  1. Ahh. I agree that this is a negative situation, but these kinds of things happen everywhere. Whats really bugging me is why didn't Rob Wolchek (reporter/moral officer) go to the police with video after a day or two? He could've run the story after. Guess he's not much different than the people he reports on. lol..

....And no!! I don't drink or toke when I work. I save it for my time off

  2. got 50,000 klms on mine got the inner tie rod driver side done and outer tie rods and a drivers side ball joint, luckily it was all under warranty, seems like all this should not happen, this is a new model vehicle and the representation of a new model should have better reliability.

Actually, first year new models are notorious for having issues thus you get a better warranty (tranny). After all they are the first of their kind out in the real world in real conditions. I waited for a '10 hoping most of the bugs were worked out. With the exception of brakes everything has been minor.

  3. #1. Why is there a 2" hole in the front wheel-well on both sides?

My concern (being in Cda) is that salt and snow can enter the fender. ???

I think I've figured it out. The other day I was driving beside a newer Audi or Volvo (was dark) suv and noticed he had side marker lights in the same spot as the mysterious wheel well holes on the journeys. I think its Dodge's cheapa** way of adding this feature.

    :finger:

  4. Just got my 2010 journey sxt back from dealership for a second time in less than 2 months. In July, the dealer replaced front pads and rotors because I had some bad vibrations @ 16,000kms. All was good til about 2 weeks ago. Noticed a pumping feel in the brake pedal when stopping. Took it in last week and they replaced rear pads and rotors and balanced and rotated all 4 wheels @ 19,939kms. All work was under warranty. Everything feels silky smooth now. Just a pain to not have transportation for a day each time although I took time off work and spent it with my kid. :D Anyway was talking to service rep and mentioned I was part of an online forum and he suggested I post the Chrysler Customer Service number. I called today to document my frustration (in a nice way, bees and honey and all that) with the premature brake wear. He gave me a reference # with which to cite if/when I have brake problems again and they would take it case by case on costs. He mentioned that Chrysler reads and listens to all complaints and if they had enough would probably do a recall or something. So here is the number:

    1-800-465-2001 Canada and US

If you find yourself having issues with your brakes or anything, call. Who knows maybe we can get them to acknowledge a brake issue!

  5. mine has the ipod connector but doesnt work. i took it back to the dealer and they called the headquarters and they said it was a mistake for it to be in the car and for it to work it would take afew extra parts and at $500 to get it to work so i said screw it cause i have the hard drive in there anyways

If its in writting that it should've had something but then you got nothing, why not complain and get something of equivalent value? Rubber mats, bug deflector, window deflectors, undercoating, oil changes, couple hundred knocked off price ETC

  6. The exterior pillars that have black decals stuck to them tend to "fade to gray". I have tried several waxes and cleaners to "re-black" them. Today I tried black shoe polish and it's the most successful test yet; shiny and black! I'll let you know if there are any problems or if it doesn't last.

Why bother? I asked the service rep about warranty. He said the pilar stickers are 3 years. Just get them to replace.

  7. Hello

I have a 2009 SXT journey with 72k miles. and recently have a constant sound like a *sonar submarine* There is not any fail on engine or light ON on dash.

somebody can told me how can fix that.

More info is needed. When do you notice it? Where is it coming from? Is it hot/cold/raining/snowing? Are you searching for the elusive giant octopus?

  8. I've had the vehicle for exactly a month already and the EVIC indicator shows an average 16.6L/100KM. I believe with a full tank to empty, I can drive 500 KM. But I fill up when I reach 450KM. This is 90% city / 10% highway driving and I'm driving in a relaxed manner. If I drive any more relaxed to try and get good mileage, I'm pretty sure someones going to try and ram me off the road.

By the way this is for an AWD. Does anyone here have AWD? I"m assuming that's the reason for my higher fuel consumption as well.

Yes AWD will consume just a little more. But remember you're doing 90% stop and go in the city. Your numbers seem good for your first month. After about 10K you should see a slight decrease in consumption.

  9. Mid grade is recommended and thats what i always fill my Journey with. Although it says you can go with Regular without any problems i am not sure how it affects the performance.

