I had much the same question and asked a bunch of places. I was told from Dodge directly, that the Journey comes standard with a transmission oil cooler. For the trailer tow prep, they have included the engine oil cooler. I was told that it helps keep the oil a more uniform temp at high RPMs and under a load while towing. For those that didn't get the option installed, there are kits available, that look very similar to the stock option used. Collar screws onto the oil filter recepticle and the oil filter screws onto the collar, lines run to a cooling block attached to the rad. It is about $150.00.

I did, I thought I would have to have the rear end torn apart for a bad wire or something, but the fix for me was easy. Take the flashlight apart, it is pretty simple just snaps together, remove the battery and push the contacts in a little, if they are not dead on the battery the circuit inside the flashlight will not charge the battery. Might be a different problem than mine, but it worked for me.

All, I was just curious how the FWD handles in the snow. They had 0 AWD models when we picked ours out (Arizona go figure). The manual says no chains, but the low profile diamonoid chains they have out now should have plenty of clearance and do the trick for the real hairy stuff. BTW I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the journey. The dealer has been super cool about giving us a rental on the dodge oil changes that came with the Journey and I have had the opportunity to drive everything from the caravan to the liberty and the Journey is hands down the favorite!!! Yes this is a normal noise it will get lighter with time, and is directly related to the material and the newness of the transmission. The gears will wear in and this noise will disipate with time.

No you do not have to perform any upgrades to the injectors or intake. All new vehicles are equipped with a mass air flow sensor which will automatically adjust your fuel ratio for the amount of air passing through\by it. You would only have to perform modifications to this system if you were going to bolt on major performance upgrades like a super charger.

Did you have an oil cooler installed? Is it necessary? Would only be pulling a small popup. Supposedly the 3.5 with the 6 speed auto already has the trans cooler according to the manufactures specs.

Mine has this too; I think it has something to do with the airflow path through the door. If you look in the area where the hinges are, and where the wires run into the door, there are flaps of rubber where they want air to travel. My guess is that at these speeds that rubber is flapping, any faster it remains open, slower closed. This is just my best guess.

I used the 33-2206. It worked well.

I picked mine up today. Works great. A couple things to be aware of though: First, the gasket that is included with the unit is specifically for the caravan. The Journey does not have a recess along the edge of the top plenum, therefore you do not need to add the gasket. If it is added I suspect that there would be a possibility for air to get through by-passing the filter. The second item to note is that like any K&N filter, the rubber portion of the filter is a few millimeters thicker than that of the OEM resulting in a little tighter fit. You have to really push on the clips (clips are a dodge design suit the purpose, but not the best engineering) to get them up over the lip. I used a pair of pliers to aid in this. This is the second vehicle I have purchased a filter for, had one on my truck for years now, it is also a tight fit.

Thanks for the info. My Journey didn't come with the trailer prep pack, so I was wondering about the transmission cooler. If I need to add one and it appears most likely that I will, how would it be possible if the transmission is a sealed unit? You can't check the fluid level, and I would think it to be important, but they sell the aftermarket transmission cooler for the Journey at http://www.autoanything.com/suv/dodge/jour...1A23A10019.aspx, and if there was a way of adding this option, would it void the manufactures warranty?

It says on the description of the trailer tow prep package that it comes with the engine oil cooler, hitch and 7 pin wiring harness. Is the engine oil cooler a transmission oil cooler? My journey didn't come with a hitch, and I wanted to install one, but didn't know if I would needed an engine oil cooler, or a transmission oil cooler, or whether it was necessary at all. I have the 3.5L with 6 speed auto. Thanks to all for posting info on what hitches were available.

The oil change sensor is a complex system that monitors your driving style, ie. how many shifts per mile, how many miles in a given stretch of "engine on" time, and it also measures oil viscosity. If you are doing some highway driving in Colorado on the hills your probably going to be doing more shifting, therefore, the light will come on sooner. If you are making all night trips also could throw the sensor. The big one to remember is that coming from the factory your engine was shipped with break in lube, which will give the sensor inaccurate data at the start, hence the owners manual saying the bit about the breaking period oil change should be changed at 3000, even though the maint. interval says 6000. So, to answer the question about the synthetic, your Journey may throw the change oil code even though the viscosity may not be impacted. Me personally, I will be changing the oil at the 3000 mile interval no mater if the light comes on or not. Dodge has made it so simple to access the oil pan and filter on the Journey it is really no big deal. I hope this helps.

Hey all just thought I'd give you a heads up that the jack included with the Journey can't support the weight of the vehicle. I had a little trouble this weekend installing the aftermarket journey mud flaps and needed to jack up the driver side tire up for clearance factor, I used the jack included in the vehicle and it bent the screw aperture. This didn't render the jack nonoperational, but it did cause me a few issues trying to straighten it out. Maybe something to watch for in the future.

Hey everyone, Me and my wife bought a Dodge Journey SXT in the green, not at all the color on the website. It really turns heads we absolutely love it. Never thought I would be a Dodge owner, but WOW, what a great vehicle. We have owned the vehicle about a month and can't say enough good things. It truly is the nicest passenger vehicle we have owned. We have the third row seat and have already reaped the benefits of having it.
