  1. thought i had read somewhere that the hood on the journeys were made out of aluminum. so i checked out my 2011 mainstreet with a magnet and yes both the hood and the hatchback must be made out of alumiun. i knew the hood was made of real thin metal as washing it you dont want to push hard on it or while leaning over washing the bottom of the car dont lean on it as you can feel it flex real easy. hope the new metal holds the paint on, and we dont have no problems with them.

I have a 2009 R/T. It is my understanding that the 2009's had an alumium hood and a composite rear hatch.

  2. I also have a 2009 R/T and find it to be a very smooth ride. The demo unit I took out impressed my wife and I for its quiteness and smooth ride and our own vehicle is just as good.

At the time we were looking we also test drove a Ford Escape and Edge and we found that both of these had a much rougher ride than the Journey.

  3. Hi, Does anyone here knows how to replace headlight assembly?its on the passenger side..I got the replacement parts but i dont know how to replace it. Any help.. many thanks..

    _______________

    for BMW headlight assembly

    BULB REPLACEMENT

Low Beam Headlight, High Beam Headlight, Front

Turn Signal/Park Light, Side Marker Light

    1. Open the hood.

NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the air cleaner

filter housing and position the Totally Integrated Power

Module (TIPM) aside to replace certain the lights in the

    left headlight housing.

    2. Rotate the applicable bulb and connector assembly 1⁄4

turn counterclockwise and remove the assembly from the

    headlight housing.

    3. Disconnect the bulb from the harness connector and

    then connect the replacement bulb.

    4. Install the bulb and connector assembly into the

headlight housing and rotate it 1⁄4 turn clockwise to lock

    it in place.

This is on page 462 of your owners manual.

  4. Just a quick question for all fellow Journey owners. Is it normal that when the armrest is fully forward covering the cubby hole there's a gap between the bottom of the armrest and the center console it sits on??? This does not occur when it's slid all the way back. I may be obsessive, but it's something I'm conerned about....

    Yes it's normal...

  5. Hi

I was hoping to find some pictures of how people might have wired up a rear view camera to their lockpick. I'm a bit leery of pulling panels off without knowing what I'm doing. I have the REU system and rear camera already factory installed.

Go to the following website and scroll down to the Journey BackUp camera and download the pdf. This is the install document for the Journey backup camera. Hopefully it will provide some useful info.

  6. Just bought a used Dodge Journey with 18K and I want to know if there is any way to disable the motion sensor for the navigation? Annoying having to pull over to enter address. I love it though!

The rest of us on the road appreciate the fact that you have to stop to enter an address. Don't try to bypass this safety feature....

  7. Question... mine has a picture of a mini dodge journey and it says "x2" inside of it...

    what is that?

Mine doesn't have the mini journey but a circular arrow with the x2 inside it. This is the remote start and you must press it twice.

  8. Anybody know how the cargo mat fits?

The cargo mat fits pretty well. Not as snug as the front mats but it is a good fit and it has already saved me from some messes in the cargo area. Just take it out and hose it down. I also have the front mats. The Husky mats are a quality product and worth the price.

  9. This sounds like the same noise I had. Have the dealer check the front windshield cowl. There is a TSB for this. It cured my noise immediately

I don't think what you had is the same problem. The wind buffeting is a common problem that I have had in all my recent vehicles and cannot be corrected by changing a cowling. Below is a portion of the Journey manual discussing this buffeting noise:

    Wind Buffeting

Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of

pressure on the ears or a helicopter type sound in the

ears. Your vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the

windows down, or the sunroof in certain open or partially

open positions. This is a normal occurrence and can

be minimized. If the buffeting occurs with the rear

windows open, then open the front and rear windows

together to minimize the buffeting. If the buffeting occurs

with the sunroof open, then adjust the sunroof opening to

minimize the buffeting or open any window.

