5rebel9
OK, so last night IN THE DARK I transferred the crossbars from our '13 RT to my '13 SXT. so I could transport a ladder today. Right away I noticed wind noise with the cross bars(no ladder yet), so I stopped to check them and noticed IN DAYLIGHT that the bars are shaped like an airfoil(wing) with thick edge and tapered edge. I don't have owners manual for placement, but surmise that the thick edge should face forward, of course I have them on with the tapered edge forward. I have to go out again in a while and will swap positioning of them and see if wind noise goes away or lessens/ gets worse. Yes this 4 banger drives so quietly that it was quite annoying to hear the wind noise, and yes with the 20' extension ladder secured on top it REALLY "sang"! 5rebel9
Switched them around and NO MORE WIND NOISE. I guess work should be done when there's light to see what you are doing!
