  1. Wow! Is that a normal price for a vehicle like this or is it just that expensive because it is an import?
  2. I can't attest to any of these problems because I don't have an AWD and haven't had any leaking fluids. I can attest to the initial smell, though. I bought my '10 SXT with 4 miles on the odometer, fresh off the transport truck. For the first few weeks, the burning, "plasticky" smell outside the vehicle was quite strong. I just attributed it to a break-in smell, kind of how new electronics always have that "new electronics smell". After a few weeks, the smell was completely gone. Hopefully that's what you're smelling.
  3. Yeah, I'm not really sure, either. I keep my wipers/windshield clean and they do the job for me. The only thing I can think is that in a light rain, they leave a few, thin water streaks that evaporate almost instantly. Not what I would call "bad".
  4. Greetings! We really are spreading out all over the world!
  5. "Retooled" conjures up images of major changes, so sorry about that. More like "reconfigured" to produce the new trim packages. No major platform changes just yet. MY 2011 is when the Journey should receive an updated look. Here's a link to the press release that describes what the Journey should be getting in (hopefully) just a matter of weeks: http://www.chryslergroupllc.com/news/archive/2010/01/07/brand_delivers_more_style
  6. Welcome! Good to see we've reached the southern hemisphere with our membership!

I don't have that problem, but I thought I recently saw a welcome message from someone in Paris who reported the same thing. I'm not sure what you would do about that. Do the pushbuttons in the center stack respond when you press them i.e. if you direct air to your feet, does that button light up?
  8. Yes, MY 2010 is the same. You DO get a larger recessed trunk area, though.
  9. I wouldn't worry about it. If you're happy with the car and it seems to be functioning fine, don't fret about it being a little older than you thought. You should look at this from a different perspective - you have one of the first Journey's ever produced, so that makes it "special". I think January 2008 is actually before they started large scale production, so being a demo unit makes a lot of sense. My recollection is that March 2008 is when large scale production began. Yes, this is relatively common, especially for an all-new platform like the Journey. 2009, however, was not a normal year for all manufacturers, more so for Chrysler. The bankruptcy/reorganization essentially brought everything there to stop for about half the year, so they didn't start producing 2010 until September-ish. Right now, Journey 2011 models are slated to begin production at the end of July. Just FYI, you can usually find out a vehicles build date by looking at the VIN sticker on the frame of the door. Sometimes it's coded, but easy to pick out. Yours probably says 012008, or something like that. It's not a bad idea to look at this when buying any car. At the very least , you can use it for bargaining purposes. When I bought my 2010 SXT back in November, there were several 2009s on the lot that were built in April, 2008. They tried to get me to look at some of those until I started bringing that fact up!

  11. I think it all boils down to where you live and what conditions you'll commonly face while driving. If I lived where heavy snow & ice is the norm, I'd opt for AWD. Otherwise, FWD is fine and you'll benefit from a simpler driveline and better fuel economy.
  12. Yes, very confusing. They made the announcement but still nothing on the marketing side. The reason is that they have not gone into production with the "2010 1/2" models yet, so no sense marketing something you can't sell. Last I heard, these models were going to be available "this spring". I'm pretty active over on Allpar, so the moment more details are available, I'll post them over here.
  13. Hi Anthony - welcome to the forum!
  14. Yes, slowly but surely, I'm seeing more and more on the road. I've also noticed an uptick in this forum lately, so maybe that's indicative of more buyers.
  15. I could have sworn that was MY Journey up there!

    ESP OFF

I'd say it's up to you and how you feel your driving ability is under such circumstances. Personally, I'd say leave it on and only turn it off when you feel like traction control is getting in the way of what you are trying to accomplish. Easy for me to say since I don't drive in anything more extreme than patchy ice. It has helped me in a few instances, though.

    Where do you live?

Wow, I'm impressed by the geographic distribution of everyone! North Texas (near Dallas) USA for me.
  18. I've got 3,502 miles (5,636 km) on my 2010 SXT purchased back in November - zero problems! I probably just jinxed myself...
  19. Nice. I bet there's not too many of those in Paris!
  20. Wish I knew. I know the factory was on holiday shutdown when you ordered, and that shutdown was extended a week or two. I'm not clear on whether or not production will (or has) resumed with the old trim levels (SE, SXT, RT) or the new ones (Heat, Uptown, etc). My guess is they'll produce the old trims for as long as it takes to fill outstanding orders then transition to the new ones.
  21. The trip computer is handy, but nothing beats a manual calculation at the pump for determining your overall MPG. I haven't quite figured out the algorithm in the trip computer, but it obviously takes some window of time/miles and performs it's calculation on that. I can be do real well around town, averaging 21-22 MPG (v6 SXT) and then I'll hit 20 minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic only to have my mileage sink down to 17 or less. The calculation may be accurate for the past hour of driving, or so, but it is not accurate for my overall mileage on the current tankful. BTW, you also get two trip odometers and the "economy" feedback on the base SXT.

    weird noise

What was the build date of your vehicle? It's on the sticker inside your door, if you don't know. Did you look at the procedure above for mjm47? Are you sure this is what your dealer did? Note that is states replacement of power steering will not solve the problem. You'd think that at this point, with the Chrysler rep getting involved and such, that procedure would have been performed. However, I've learned NEVER to take anything for granted as far as dealership service goes.

    Hi you all

I purchased a 2010 Journey SXT back in November. I love it so far. My real name is Duilio, but everyone here in the U.S just calls me 'D' because they can't pronounce that. My mother was from Trieste and my father Monfalcone. I've been there to visit 3 times, but it's been far too long since my last trip - 25 years! Your English is much better than my Italian! Good luck with your Journey!

    Hi you all

Welcome! Let us know when you get it. BTW, I'm a first generation Italian-American. Both my parents and brothers were born in Italy.
