Dodge journey SXT 2009 - Stuck in First gear - reverse gear still available.

Recommended Posts

hi John , i have presently 180800km on my dashboard, the oil level is correct , i have removed the TIPM and clean it with a special (electronic contact cleaner) it looks better, but i'm still concerned....

the oil (but not the filter) was changed during the summer 2021 @ 150000 (approx).   no check engine on the dashbord presently.

the most of people are saying :  the TIPM is the main source of all troubles.

Transmission codes not always read with a regular obd2 scanner. A transmission shop with a bidirectional scanner should be able to trouble shoot. Just because no light on doesn't mean no codes. No forward gears can be a lot of things. Anything from tcm/computer, shifter mechanism,  fluid body etc. And 2009-10 were the bad tpim years. Which can be bypassed with a home made wire harness.  You are having a bad run of luck.

The scanner you have can't retrieve most transmission codes. Even if dash mil light is not on, sticking in first gear would generate codes.  Stop by a transmission shop and ask them to trouble shoot the problem. Plug in a bi-directional scanner that can be used to cycle all the sensors to find problem. Buying random parts not a good idea. If your lucky it's a bad sensor (input or output speed sensor maybe) and not entire transmission that needs rebuilding.

thanks john for your fast response , i have a RDV with a transmision specialist, tomorrow PM , but just in between , i'm cleaning all connectors going to the transmission , because i Unfortunately used for many years an anti-rust treatement , wich can may be cause this troubles . what do you think about that possible cause john ? it make sense ?  thanks for supporting me.😃

PS : when this problem ocur , i just disconnect the main battery Red cable , to return to normal situation.
