  1. Hey bramfrank, in my DJ, I can use the radio controls' (touchscreen and steering wheel buttons) to control my iPod when it's connected thru bluetooth. To answer your question, my thumb drive is 4gb with roughly 170 songs. Since I only have that many songs, I don't run into the problem of not recognizing 256+ songs, where I've seen many people post about. Are the controls sluggish? Not at all, not even bluetooth. For A/C, the system responds to my input (touchscreen/hard buttons) within milliseconds. Same goes for music controls; except bluetooth music, it takes about half a second when I try to change song and stuff, which isn't a big problem for me. I guess the 2011 4.3's have this problem. I do hope its just a software issue, maybe when I bring it in to service next time, they'll update the firmware or something. Thanks and glad to hear that it works for you. So you're saying that your 2011 8.4" can connect to a bluetooth music source while having something plugged into your USB? If so, then it sounds like that my DJ has a software issue and can be easily fixed thru an update or something. thanks!
  2. Now I really wanna meet my primary school classmates

  3. I'm not sure if any of you have noticed, but on the 4.3 Uconnect system, I can't connect to a bluetooth music source when there's something plugged in to the USB (usb thumb drive). I want to do this because I put my music onto the thumb drive, and my sister wants to listen to her iPod's music when she's driving. I know that her iPod can simply connect by unplugging the thumb drive, but is there a way so you don't have to unplug and replug it in every time? Thanks!
  4. I think I ate something raw.

  5. That looks really nice, especially the red stitching :P It would be perfect if the dodge logo on the grille had the red bit on it.
  6. Out for 12 hours, so tired D:

