  1. Looks like I'm getting a brand new tranny. It's under warranty so I don't have to pay any of the $4,300 it would have cost me. Only bad part is I'll be without my Journey until middle of next week.
  2. My issue is not so much as them honoring the warranty. It's that they're largely incompetent and it takes multiple trips back to fix a problem.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I will suggest that to the mechanic when he calls me back since he's a dumbass. I'm stuck with him because my service warranty is with his shop.
  4. Was hoping someone could tell me if they've experienced/heard of this. I was driving my SXT last night and when I pulled into a parking spot, after braking, the thing slipped out of Drive and I had no power to the wheels. It was as if I took it out of drive manually. I turned it off, then back on and the problem goes away for a minute then comes back. The issue is accompanied by a "whirring" sound that gets higher or lower pitched depending on how much I stepped on the gas. When it slips out of gear the engine starts to race as if I was on the gas pedal hard in Neutral. I tried manually shifting through 1st and 2nd gear but there's no difference. I had to have the car towed to the service station where I have my extended warranty. The mechanic who looked at it initially said the check engine light was showing an issue with the power steering. Huh? Could that possibly affect the tranny? Any input is greatly appreciated. The shop normally handles Hyundai as they sell new Hyundais there, but I bought my Dodge from their used car section. The mechanic is already talking about having to send it to an authorized Dodge service center. I can already tell they're gonna try to skirt my warranty, as they've tried, unsuccessfully, to do in the past with my two other cars (both Hyundais). B
  5. Nah, I've tried it. You still get water spots and the leaf blower hits your car's paint with 100+ mph dust and dirt.
  6. I figured I'd add a technique I use since I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread. This is a trick I found over at the detailing forum I'm a member of. It allows me to dry the car with one microfiber towel. Completely. And with no water spots. After I rinse all the soap off I turn the hose pressure down to a little over a trickle, about 1/5th full stream. I then re-rinse the vehicle immediately, but I keep the hose (without nozzle) at the top of the car pointing down and allow the trickling water to cascade down the side panels. Do this all around the car, including the roof and windshield. If you have a good enough wax base and minimal swirl marks, you will see virtually ALL the water droplets disappear in the stream as you progress. There will be hardly any water left on the vehicle and you can completely dry it with one microfiber towel in about two minutes. Try it!
  7. I had the same thing done and I'm really liking the sound. When I add the K&N CAI it will sound even better. Good luck with your mods and let us know how you like it.
  8. My son liked the sound so much that he now wants to upgrade his 2006 Tiburon with a catback system. And guess who has to help him install it??
  9. So I went ahead with the exhaust changes. At first, I had the muffler guy keep in the stock resonator and replace the stock mufflers with 2 5x8 Magnaflows. The volume level was not quite where I wanted it to be, but it did sound good. The volume tended to be mostly in the lower throttle which quickly rolled off around 3,000 rpm. So I took the DJ back to the guy and had him remove the resonator. Much better. Not too much louder, but the sound is more even at all speeds. Slight cabin drone, but nothing I wasn't expecting. I can still hear my music fine and it doesn't drown out my wife's voice.
  10. Looks like I may be the first. Sweeeeet!
  11. I've been an audio lover for years and "loud" is a relative term. To me, if something sounds very loud it's sometimes indicative of inferior equipment being pushed too hard. Quality sound at reference levels allow you to "feel" the music more so than the perception of it being "loud." And I do like to feel it!
  12. I know that, I'm just looking to enter my DJ in a car show to give my little brother a thrill. Of course, I probably won't win any prizes but it should be fun, nonetheless.
  13. I'm curious if anyone here has had their DJ in a car show? If so, how did you do? Thinking about entering one, mostly for the benefit of my younger brother who is handicapped and loves car shows.
  14. He just took a peek underneath, probably didn't even see it. I'm into my music, as well. Just upgraded to a Pio DEH-80prs and JL Audio components and sub, and two JL amps. Sweet sound. Hopefully the drone will be minimal.
  15. Howdy. I own a 2012 DJ SXT and lately I've been thinking about upgrading the exhaust system to try and get that growl I'm looking for. The wife thinks I'm crazy but she told me to go for it. I absolutely love my DJ and plan to keep it for a long time and, as such, I'm looking to do some upgrades. I've done some research on this site and have visited an exhaust shop. The guy took a look under the car and recommended putting in a resonator before the split, and then two Magnaflow Bullets after the split. He said I will definitely hear it but I don't want it to be so loud that I won't be able to hear my radio. Also don't want any cabin drone. Are there specific Magnaflow mufflers that are recommended for this vehicle that have worked out okay for anyone here? I'm also considering an air intake upgrade if I go with the new exhaust system. Is there a consensus on what CAI product works best with the DJ? Thanks in advance, and get ready for lots of stupid questions. Lots and lots.
