Happy Overall except.....

Hi everyone,

I have a 2009 R/T which my wife and I are really happy with. The space is excellent for us and for everything we need to take on a trip with our 15 month old daughter. We only have one problem, and that is the range on the remote start. We live in Calgary, which can get a bit chilly every now and then, so the remote start is a great device for warming our Journey up, or just to start it during the day at work where there are no hook-ups. The problem is that we have to be within close range for it to work, sometimes next to it depending on the cars mood that day! I have tried new batteries in the key fob, and also talking to the really useless, unhelpful dealership where we bought the car, all to no avail. I am loathed to purchase an after market device because of the cost, but am envious of my work colleague who can fire up his F350 from our concrete enclosed lunch room and get a signal back to say his truck is running!

Please, does anybody have any info on how to fix this issue?

Many thanks

Rod

if its the factory installed (starts with the original key FOB) then you should be able to start from at least 500 ft. I average about 650 ft from door to car at work and I get it to start just before I am walking out the door. Take it back to the dealership and demonstrate it to the service manager if the service rep won't listen. Sounds like it might be a missing or misinstalled antennae for the reciever. How far can you lock and unlock the doors?

Hi Diggit,

Thanks for the reply. It really does seem to depend on the car's mood! Sometimes I have to be almost next to it to unlock the doors after several pushes, and other times I can be 100ft away. I will try the dealership again, or may just go to a different one that may be more helpful hopefully. If it could work at 500ft, then that would be awesome!

Thanks again for your reply, I will let you know what happens.
