I've read your threads and am not talking about your posts. I'm sure it does sound tons better especially since you have an aftermarket amp bypassing the crappy alpine amps cross over points LOL.
I'm talking about the 3 or 4 people that have said they modified the oem sub enclosure for 10" subs. I've read posts that they did it with success but once asked for pics they become ghosts. That's all. If you want to read that I have a "low opinion of forum members". That's fine too. But I was pretty clear what my question was. I use my journey for business and am unable to sacrifice any cargo area or 3rd row. I'd prefer the sub be in the oem location, but underwear is certainly on my list of possibilities. I'm not looking for rattle the crap off the wall loud. I'm looking for more of an audiophile sound. Which is one reason the seat under the sub is on the back burner. Without ever hearing a sub under my butt. Just not sure how it would present itself in the sound stage.

as no one actually done anything with the factory subwoofer or enclosure? I'm on the fence of a 600x5 Kicker amplifier and change out the 8"woofer to a better 8" Kicker to use the 300Watts RMS of the sub channel of the kicker amp. i would think that would help... Would bypass the crappy crossover points of the OEM amplifier... i guess i had hoped some of the crap talkers on here would actually come out and show their goods.. i'd like to try the 10" in the enclosure, but i don't want to destroy it if its not possible....

I could meter the sub. But I really don't want to disassemble the back of the car until I have the replacement woofer. That's why I was hoping someone would have some info on it. No luck Apparently the people that "upgraded" their subwoofers were talking out of there arses lol. There were several people I read modified stock box for a 10". But can't get any confirmation. Ugghhh

Well just completed this upgrade. I can tell you the components are certainly brighter than the stock alpine dash speakers. Wow. Didn't get to listen to it to much, but will get to tomorrow. Changing them was a piece of cake for anyone wondering.

Hi guys, I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while. My install went fairly smooth-including the dash, you have to remove tha pillar trim on both sides first before removing the dash panel. The whole install is definitely easier if you have a decent set of trim panel removal tools, I found them on Amazon as well as the coaxial speaker set, I bought the other speaker set (the component set) on eBay. I definitely noticed better lows and the highs are like night and day between the original and the new tweeters. My car doesn't have a subwoofer so I unfortunately don't have any info on that. I also found out during my speaker research that the Alpine system has 2 Ohm speakers and these speakers are 4 Ohm so you may not get a very desirable sound from these unless you change your amp. My car only has the base (small screen and no amp) system which has stock 4 Ohm speakers so I'm getting better sound from these Kickers. But I'm still getting a little static in the vocal parts of some songs-especially newer or remastered recordings (CD or iPod) so now I'm guessing is the stereo itself. So it seems that adding new speakers to my car helps but, with my radio-it's just like polishing a turd. I miss the days and the cars where you can also swap in a new stereo for the ultimate upgrade. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info man.  I haven't even messed with it at all yet but it frustrates the hell out of me.  I'm wondering if it's an ID3 tag version conflict or "conflict" lol

OIC.  Sorry for the cornfusion (Hoosier Humor!)  I haven't noticed this.  I don't even look at the order of the songs.  I either play a group of CDs by the same Artist, and shuffle the songs, or just play all my songs shuffled.  But, I do wish that there was a way to play a group of Artists; not just one at a time.

Since you have your songs on an iPhone, I'm guessing that you are using iTunes.  Uconnect only supports iOS up to 7.1.  I went crazy trying to use iTunes on this frigging radio (I want my MyGig back!)  (I wonder how many times I have said this now!  LOL).  I loaded all my songs from iTunes to an SD card, and had a mess.  I purchased a 64GB iPhone5S and put all my music on it so I could use it as an iPod.  No dice.  Same thing.  I found an iPod with 7.1 on it on eBay, and all the issues remained.  Gave up on the 64GB iPhone, and am now back to 6s 32GB with no music.  My Dell came with POS Windows 10.  I reloaded all of my CDs back onto the computer using Windows Media Player, and copied this to an SD card.  WMP goes out on the net and searches for Art, by default.  This solved a lot of my Art display issues.  This may be the reason that I have not noticed Songs being in alphabetical order on a CD (WMP vs iTunes in a Uconnect environment).  Uconnect broke ties with Gracenote in 2011, so no Art will display on a CD that came out after 2011.  Uconnect told me that Art must be a jpeg in order to display.  In iTunes, I can scan a CD Cover, save it as a jpeg and use it for the Art, and it will display on the screen.  I haven't been able to figure out how to do this with WMP, because it goes out on the net.  I still have Art not displaying on some older CDs.  When I get some time, I'll figure this out.  I've only been working on this for 2 years now, so what's a little more time?  I hope that the new radios with Apple Play will be compatible with our DJs.

But that is the problem.  As I said in the OP some of the albums it messes with the order and alphabetizes them rather than keep them in order.  .  I was hoping someone knew how I can make it always put my albums in order.  It really messes with a live album lol.

Hey bro.. the amp is under the passenger seat where the OEM alpine amp was. Its obviously larger but fits under there perfectly.. i will upload a picture later today of it under there. We also ran 4 gauge to the amplifier directly from the battery. apparently its super easy on these cars so long as you don't have a manual... there is a giant rubber plug for the clutch pedal that we went through.
I also figured out the other issue.. apparently there is a Fade disable on the amplifier that was turned on.. then it uses just the front input of the amp to power all 5 channels.. which wouldn't be an issue if you didn't want to fade... or want park assist. once that was turned back off, obviously fade and balance worked as intended and the park assist beeps resumed.
Looking at the OEM enclosure it looks like you could modify it for a 10" sub. i may try this at some point, but i need to stay on the down low a bit with the spending on the car.. the wife is getting a little ticked.. I did have to modify the stock enclosure to fit even this 8" because of depth. it was easy enough to cut and reseal the enclosure.

Installation is complete and WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! i definitely recommend doing this upgrade... after looking at at the subwoofer enclosure, it looks like you may be able to fit a 10" in there.. i may eventually try it, but the Kicker CompR 8" sounds AMAZING... I elected the Kicker KX800.5 5 channel amplifier.. its 50x4 RMS @ 4ohm and then 400x1 RMS @ 2ohm to the subwoofer. I still need to mess around with settings as with the PAC Adapter i apparently lost Fader when i expected to only lose the EQ settings... i also don't have my park assist beeps... I'll keep you updated as to my findings...

Well i decided to just order the correct adapter from PAC and not even mess with it. Im not worried about bass mid and treble with a sub level controller.
A friend of mine that works at rockford fosgate told me about the noise cancelling mics... really not sure what they do as i've been out of it forever.. only reason i'm doing anything with this car is it sounds like complete crap!
