  1. Phoenix is a new series of V6 engines which Chrysler is supposed to start introducing in the 2010 model year. By 2014, they are to have replaced all of the current V6s. They are supposedly going to have several features which will give them better performance as well as better gas mileage. http://www.allpar.com/mopar/phoenix-engines.html
  2. Has anyone heard anything regarding which of the new Phoenix V6 engines will go into the Journey and when it will do so (2010 model? 2011 model?)?
  3. Crazy. And here I am in Indiana - which does not have front plates - and I've always received mounting brackets. Sounds like some sort of a government project!
  4. We currently own a 2007 Jeep Liberty Limited (the second Liberty which we've had) and like it reasonably well but are giving serious thought to jumping ship and getting a Journey, probably late next year. Just wondered if there are any former "KJ" owners on this board who now have Journeys and, if so, what are their opinions of the differences.
  5. Press your dealership and I bet they'll come up with one. Unless I'm mistaken, they have to furnish you with one, since you could move to a state which has front plates. Indiana doesn't have front plates, either, but every new car I've ever bought had a mounting bracket.
  6. Probably good advice, except that doing 70mph in a 70mph zone will probably get you run over.
  7. Only a tad. And the Journey is actually "longer" inside due to the transverse-mounted engine.
  8. Mmmmm, that would depend on what you mean by "properly adjusted". Having spent several years driving trucks, I want my mirrors set so that I can see along both sides of my vehicle. It's pretty hard (for me, anyway) to back into tight spots if I can't see how close I am on both sides. That's why I'm such a proponent of blind-spot mirrors.
  9. Has anyone else noticed how close the Journey is (size-wise) to the original Durango? Other than being about 4 1/2" lower, it's very close to the same size. (I don't know that there's any real significance to that, but thought it was interesting.)
  10. Using (or, rather, attempting to use) your windshield washers when the fluid is too low for the pump to pick up can result in a ruined pump.
  11. Unless operating under the most extreme conditions, I can't see the justification for extra cost. The difference between PAOs and a high-quality PCMO made with a Group III lube base oil is minimal. I'll stich with my good old Havoline 5W-20, Purolator PureOne filters, and 3K/3 month changes.
  12. Get a pair of stick-on blind spot mirrors. I wouldn't be without them.
  13. Are you talking about the I4? I thought the 3.5 V6 had a timing chain (rather than a belt), no?
  14. I would stick with 3K/3 month change intervals, a quality conventional PCMO (my personal choice being Havoline), and Purolator PureOne filters. Except under the most extreme operating conditions, I can not see the justification for spending the extra coin for synthetic oil. There's just not that much difference between PAOs and today's Group III mineral lube base oils.
