  1. Bought a 2009 Journey, can't find the passenger front-seat unlocking strap (might be inside) any way of unlocking cushion without the strap?

    Thanks

yes , go behind the seat and look under , you will see the locking tab It's easy to unlock with one finger . Open it and replace the strap to where it should be ,,, someone must have pulled on it because it can't really fall by itself.

  2. Well, I know I wont be buying TPMS sensors for my new rims if I get them. But after being quoted $1200 at the dealership and $1000 at canadian tire, I may end up just getting the tires this year and rims next year.

What is everyone else doing for the frost? :)

i using black 16 '' steel winter wheels without TPMS with 225/70 /16 Yokohama Geolandar tires on my SXT

  3. Well the dealership gave me a super awesome quote of 1200 for rims, tires and installation / balancing. Then they quoted me $100 a tire for TPMS sensors. What an awesome phone call that was. :hysterical2:

I will be phoning Canadian tire and some other local shops next...

TPMS sensors should be around 50-60$ Cnd each ......no more.

for winter wheels you can ask wheels for dodge caravan , same bolt pattern as the Journey ... some vendors will ask more $$ for journey winter wheels just because the model is newer. i tried one of my winter wheel on a 2010 Caravan and it's a direct fit ... but the Caravan need smaller tires.

You can try to find some cheap Caravan alloy wheels at the junk yard and use them for the winter.

  4. I think I've figured it out. The other day I was driving beside a newer Audi or Volvo (was dark) suv and noticed he had side marker lights in the same spot as the mysterious wheel well holes on the journeys. I think its Dodge's cheapa** way of adding this feature.

    :finger:

no idea about #1 .... but for question #2 i noticed that not all spare tire on the Journey is covered .... i do have a cover. At first i thought that only Journeys equipped with the the four banger ( aka Journey SE ) did not have the cover ..... until i saw some SXT without it too ....

i think the cover was removed along with the rear amber turn signals for 2010 and up to lower cost ......

  5. I need to get winter rims and tires pretty soon. Do I need to get TPMS installed on the rims? The caliber needed them otherwise it would tell me I had no air in my tires every 10 minutes. The journey doesn't have an as advanced TPMS system though (the caliber shows the air pressure in each tire and stuff where the journey says a warning light will come on if one is low).

if you use your Journey without TPMS installed , you will get a one time sound chime at start up and the yellow TPMS light in the gauge cluster will blink a few times and stay on all the time while you drive ...no continuous warning sound if you are worring about that.

however , i don't know what happen when you have the EVIC system ... probably the same thing as the caliber.

  6. i am getting a funny noise at times when I am making a left turn. I know this has been talked about somewhere on this forum but I can't find the discussion on it. To me it sounds like a noise when you bounce a car on one wheel to check the shocks (springs?? suspension??) Whatever, it is only a rubbing type of noise for a second or two but it is bothering me when I make a left turn. It doesn't happen every time. I took the van to my dealer and they thought they had fixed it but it is still there. Does anyone remember where the discussion on this left turn problem is on the forum or does anyone remember how it was to be fixed.

here's the topic about it :

  7. Hi I just got my Journey and so far I love it, Ido have a question though - I know there is a usb in glove box for Iphoneuse but to my understanding I cantload the music from iphone to hard drive so I would like t use the decoder - is that the Aux outlet in lower corner of radio and how do I connec it, do I have to buy the connecting wire from dodge or do I pick it up a store, will radio controls work it of do I play the ipod directly from the phone as it is plugged into aux??

Plug your Iphone / Ipod Touch / Ipod classic with the connector in the glove box and then press the AUX button on the radio , the music will start to play. You can use the controls on the steering wheel to up/down volume and change songs. Press the setup button on the radio to go in the option menu and use the right knob button on the radio to change directories of musics and press on the knob to select your choice.

Iphone / Ipod Touch will work and play music but the battery will not be recharged via the Cable , however Ipod Classic will recharge via the cable. ( the cable is not a USB ... it's a Apple proprietary connector )

If you have a normal MP3 player you will need a simple cable to the headphone jack of your player to the AUX of the radio. Press the AUX button to activate and i think you will need to change the songs directly on your MP3 because it won't work with the controls on the steering wheel.

  8. Which Geolanders do you use? And I assume you like them. Is your Journey FWD or AWD?

My Journey is FWD , i will tell you tomorrow witch exact model of Geolanders i have , they are in storage right now but accessible .... i can tell you so far that they are very good in the snow/slush and i noticed that they are very silent for a winter tire.

  9. Just picked up my 2010 Journey RT/AWD yesterday and having some fun exploring it today. Can anyone tell me what the hooks on the back of the driver's seat are for? I went through the owner's DVD and saw a picture of them but no explanation.

    Thanks.

first , welcome to the forums !

you can use them for everything :) But they are Grocery bags hooks ... you hang your bags on the hooks so they don't slide under the seat ..

  10. I've had my 2009 Journey SXT since May '08 and I really do like the car. 25,600 so far and not many complaints. I just replaced my front rotors and pads, and cleaned up the rears. Now I'm looking for tires and am running into the Kumho/Dodge bed-partners problem. If I had known when I bought the car... I would have gotten a different size wheel. I did have one tire damaged by a large metal shard, and the dealer replaced it no charge - I have the tire warranty.