  10. i rotated my tires and now can not get my light to go off does anyone know how

Unless there is a problem the TPMS should reset itself automatically once the low pressure has been rectified. I just took my winter tires off. The first time I started the car after the summer tires were installed the TPMS light came on for a few seconds and then went off. It has not been back on over the last few weeks.

  11. Hey everyone ! Ordered a 2010 dodge journey r/t awd in inferno red with all the options minus the nav and flex seating, dying from the suspense !

I hope you ordered it with the beige interior. Pretty well all Journey's have the black interior and the beige is so much nicer. I have a 2009 R/T in Inferno Red with the beige interior. There are a few pics in the photo gallery. It is a great car. Welcome to the club...

  12. Hey there, I'm considering a Dodge Journey, and I'd love to hear from those of you who launch boats regularly.

What's the approximate weight of your boat (or just length/description if you don't know)?

Do you have a FWD or AWD Journey?

Any trouble on the boat launch ramps?

Traction issues with FWD's and big boats?

AWD not xferring torque appropriately to the rear when slippery?

I'm trying to decide if the Journey or Traverse is my next vehicle: I need to launch/pullout a ~3200 lbs boat with trailer brakes (hydraulic, surge-activated) on a wet, grassy ramp.

Interesting info: my 2.4l 4 cyl Jeep Patriot FD1 CVT can pull this boat out when locked in 50/50 4WD... It's a slow pull, and the vehicle is only rated for 2000 lbs.... But my Grand Caravan FWD doesn't have the traction.

I have a AWD R/T and tow a 20 foot pontoon boat. Boat, trailer and gear is probably close to 3,000 lbs. Normal tow distance is less than a mile. Boat launch is loose gravel and I have never had a problem. A neighbour does have problems pulling his boat out with a FWD Caravan.

  13. If so, how do you power them on and off? Can't find anything. Also...what it is handle beneath the glove compartment?

There is no switch. They either come on when the car is running or when the headlights are on. They are accent lights and are very dim. It has to be very dark in the cabin to notice them. I doubt that you would know that they are on if the normal cabin lights are on.

  14. I need help from anyone out there who has a 2009 dodge Journey

My mother recently just bought a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT.

I am trying to help look for some winter tires and I realised that she has a set of Perelli 215/65 R16 Sottozero Winter Tires that she only used for one winter on her Dodge Caravan.

The only reason I am contemplating using the other tires is because they are still quite new, great quality and Money is very tight for her so it would be a huge savings if she could still use the tires that she already has.

The other factor is has been difficult to find the correct size winter tires for her car.

So if anyone knows if I can use her existing tries that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

Yes you can use a smaller size but you must get a size that maintains the same diameter as the larger tire so that you do not change the speedometer reading. The size specified for the Journey is 225/70/16. You must also get the proper rims so that it does not interfere with the brakes. My R/T had the 19" tires and I have installed 225/70/16 winter tires. I am finding that the speedometer is reading about 5% faster (as compared to my GPS) with these tires installed. You need to go to one of the tire web sites to check the diameter difference between the 2 tire sizes.

  15. I have a 2009 R/T so I can't comment on the 2010 turn signals other than other forum members have stated that the amber turn signals have been deleted for 2010. I have ordered 16" snows and rims for the winter. There is more choice in both the 16's and 17's but the 16's are cheaper. I have also been told that for a winter tire having a higher side wall is better.

I'm getting the rims, tires (Hankook), and pressure sensers for just over $1,000 installed. Of course it helps that my son works at the dealership.

  16. I have found with all the Ford vehicles I have test driven over the various years that their ride is very harsh and does not compare favourably with other cars/suv's. Before purchasing the Journey R/T, I first took out an Escape, which neither the wife nor I liked. We then decided to take out an Edge, thinking it would have a much better ride, wrong. I found both Ford's had a much harsher ride than the Dakota I had at the time. I like the look and finish of the Fords but I could not live with that ride.

I find the Journey has a very nice ride and is extremely quiet. I also have become quite fond of the interior but I do think that the beige interior I have is far superior to the usual gray/black found in most Journeys
