  1. The way I figured it out was thanks to my buddy who is a Ford mechanic. He said there are a lot of new filters that have nipples, some are offset (those are the real pain), and where this nip goes might push down a button/sensor or might be where the reading sensor is.
  2. Everyone can relax. One of the dumbest answers to this whole thing much like I feared. The 2014 DJ's oil filter is slightly different and has a 1 character difference than the rest. So once I swapped out the oil filter all returned to normal and I was able to use a Global setting on a reader to clear the code.
  3. See we thought the same thing about the OBDII scanners but shit you not the guy I took my Wrangler to worked on UK Jeeps all the time. But when he plugged his scanner into my US Jeep the whole thing lit up like a Christmas tree and then was completely non-responsive until we did the 15-min battery reset. Then after driving it a few miles the same warning lights came back. As for the Journey, its a US model that is brought over and sold to us via AAFES (U.S. military associate department/will sell you anything). Called the dealership/delivery garage this morning and they said they have no reason to think anything bad can happen to it if I did an oil change. To bring it over and they will have a look tomorrow. SO until I am odering a scanner. Thanks for the help guys will keep you posted
  4. Wish I could just take it to a Auto zone but I'm stationed overseas in the UK. I learned with my Wrangler to not have the locals scan your car because 9/10 times they don't have your make/model and it really freaks out the CPU. I will need to order one from Amazon. Will take suggestions of good ones. Will need to take it to the Delivery garage I got it from but it's 75 miles away. Thus didn't want to do more damage/hoping someone might know an easy fix.
  5. Acceleration in the vehicle is essentially gone. It will climb ever so slowly to speed, but doesn't have any of the pep it used to. Warning lights are a constant Check Engine and an occasional Check Oil that comes and goes. I haven't scanned the codes as I don't have the means to do so.
  6. Apologies didn't mean to say your questions were dumb. Sarcasm font wasn't working. Trying to say let's start with the "simple" questions. Most likely I overlooked something stupid. Ya know?
  7. Yeah no worries. Funny how so many have asked me the same questions and asked the same things. I didn't mean to come off sounding sore.
  8. We can start with the dumb questions make sure I didn't overlook something. Removed and replaced filter first. To include gasket. DrainEd oil. Put Plug back. lowered vehicle. Bought 6qts and all bottles were emptied.
  9. Just picked my new one up before Christmas. As I've always done with new cars I decided to give it a fresh oil change before 1000 miles today. Afterwards the darn thing is in some kind of Engine protection mode and keeps tell me the oil is low and to check the engine. WTF?
