  1. I don't make that drive all the time but when I do, it is so much nicer in the Journey. Hands free phone use, hands free radio control, satellite radio, USB port for the iPod. And last but not least 283HP!!!
  2. Thanks. I did not know that there was aftermarket products such as these available. Watched the short video install video for the Journey; does not get much easier than that.
  3. Fantastic! I would like to drive the Chry 200 with this motor in it. I can't believe the take off in my FWD Journey; I would imagine its even more so in the 200 or Avenger. It will be interesting to see if they do indeed throw a turbo or two on this engine.
  4. Gotta get the Husky Liners. They are so nice for keeping the vehicle clean. Just pull them out, hose them off and put them back in. With kids, they are even more useful.
  5. I'm curious to how your time would compare with letting the tranny in "D" and just letting it do its own thing. I am quite impressed by how the transmission keeps the revs up when you are hard on the gas from a stop. It seems to be programmed to keep the revs up under hard acceleration. How about one more run for the records; this time in D. ??
  6. Yeah, they DONT do their homework on how much replacement tires cost, how much a lost key costs to replace, if their vehicle requires synthetic engine oil, and on and on.... 80% of the people don't do their homework. They just look at all the "bells and whistles". That was my point in the first place.
  7. The expensive key replacement problem has been going on for some time now. I wanted a spare just unlock the doors on my 08 PT Cruiser so I got a $5.00 one that would open the doors. I want to get one for my Journey now just in case the odd situation should arise. Hopefully I never leave my FOB in my dirty pants pocket...... In my opinion there is a bigger issue that salespeople/manufacturers have with these new vehicles. It is these ridiculously sized tires/wheels that they put on vehicles that cost a fortune to replace when they wear out. Other than the looks, they do not seem to benefit anything. I've been selling tires for about 20 years now and it gets worse all the time. The worst part is telling a customer how much they are when they have NO CLUE as to what they are in for. Why does a small "cross-over", "utility", "station wagon" have to have a 225/55/19 tire on it? And do the salespeople warn a customer that they will be spending about a thousand bucks every 18months for tires? Of course not; they need to sell cars. Sorry I got off the key FOB subject here, but the tire thing really twists me.
  8. I just got and installed the front splash guards for my 2012 Jorney Crew today. According to the parts dept at the local Dodge dealership the rear splash guards have a tentative release date of March 1, 2012. He also stated that these dates are usually over optimistic. I figured the front ones were better than nothing for now.
  9. Same here. I have a 2012 Crew with the 8.4 UConnect without backup cam or Nav. I was wondering how much it would be to add the nav to my vehicle too.
  10. Find a suitable product and spray it on yourself if you want to add more stain repellant. I worked at 3 different Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler dealerships as a the clean-up guy. One of the biggest profit products they used to sell was "Stain Repellant" and "Corrosion Protection Application". The prices they charged were outrageous for both items. They actually had a guy come in and apply both items. It took him 30 minutes total to do both. That was the late 1980's and early 90's. The salesman just salivated when they sold these "add-ons". I've never used these products myself. We have a good Bissell carpet cleaner that we use in the house and use it on the car seats about once a year or when a bad stain pops up. I think that drb227 might also be correct about the built in stain repellant in the factory seats/fabric.
  11. Thanks. It sure makes some of my 1.5hr drives to work a lot more pleasurable. This is my first vehicle with hands-free communications also and that is one of those, "how did I do without this" features.

  16. I have a 2012 Dodge Journey Crew FWD with the 8.4 UConnect system. I have two questions regarding accessories. 1. Has anyone come across seat covers for a 2012 Journey yet? A couple of parts suppliers I deal with say that no one is offering covers for the 2012 model yet. The 2011's are different because of armrests & airbags. 2. This vehicle does not have the backup camera or Navigation. The camera does not interest me, but I'm curious as to what it would take to add the navigation to the existing Uconnect system. Has anyone done this or know whats involved to add it? Thanks in advance for any help.
  17. I'll have to try it out on my 2012 Journey Crew. I saw the option in the settings to turn them on, but didn't because I run with the headlights on 99% of the time anyway.
  18. What in the world is a "lockpick" other than what I am thinking of as the tools used to actually pick a lock????
  19. Hello all. I got my 2012 Journey Crew FWD last week. Unfortunately I cannot say that I own it because it is a company leased vehicle. I have to say, though, that it is quite a step up from my 2008 PT Cruiser with a manual trans that I had before. It was hard to keep the foot out of the "go" pedal for the first 1,000mi. but I got to give it a little juice yesterday on the way home. That 3.6 just pulls like a freight train. 5,000RPM seems to be the sweet spot. I haven't seen a whole lot of Journey's here in NE PA and after driving this one for two weeks I don't see why. Lots of room, good visibility, great features and loads of power. This thing is awesome!
