I think the tow rating belies the car's actual capability. Of course, as a dealer service manager I cannot publicly condone towing over the posted limits, but my experience was just like yours. The car showed absolutely no sign of struggle and handled the load with ease. Just like yourself, I monitored all the temperature values in the EVIC and yes, even the fuel economy did not suffer drastically. Now, my camper weighs less than yours and our trip was on level terrain but it was done in 90 degree weather with the A/C on. The nice thing about all this is that now I know that if we want to go a significant distance with the camper, there's peace of mind knowing the car is well within its design parameters rather than straining at its limit.

Our vacation we just got back from ... SW Ontario to CapeCod Mass. -- 4500kms round trip and the R/T was just AWESOME !

The hatch door is too tall and heavy to close!! It's terrible for most women under 6 feet.
please offer a self open and closing (motorised) hatch door feature for new model, that would be most awesome and I will gladly pay the extra price. (don't forget to add it to the remote aswell)

congrats! I have the '12 DJ R/T - absolutly LOVE it ... couple of minor issues its going back to the dealer this friday for but all in all I absolutly love it! .... best part that I just realized today is that the V6 AWD gets the exact same fuel mileage as my Mazda6 2.3L ... same size tank too ...
So we get the benefits of a V6 "SUV" with the fuel mileage of a 4 cyl ....... either that, or my Mazda6 was just horrible on gas.