  7. Boxing day shopping this year, for realz

  8. The first three trending pages on 9gag are all meme emotes on Facebook.....

  9. Finally caught up with 9gag, I can now drift to sleep.

  10. Incase you haven't seen it yet, here it is:
  11. Wow they let you take the car home? I don't think that'll ever happen with the Dodge's here in BC. A few years back when my Dad was buying a mercedes, that dealership did let us drive it back home (~40km) to check whether our driveway would scratch the bumper/bottom of the car. I guess Americans work by a different set of instructions or something. But they were really nice to us, I think they were just really strict with the rules. Yeah I hope we won't had to deal with that dealership ever again, other than those costly maintenance and stuff.
  12. Well that was my Dad's choice because he thought the dealership would be honest with us, and also because if we didn't buy it that day we would lose all our deals. Well this has never happened to us before, I'm sure my dad has learnt the lesson. But we're quite happy with what we got though, because the dealership gave us a 5.0" GPS, roof cross bars, free doc fees etc, and employee pricing. Great car nonetheless~
  13. Well some dealerships and salesperson are just not honest. My dad and I went to the dealership on Nov 1, we were asking the salesperson about the upgrades etc, e.g. standard 8.4 on all R/Ts, he said yes. Leather seats on all R/Ts, yes as well. He told us about a R/T that pretty much fitted what we wanted, and we decided to buy that one. It was a 2011 model, and they wanted to clear the lot, so we HAD to pick it up the next day, otherwise we won't get all the discounts that he's giving us. The next day, when my dad was doing the payments, we found out that you had to pay extra for the leather seats, even though they're 'standard' on al R/Ts. And when we drove the car away after all the payments were done, we then found out it came with a 4.3. We couldn't do anything about it then because all the payments were done. We also didn't get a chance to test drive the car before paying because they said the car didn't belong to us yet. Nonetheless, we accepted what we're ended up with because of all the deals and extras the dealership gave us. Hope that was not too confusing, I couldn't really word the story in english. But again, some dealerships just keep giving you bullcrap.
  14. I too got a R/T, expecting it to come with the 8.4; but when I got the car, it was the 4.3 instead. I remembered clearly that the website said ALL Crew and R/T's will have the 8.4 as a standard. I've also got the 2011 brochure that said the 8.4 is a difference against the SXT, which means it should be standard on the Crew's and R/T's. Since this happened, I emailed my dealer in Vancouver and they said: It kind of sucks I know...
  15. do the icons on the side mirror light up when defrosting is activated? or is it there just to say that's a feature?
  16. Same for me. My R/T is getting 19L/100KM (~12mpg) from 90% city driving, while the spec sheets say 13L/100KM (17mpg) City. From one tank of gas (81L), I'm only getting 400KM. Even my mom's Mercedes GLK with a 3.5 V6 gets 550 KM from a 66L tank. I really hope these numbers will improve!
  17. Wow, no wonder why my '11 Canadian R/T doesn't have the 8.4", maybe it was the earlier batch. I swear I saw the brochure that 8.4" was standard on the R/T. Damn that's a bit disappointing. Anyways, the red touch on the grille looks really nice, wonder if we can replace it ourselves :P
  18. Thanks Jonathan! The Journey's at just a bit shy of 1K KM, hopefully it'll improve by the time it reaches 5K. Yeah I should've realized that the company always give the best case scenario. I'm getting around 17l/100km now, 90% city driving. I hear from other people on the forum that the fuel economy gets better as it adapts to my driving style. I'm gonna look into the My Fuelly thing, seems quite useful! Thanks! I'll definitely give that a try next time I hit the highway. Should I reset the average L/100KM? or should I just read off the current fuel economy bar? Well I only put my ear up against the side of the car when the acessories/electronics are turned on, while the engine being off. Most of the time, I have the rear vents/climate system shut/turned off. But when my passengers do want the heater/cooler, it tends to get a bit loud in the back right. It's been below 5 Celsius in Vancouver for the past week and I haven't had the problem since 2 weeks ago. I hope it continues to work perfectly. It's only at 139 songs, but 1.03GB used out of my 4g drive. The system works perfectly fine even when playing the 320K songs (which is the bitrate of over 100 of my songs). Thanks for all the help, I'll keep you guys posted!
  19. Well here's the article that I read from Autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/28/2012-dodge-journey-fiat-500-recalled-over-contaminated-brake-fl/ Basically, Chrysler's recalling roughly 300 vehicles, including the Dodge Journey and the Fiat 500, for inserting contaminated brake fluid during Oct 24 - 26 of this year. I've seen people's posts about their 2012 Journeys, so I just thought I'd share this news with you all. If you're an owner of one of these vehicles, better get it checked out! Cheers!
  20. bigtsr thanks for the suggestion! I live on the mountain so I'll definitely give that a try when I head to the city. walkmanf1 Nice to hear that you've got the same one. This journey is amazing!
  21. Wow this is great! I enjoyed reading it!
  22. Thanks for answering the questions. I usually leave the vents shut too, but when there's people sitting at the back, the noise is so loud that sometimes it disturb the conversation at the back. I guess it takes some time getting used to. As for the presets, I want them to change back to "Hold to Set" so I don't have to surf thru the un-listened radio stations with the steering wheel controls. Haha ChrisPollard, that thread was from me too :P I still haven't found a way to reset them, hopefully someone will have a solution to this soon.
  23. Hey guys, Actually bought the car a few weeks back, I just haven't thought of posting it on this forum. Here's the story, my Dad's business is 40km away from home and he works everyday, that's 80km. He decided to go with the smart fortwo 3 years ago. The car was on lease, and now that the lease ended a month ago, we started looking at new cars. This time though, he decided not to get a car for his transportation to work because he wanted to drive my old C-class to work instead. So we looked at a bunch of family cars, preferably a 7-seater. We came across the X5, GL-class, Q7, Pilot, CX9, Highlander, and finally the Journey. The X5, GL, and Q7 were all good cars, great value; except they are quite pricy. Then we looked at the rest and thought the Pilot, CX9, and Highlander were not worth the price compared to the Journey. The CX9 and Pilot didn't have a powerful engine, and quite squished in the third row; and the Highlander was pretty expensive. And we went down to the Dodge dealership to take a look. We decided to go with the 11's over the 12's because we could talk down the price since they want to get rid of their stock. We were specifically looking at the R/T's because we needed the AWD. There were only (I think around) 4 R/T's left. They had different options and were silver, red, orange and orange. We also wanted the 3rd row seating (don't ask why), and only the silver, and one of the orange ones had it. We especially liked the silver one just because of the other car's colour. This silver Journey was equipped with leather seats, third row seatings, driver convenience package, and the chrome clad aluminum wheels, and all the standard stuff. Because the dealership wanted to get rid of their 11's badly, we were able to talk the car price down from 38,005, to 33500. We were also given a free external Tomtom GPS, roof crossbars (they didn't come with 11's), a hockey bag, and a free tank of gas. My Dad also told me they got rid of the documentation fees, low rate financing process fees, if we bought the extended warranty, and so we did. Well, that's the story and I thought that was quite a deal. So far I've been driving it mostly, and I'm enjoying it a lot, except I've got a few issues/questions that maybe someone could address: 1. There's a lag (as if it stopped taking any input from the gas pedal, rpm would drop, then rise back up) right before the transmission shifts to second gear. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? 2. I think the rear climate system is really loud, especially on the right side at the 3rd row. 3. After 600km, the L/100KM figure is still quite high, averaging at around 20L/100KM from mostly city driving. Will it improve over time? 4. Anyway to reset the UConnect(4.3) radio presets, or maybe reset the entire system to factory settings? Please leave me with you guys' thoughts, and any answers that you know to my questions. Thanks!
