of my wheels because I was really tempted to check this out so I had to time to jack up the front left wheel. 2 of the metal clips are missing and that's where, I'm pretty sure, the sound is from. I'm going to place an order for the clips tonight so I can install it on the weekend. I'm good driving for the time being (few days, 10km/day) right? Other than that I believe I will need a new caliper/dust boot, seal as well as seen in these pictures correct? Here are the pictures http://imgur.com/a/mJRNu http://imgur.com/7sU7sjg
  10. I checked the pads about a month ago, they were fine - lot of material left. Reason I pulled the wheel off then was because my caliper was dragging my wheel due to a broken handbrake. Wheels are on tight, maybe too tight? I will take a look at the suspension at each wheel when I get time.
  11. I can hear this noise while driving in my front just rattling/crunching a way. What's also weird is my rear wheels seem to have a bigger problem. I feel as if the calipers are trying to engage but can't and gives this awful crunching noise while slowly braking. If I floor the brake at once, the noise is not heard. Anyways I have a video of the noise while the car is stationary and pushing on the sides of the wheel. I will pull the wheels off this weekend (live in an apartment, will go to my friends place) I'm thinking maybe the metal clips that the brakes sit on? Overtorqued lugs?
  12. Hi, thanks for the reply. I live in Canada and bought the part off RockAuto cause of their cheap prices. Yeah it was locked in real good. I think I confused myself and you guys as well. It will clunk going over bumps, or fully turning the wheel right/left, sometimes.
  13. Thank you for the reply. Its at 197000 KM (122000 Miles). I bought the car 2nd hand, so no service history; don't know if transmission fluid&filter has been changed. Just fixing things that need to be replaced so I can run my journey to the ground. I am however following the owner's manual maintenance schedule as well. I plan on doing the transmission fluid&filter just before 200k km. Yes the transmission did clunk before the work. Going from P-R-N-D, it would clunk. But what I'm noticing now is the following (hopefully this will better help understand what I'm trying to say). I took my car to an empty parking lot today and went in circles with the wheel fully to the right and left. When accelerating a little, I can hear some 'clunks' sometimes when the wheel if fully turned to the left or right going in a circle. I am using an aftermarket CV half shaft (Empire). I only replaced my driver side as my mechanic told me the passenger side is fine. He did say if you're low on money just replace 1 side only. Other than that, driving the car I don't have any issues with the transmission. It engages properly while changing its gear driving down the road. Fluid looks good too. I will probably give my mechanic a call tomorrow and tell him about the symptoms I'm having.
  14. Hey Guys, I recently put in a new CV shaft and Outer Tie Rod. In the process, some transmission fluid came out. I bought a Mopar ATF+4 fluid and filled it up gradually until the level hit the cross hatch on the transmission dip stick. Since then I've been noticed "the clunks" more frequently. Once I turn the car on and shift between Reverse-Neutral-Drive, the clunk noise is heard. Sometimes when turning really slowly, I could hear the clunk coming as well. At first I thought its the CV Axle nut that needs to be retorqued or something but I don't think its the case as the mechanic did use air tools. Prior to doing the drivetrain work, the transmission fluid was in good shape/color. It's currently good weather here in Toronto, about 25 degrees, so its not cold. Kinda stumped to what the problem is. I'm going to go get an alignment soon, so I'll probably run it with some of the mechanics. Car: 2009 Dodge Journey 2.4 L 4 Cylinder, 4 Speed Automatic
