  1. well tried to replace the Belt Tensioner Assembly this weekend and the mounting bolt is toooooooooooo long. it hits the frame before i can back it all the way out. any ideas? guess the factory mounted this thing before the engine was installed.
  2. getting ready to replace the Belt Tensioner Assembly and the Idler Pulley on my 2009 journey rt w/3.5L. does any one know the torque values for these items. thanks in advance !
  3. i have a 2009 rt 3.5L and get a humming/growl when at idle with the a/c running. do you get this sound all the time or just when a/c is on ty!
  4. lol my 2009 rt drives like a tank. thats what i get for buying one the first year it was out. still get allot for your $$ compared to similar models from other brands.
  5. took mine to a non dodge mechanic and they noticed the belt was slipping over the power steering pump pulley when applying a load to the engine. cleaned the pulley and replaced the belt with a new one and all is back to normal
  6. original owner of a 2009 rt with a 3.5L. also developed a ticking noise after about a year of driving. dealer changed one lifter and the noise was reduced but is still there. now they say what i hear is normal. tranny has always shifted rough and is whinny. again dealer says normal for a journey. life time on the powertrain so i will take a break from the stress of many more trips to the dealer for a while. hopefully it wont blow up in the mean time
  7. Did you ever get this fixed? I also have a 2009 and I only get the noise when the a/c is on and or I back up slowly while turning the wheel to its max. service manager said it was a bad belt but the tech inspected it and found nothing wrong. Belt tension-er, power steering pump and reservoir already changed.
  8. I get bad interference when listening to am radio. This is the odd part sometimes it goes away as soon as I turn off the head lights. Other times it gets worst when I place the car in reverse then clears up when I place it in drive. This happens all over town so it isn’t a signal problem. Didn’t do it the first year just the past few months???? ground problem ?
  9. i have had the hiss near the firewall when air con is on and trying to regulate temps. i also get a grinding noise in the 3rd row overhead when turning climate control off some times. just hit a dear and have a new rad and condenser with a full charge so that isnt the problem. did you ever get it fixed?
  10. a year later and the noise is still there. latest dealer says its normal gear noise duhhhhhhhhhh. tranny shifts rough when cold and a/c still hisses when regulating temp. but with all these glitches i still love the journey. with all the rebates and the extended warr the dealer threw in you get more for your $$
  11. wow i posted this a while ago. well i still get the hiss mostly around 70 deg. F when it tries to regulate the temp. dont think it is related to a/c charge. i just got my journey back from the shop thanks to a deer taking a nose dive into the radiator. i now have a new radiator and condencer with a full charge and still get the hiss. one dealer said it might be a vac leak they said the ventilation doors are moved by vac ? not sure if thats true.
  12. Just got my journey back from service and they said the whine is caused by a bad power steering pump and they needed to order the part. Why the original dealer sold me this car with a defective noisy pump is beyond me and that’s why he won’t get any of my business in the future. The hiss was fist diagnosed as a vacuum problem but later changed to a software update to the dvd / nav. I still hear the hiss but it’s not as loud and doesn’t happen as often. Looks like dodge is aware of the problem and trying to correct it through software. They didn’t provide me with a tsb number but the service ticket referred to rrt 08-085 for any of you who are also experiencing this problem. I am very happy with this new service department they took the time to research any tsb’s and recalls and found 2 that my original dealer either missed or didn’t care to look for. They have been in service for over 50 years and now thanks to our new administration will be out of business as of June 9th. Guess that’s what he meant by sharing the wealth. Now a new dealer only a couple of miles up the road will get all of his business because that dealer doesn’t only sell dodge he also sells Chrysler and jeep grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!
  13. I just passed 1k miles on my new RT awd and already I am hearing all kinds of weird noises. It is equipped with 3rd row seating and has the 3 zone digital a/c controls. First I have a bad whine from I think either the alternator or power steering pump. Brought it in and they changed the idle pulley but that didn’t fix it. They claim they never heard of the tsb regarding the reservoir and said there was no outstanding recalls or tsb’s on my vehicle. Now I am also hearing a hiss from the dash or firewall area. It only does this when the a/c is on and lasts for 2 to 3 seconds then goes away for10 to 15 min. it seems to only do this when outside temp is below 75 F. could this be a low Freon charge or bad expansion device. Dealer says its normal but a friend has exact same journey and he doesn’t have this problem. Finally starting yesterday I am hearing a grinding noise in the rear overhead area when I turn off the a/c or manually cycle the rear from head to feet. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr first time owning a dodge and not impressed so far. Is there a sight glass so i can check the freon level ??????
