Try putting the vehicle in neutral and then start it. If it starts it may be the neutral safety switch which is inside the transmission causing the problem.
-
So the problem was bad lifters? I've got the same noise but it started at around 90,000km. Currently over 110,000km

Well not to hate on the guy he did investigate alot more than the other 2. Hes dealt with alot of dodge vehicles and has alot of issues with the 3.5l pentastar engines. He basically told me he'll put in a used engine which would cost about $1800 has about 82000km on it or a new engine closer to $5000... the other mehcanic just gave me a estimated cost to fix of $1000-$3000 just from listening to the engine run for about 5 min. The third mechanic who said its probably a connector rod didnt even want to deal with it cause he said the 3.5l pentastar engines are so sketchy you fix one thing something else will go.
-
The mechanic who said the engine needs to be replaced said it was a knock in the engine but why replace the whole engine with another used one instead of fixing it?
-
Dodgecacares; i haven't taken it to the dealer since the closest dealer is about 400km away. I did take it to 3 different mechanics. One says something is worn out, the other says i need a new engine all together and the other said it may be a worn out connentor rod. No one has been able to be find out what the cause is 100%. They all said i shouldn't be driving the vehicle at all and i drove about 3500km while having the problem come up(drove from top of the province to the bottom, and back).
The change oil indicator light did not light up, instead a message comes up when you first start the vehicle (where the digital campass and thermometer is located).
-
My engine just started making this noise as well. Oil level is okay. The message comes up saying oil change required but even after getting an oil chnage it doesn't go away. The check engine oil light does not come on though. Its a 2010 rt with about 98000km. You can hear it while idling and it gets quieter when you put it in gear and then increases for a bit when you put it back in park. Also increases at higher rmps around 2500-3000.

Do you still have the video up? I think i have the same problem as you did.

I have some pics on my profile

I had 22s on my dj over the summer. Only issues were turning since the battery sits right infront of the driver side tire in a metal housing which makes contact while turning. Other than that no issues. People stare you down when your cars all shined up and cruising down the main strip. It does feel a little heavier and you do have to be more careful when driving in area's with bad roads and pot holes.

anyone on here install any type of off road exterior lighting on their journey? I'm planning on getting a short light bar to go around the lower grille area and possibly a longer one around 50 inches to be mounted above the windshield.

im barely on these forums. I have a few pics on here but not many. There is some on my FB/IG page; facebook.com/dipabbotsford.

Nice job, looks great! I have my whole journey dipped matte black, Im also a DYC authorized installer.

You need a 50watt canbus hid kit, mine also cost me about $120 -$140. I had a 35watt version and even after getting error decoders and inline canbus capacitors, the bulbs woudn't stop flickering until I upgraded my ballasts.
-
I just replaced my fogs to 6000k cree LED's. Have 8000k 50watt canbus hid kit for low beams. Im looking to disable my day time running lights from the highbeams and make my fogs into DRLs. Also have all turn signals, brake, reverse lights and marker lights switched to LEDs

any update on these yet?
-
is this for all canadian tire locations across canada or just your local area?
-
i found these as well a few days ago but im not planning on putting out $500-$800 for these maybe if they were around $200... so far theres 2 postings on ebay. please post pics whoever does buy them and install them!!

I just put 22s on mine, the tire size is 265 40r 22. The front tires rub when turning so im going to have to change them to 30 or 35. gives it a nice mean aggressive look and hides the wheel well space good.

ive found this listing on ebay and contacted the seller, he said it is for the journey although the picture in the ad shows a nitro. still debating on whether i should buy it or not.

Under the dash meaning on the passenger side by the door. I have the add-a-circuit but it has two fuses. It didn't come with instructions. I get that one of the slots is for the original fuse, but what about the other? If I have two 10 amp fuses have I just put a 20 amp fuse in it? Also, per one of my questions, where should I tap into to get the effect of turning on the LED lights when I open my door?
The 2 slots in the add a circuit are for 2 different fuses, so you have two 10amp fuses they dont add too 20amps, you've just added another 10amp fused circuit thats all. And for the door lights im not sure about which wire it is, you're going to have to check the wiring manual and look at which wires lead to the led lights and back to the main harness, also check where the connections are to the dimmer. Sorry i cant be more of help on that specific subject. Let me know if you have any other questions.

By under the dash do you mean where the accelerator/brake pedals are? and are you just using 2-wire led strips or do you have a kit (ex. led glow footwell light kit)?. easiest way to connect to the fuse would be by using an "add-a-circuit", google it for more info. i believe the '10 journey uses mini type fuse not sure about the '12, most likely the same.

Local shop charged me around $1500 CDN after taxes. Mostly labour as parts were cheap.
