  1. Thanks for the response Chris. I know you probably can't divulge too much until they come out, but are we talking firmware or hardware? Will it already be implemented on a new Journey that is still being built at the factory?
  2. Stupid question: Were you driving over fairly bumpy/uneven road when this happened? My first instinct is to think a short might be the culprit, or a loose connection that is only losing connection when jostled loose.
  3. Interested to hear the outcome on this one. My DJ is still on order and I was looking forward to having the sub to add that deeper bass punch. Hopefully there is an easy solution.
  4. Well put, the rating really isn't there for Chysler's well being. It's there to provide the customer an allowable range through which the customer can expect the vehicle to perform within design parameters. Same idea with towing speeds on trailer tires or if we want to think of Ag equipment (more my world) the towing speed rating. Exceed the range and expect things to wear out sooner, on your dime.
  5. Something tells me this can only lead to seal replacements and/or driveline damage. All the best!
  6. Yeah, it seems to be fairly consistent int terms of the usual mileage the indicator goes on, but with some variance. I would be very interested to see what kind of algorithms it depends on, even the specific inputs the system takes and the weights that each are given.
  7. Fair enough, I was just trying to help. I've noticed with my Caliber that it does seem to vary slightly, but it usually chimes at around 5000km. That is fairly typical for the climate we have here in Saskatchewan. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Caliber has some sort of oil life determinant as well, probably different from the one the Journey uses however.
  8. I thought that the oil change indicator depended on driving style/conditions. Page 580 of OM... " Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic oil change indicator system. The oil change indicator system will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. Based on engine operation conditions, the oil change indicator message will illuminate. This means that service is required for your vehicle. Operating conditions such as frequent short-trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures, and E85 fuel usage will influence when the “Change Oil” or “Oil Change Required” message is displayed. Severe Operating Conditions can cause the change oil message to illuminate as early as 3,500 miles (5,600 km) since last reset. Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km)."
  9. I attempted to respond to your PM, but alas I do not have 30 posts yet. I have emailed the dealer and requested it so I will hopefully have it soon. I will attempt to up my post count to 30 and then respond to your message. Thank you for your assistance, it is truly appreciated.
  10. Hi all, I've been reading the forums and found that in the past a person could actually track their vehicle order using the Chrysler website. Is this still possible in Canada? I never even got an email saying the I had ordered a vehicle or anything. The only thing I can get out of my dealer is that it now has a serial number. Maybe it's just me, but it would be really cool to be able to track the build process, or even just recieve an email from Chrysler with some information. I've thought about sending DodgeCACares a PM on this, but I don't have 30 posts yet so no dice. Anyone know anything about the above? Cheers.
  11. Let my start by saying that I found this particular thread to be a very interesting read. I too am going to be moving from a Caliber to a Journey (it's ordered... don't have a build date yet and my dealer is kind of slow to respond to email/inquiries). I would have loved the diesel option to be available in the NA market, but as with so many others models we can't seem to expect that to happen. Any of the original posters investigate steel rims for winter tires? I've seen the issue brought up elsewhere on the forum but I'm interested to hear more. Can't really complain or add anything to the wants list since I don't have my Journey yet, but in theory I agree with most of the list. Except for the desire for the unlock/lock to be in the center, that just seems backwards to me. That's just me though, to each their own. Cheers.
  12. Was the Journey lacking oomph before the light came on? How many miles/kilometers do you have on the Journey?
  13. Well hopefully that picks up for you... as of right now you are a long way from the quoted mileage. Of course that mileage is in absolutely perfect conditions but I would expect that we should see somewhere near those numbers.
  14. Looking forward to hearing about your experience with the new Journey! I am still waiting to take delivery of my new Journey, if it performs as good as it looks I will be more than happy! Best of luck and welcome!
  15. Reading the posts above, you believe it is the #3 cylinder due to the repeating cylce of blinks? Does it happen constantly or just at random? The above post by rozwell911 outlined some really good information.
  16. Found this thread on the forum here: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/205-center-stack-bezel/?hl=dash Also read another one where a fella used a product called plasti dip (think it comes in an aerosol can, someone can clarify) and painted it black. Hope this helps, or at least gives you some ideas.
  17. What year of Journey are you driving? Glad you got the problem solved. What was the issue?
  18. Perhaps I wasn't clear about the storage space I envisioned being lost, my apologies. I was thinking of the space the rear row of seats folds into (under the floor storage in the case of the 5 seat model). I really like what Dodge has done in terms of storage comparments on the Journey. It is something my Caliber never had and I usually carry a couple of (flat-ish) tool kits and roadside emerg kits that will fit perfectly in the Journey compartment. They currently just float around the back of the vehicle.
  19. It's looking like more snow for tonight... bleh! I envy all those who are enjoying spring weather right now. Thanks for all the welcome messages.
  20. Went with the 5 seater since I would rarely have need for the extra two seats. The added storage space in the back that is lost with the addition of the 3rd row was also not very attractive. I know a few people who drive other vehicles similar to the Journey that added the extra two seats in the back and they didn't feel it was worth it in the end.
  21. Reviving this one a little long after the last post here, my apologies. Any update from Chris on this one? I just ordered my 2013 R/T Rallye and I'm interested to see what kind of fuel economy you are getting now. Where abouts do you fill up usually? As you can see, I am also in S'toon. Not expecting my Journey to arrive till end of June from factory (sigh).
  22. Hi all, I just ordered my 2013 Journey R/T Rallye. I'm quite excited for it to arrive, I'm just wondering whether we will see spring on the praries or my Journey first! The specs: 2013 Journey R/T Rallye Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Nav & Sound Driver Convenience Group Roof Rails Looking forward to contributing to the community where I can.
