  1. I've noted that the seatbelt chime only goes off when someone is sitting there. I've often wondered how much weight it would take to make the car think someone was there and not belted up.

Would 10kg be enough? 20? If I happened to be carting 20L of water for whatever reason, would I need to put the seatbelt in to make the damned thing cease its racket?

    Oh yeah; Tangent Alert.

  2. extended warranty from mopar

That was an interesting read. The standard FCAA Manufacturer's warranty states:

"Certain changes that you might make to your vehicle do not, by themselves, void your FCAA Manufacturer’s Warranty. Examples of some of these changes are: • Installing non-genuine parts

    ...

However, your FCAA Manufacturer’s Warranty does not cover any accessory, component or part that FCAA did not supply. Nor does it cover the costs of any repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed because of the installation or use of non-genuine parts, accessories, components, equipment, materials or additives."

So it seems that the rest of the vehicle is still under warranty!

The previous owner's wife reversed past a pole and took out the passenger wing mirror, so he replaced it with a non genuine one whose connector is apparently a couple of inches too short and so is not connected to the controls on the driver's door

But there is no mention of an extended warranty available for purchase. We don't have your lemon laws over here and Fiat Chrysler Australia is one of the worst for customer satisfaction in multiple surveys. I'm hoping that's due to Jeeps being trashcans on wheels.

  3. Greetings!

I purchased a Black 2013 SXT in September and remain thoroughly impressed with the performance of the vehicle so far. Love the big touch screen and multiple nooks and crannies to store bits and bobs. The air con vents in the 3rd row and built in booster seats were the tipping points to choosing this over the local (korean imported) Holden C[r]aptiva; this vehicle just has so many more features for a relatively similar price.

I've already made a few posts and will likely make quite a few more. When I get the kids to help wash her next time, I will take some pics to post.

My main query is regarding the extended warranty, can it be purchased for a private sale vehicle? I'm not sure it is even offered in Australia to the extent that you can get it in North America, which begs the question of whether or why not. I know that the reliability of this model has been a lot better since around 2010 or so but even still...

  4. only thing I've done to mine (2013) is to replace the tyre tube caps with chrome ones and put a little convex mirror on the passenger side mirror. I've ordered a dash cam and chrome door handles as well.

    ...

The extra mirror is more useful than you'd expect for a ~2" diameter bit of plastic.

    And WELCOME!

I've only been around a short while having purch'd the vehicle in Sept.
