Took delivery of a loaded 2010 Journey SXT (FWD with 3.5 Litre, 7 passenger)......being a mechanic (ex-Ford dealership mechanic) and pretty much a life long Ford owner I told the salesman that I was a little apprehensive about purchasing the Journey but I like the look, ride and room the Journey has to offer. (Didn't find anything really comparable to the Journey on the market.) Besides the numerous Ford products I have owned over the years I also purchased a new Mazda 3 in 2004 (Still going strong with 240,000 kms) that has only recently required a little bit of suspension work.
I bought the Journey and had high expectations. To my dismay within 1 week the engine developed a significant lifter sounding ticking noise. I contacted the service department at the Dearlership and scheduled it in for service. When the vehicle went in it had 1500 kms and the mechanic said it sounded like lifters as well. They inspected the vehicle and ordered parts. (to correct the ticking noise and shifter issue)
Dropped the Journey off......picked it up after repairs (invoice states they changed the rocker arm) and low and behold within 15 minutes the ticking was back the same as before.
Contacted the dealership and was told to drive it over the weekend since the technician stated that it is common for the lifters to be noisy when new (unfortunately the technician is not aware that I am a mechanic and know full well the his statement is false....the service advisor is aware I am a mechanic/technician)
Bottom line....not impressed so far......sad to say.
Is this issue that common place with this 3.5 litre?
