  1. I'm going to be close to the maximum for the Journey so about 2500#. The trailer has the electric brakes so I'll figure out some way to hook it up. Sure not like to old day with these new vehicles.
  2. Well took my Journey back to the dealer today and they did the reconfiguration on it now it has the code for the trailer package, but still no power on the green/white wire. Now I'm looking to add another brake switch by the brake peddle to feed power to the brake controller. Has any one else done this? Any ideas on what would be the easiest switch to mount there?
  3. Yes I found your post. The problem I'm having is there is no power on the dark green/white wire. That's why I think they need to put in the sales code for me to activate that part of the system. Journeyman425 was nice enough to enter the code for me and I went back to the dealer here and they are supposed to hook it up to their computer on Friday hopefully that will solve my power issue. (:
  4. In Alberta Canada we are required to have brakes on any trailer over 2000 lbs. plus if I'm towing in the mountains I would just feel safer knowing that the trailer pushing me down the mountain had brakes (:
  5. One more question if my journey didn't come with the tow prep is it still possible to add the sales code. That seems to be the reason that they are telling me that it cant be added.
  6. They said that the software or the computer would not accept it. I'm thinking this will be the last Dodge product I buy. $100,000.00 in vehicles in the last 2 years and no help. Is it only in the USA that they can add the sales code? When I called Chrysler Canada they said that if the dealer said that it cant be done then that is kind of final. Called another dealer and asked them, they said they don't put brake controllers in the journey because it is not supposed to pull anything that heavy. I am starting to get really frustrated with the whole process.
  7. well took my journey in today to have them put the code in and they said couldn't put the code in but charged $84 to say that
  8. Thanks for the advice that seems to be everyone's advice so I am going to go back to The dealer and demand that they put the code in to turn on the system
  9. Hi all; I'm new to here. I'm having a problem, I took my journey to a hitch shop to have a hitch and wiring installed. Hitch went fine, wiring is ok but when they got to the brake controller they can't seem to find where to hook it up. They called Dodge and they told them what wire to hook to but they say there is no power on that wire. They finally gave up and told me to take it to a dealer. I went to the dealer and they said something about putting a sales code in to turn power on to certain wires, when I asked him if he could put it in he said it probably wouldn't work because Dodge doesn't want you pulling anything that heavy. I said that I was only pulling 2500 lbs and that is what its rated for but you need a brake controller to pull that much legally. In the end he told me to search on the net to see if I could find how to hook it up. Hitch place not much help, Dodge dealer no help. If any one has had any luck hooking up a brake controller on a Dodge Journey 2013 with LED tail lights I would sure like to hear about it. Thanks in advance