I will be getting winter wheels/tires set soon, size 225/65/17. Any other suggestions?

for summer i use 225/65/17 and for winter i use size 225/70/16 ( yokohama geolander )

  11. I noticed they changed the dodge badge.

it was a rumor but now we all can see the new logo :)

it will be interesting for performance parts now .. because the new jeep Cherokee , Journey and now the new Durango are very similar .....with the journey getting the new Pentastar V6 in 2011 it will be easier to swap parts.

i think Cherokee / Durango price tag will be higher than the Journey ...

  12. Did you end up opening it up? Just curious to know whats in there. I'm hurtin' to put my 12" Kickers somewhere. Mind you, it does sound nice and balanced stock. I have a 2010 SXT with the REQ radio.

    [/quote

i have premium convenience package and i don't have the sub.... i think you get it only with the MYGIG option. Don't know whats behind the grill , you probably need to remove the entire left plastic panel to sneak behind ....

  13. ~console around shifter gets hot

happened ( noticed ) to me only one time in one year of ownership. It was at night on a long trip and it was very hot outside. I figured out that it was probably the incandescent light bulb inside the console ...but i could be wrong. If it's really the bulb producing the heat it could be easily replaced with a LED type bulb .. problem solved

  15. Which is the part no. of the rear dash monitor+AC controls>?

    Where can I buy it?

well , i do not have a very helpful reply but your Dealer know the P/N and sell it too ! :)

Do you have the third row seats ? because this AC controls is for the second blower in the back of the car ..... unless you already have the simpler rear AC controls and you want to swap it with the DVD unit ?

  16. front passenger side corner of the hood.

Corner of the hood ?? must be the end of the fender near the headlight because the hood itself can't rust : it's made of aluminum.

Corrosion ? paint too thin on that spot ? well check with your dealer and in your car manual that kind of thing must be under warranty.

  17. Right sorry for sounding thick, but if I buy these alloys they are 5X114 7.5 JX 18" ET40 will they fit and they tyre size is 235/50/18. Or would it be ok if I bought the alloys from there and the tyres from somewhere else. Im confused now dont have a clue what all this means. The website is on the pics, but these sizes are quoted are from ebay the title is Dodge Journey alloys and tyres. :rant2: take a look and pleasee help me

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/18-ST-HUSTLE-ALLOY-WHEELS-DODGE-JOURNEY-TYRES-/140439659922?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET

I cant see how the title can be that if they dont fit that car  Thanks again. Paul

with 18'' correct tire size is 225-60-18 ... with size 2XX-50-18 your speedometer will be off and it will not indicate your real speed. Also 225-60-18 size appears to have more choice of tire than 19''

  18. Hello everyone!! First I would like to say that I LOVE my 2009 Journey R/T! I bought it brand new and have driven it all over the US. My question is......... What convertible car seat fits in the middle seat best? We have an 8 month old and discovered when she was born that our infant car seat did NOT fit in the back seat very well. It would not fit in the middle without both seats moved forward, so we put in behind the passenger seat. The passenger seat needs to be moved forward so whoever is sitting there does not have much leg room. So now that its time to but a bigger car seat for her I did not want to make that mistake of getting into the same problem. So if anyone knows of a safe car seat that fits properly in the middle facing to the rear please let me know.

    Thanks

i guess you will have this problem in about any cars with convertible car seats facing to the rear. You already have found the solution by installing the seat behind the passenger seat. I know i had the same problem. Convertible car seats are big .... i saw smaller convertible car seats but there was cheap looking and i didn't want my daughter to sit in there. So we keep it that way until we where able to turn around the seat ( front facing ). It will not be very long .. kids grow fast.

this is what i have for my daughter : The Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 Convertible

  19. Are you sure you want 19'' ?? to date there is only one manufacturer ( that i know of ) that make the tire size 225-55-19 and it's the factory Kumho Solus ... they are not common and hard to get.

my suggestion is to go for 17'' with size 225-65-17 , this size is very common and lot of tires choice. But .. hey .. it's your call :)

  20. Some idiot dodge engineer and some slick Kuhmo tire guy must have made some under-the-table deal on the 19" tires on the Dodge Journey's. The 225 55 19 is a totally unique size, made only by Kuhmo for only the Dodge Journey. WHY?? It's not an exotic sports car, it's a cross-over SUV, family vehicle. Whey on earth would you put a 100% unique tire size on it? I had to put 2 new one's on my wife's...I spent an hour on the phone trying to find someone who had them in stock. I finally found a large Dodge dealer that had 2. I drove an hour and half and paid $575 to have 2 new tires put on........my a@@ still hurts........

Love the car, other than this......The fact that Dodge did this, tells me they have no regard for the consumer.......

you can downgrade to 17'' wheels and you will have plentiful choice of tires. Tires size for the Journey is 225/65R17 and tirerack.com offer about 40 .. that's a lot ...this is a very common size. This is perhaps one of the reasons why there is a lot of 19'' Journey wheels on Ebay