You can pretty much fill the journey with whatever gas/petrol your budget allows. As for the performance, you won't really notice a difference unless you do longhaul driving.

  10. I would like to take my antenna off as when ever I go into parking garages that have very low clearence my antenna taps the overhead bar. I was wondering if there is a fin type antenna that could be screwed on instead of the standard one.

    thanks,

The antenna is pretty flexible. Instead of buying a "stubby", consider getting another OEM as a backup replacement in case anything happens to the original. Must be a really old building to have that low clearance.

  11. I don't find the shifting smooth especially when it downshifts to the first and second gear as I come to a stop. I can feel the shifting happening and it's giving a slight jerk like there's an amateur driver.

Check with your dealership. They may have an flash update for the tranny rough shift.

  12. Can you guys share how much you paid for the extended warranty on your Journey.

What was the warranty term that you selected and how much?

Here in Canada I didn't purchase the Chrysler extended warranty that my dealer was offering. There was a lot and I think the highest plan was the Gold Plus which came with 120,000 miles, free oil change/tire rotation while in warranty, and rental car if the vehicle is in the shop. Price was ridiculous like $2,600 but I was able to haggle down to $2,100 and she pretended she couldn't offer it any lower because it was Chrysler's pricing. Then she finally gave in, but I still didn't take it because I didn't know how low she can really go and I can take it anytime while the factory warranty is in effect.

    How about you guys?

Sounds about right. Remember you got the full parts coverage AND oil changes for the term. Althouogh they say its free, oil changes are what drives the price up. As for the rental, it won't take effect until its at the dealership for at least 24 hours (day) unless the car is undriveable then its immediate. All in all, get the extended cause you never know.

  13. Hi!

I just bought a new 2010 Journey R/T. It come with the integrated IPOD harness in the glove box.

I have check in the owners manual and I'm not able to find where I have to plug it to make it work.... Can anyone help?

Also, I have the basic radio. Does anyone know if I can replace it with a RER Mygig unit (I already have one...)?

Finally, how can I dissasemble the dashboard to have acces at the radio to remove it? I dont see any screws or anything like that....

Thx! a lot for all youre answers!

Not 100% but I think you have to pry/pull the trim around the center console to access the screws that hold the components in. Seems most of this car is snapped together.

  14. They said that they won't touch Chrysler/Dodge tires that have the tire pressure monitors on it. They said that the valve stems are too fragile and after replacing several already they made it a policy not to mess with them.

I'm assuming the quick lube guys use the pressure gauge that pushes on to fill. I have one of the pressure gauges that has the clip the you squeeze and it attaches to the stem and then you pull the trigger on the handle ot start filling the tire. There is no extra pushing pulling or bending of the stem.

I doubt thats the reason. Chrysler puts Nitrogen in all new car tires. Most of the quick lube places don't have that equipment. If they were to top up with air then it would be their fault if anything happened- not that anything would unless you have a higher air/nitrogen content in 1 or more tires, that tires pressure would just be fluctuating more with the temps. If the car is still under warranty take it to a dealership and have them top it up for free.

  15. Have you checked the manual? The has to be a way to take them out... I don't know though - mine is only the 5 seater.

I've got the 3rd row. I'll take a look after the wife gets home. Usually you can pull the seat cushion up or there might be a screw or two where the seat and back cushion meet. Or ask your kid to reach in and feel for it, since his wrists are much smaller.

  16. The ECO notification is to tell you you are driving in the most efficient way, usually when you are just cruising barely touching the gas pedal. I've got the V6 SXT '10 and its pretty easy to get it to light. From what I was told/surmised, the V4 has to work a little harder to pull this heavy vehicle thus you may not see the ECO light up unless you're going downhill with the wind at your back . Up until I hit 10-11,000Kms, I was getting about 16-17Liter/100km whereas now @ 16,000kms I get 12L/100kms. A recent highway roadtrip (520 kilometers) had the journey @ 9.7L/100kms which was the lowest i'd seen.

As for your window 'trick'.. On the key FOB press door unlock once then again and hold it on the second press. The front windows should come down until you release the button.
