  1. I have had a flat battery 4 times (April 10, May 21, June 10, June 22) on my Journey R/T 2011 - electrical system always checks out O.K After the third time, the dealer contacted Chrysler engineering and they suggested the steering switches (ones on back of steering wheel that control radio etc.) should be replaced. That work was done on June 15, 2011 and the battery was again flat on June 22, 2011. The service advisors report that they have had 4 others with similar complaints. I called Chrysler customer service and was given a file number. The service advisor at the dealership wants me to have the vehicle towed in to the dealer the next time it happens and they will contact Chrysler engineering again. The customer service rep. said to call them the next time it happens for followup.
  2. I had my Journey towed to the dealer with a flat battery (third time) and the driver said that a cell phone charger left plugged in could drain the battery. . .he also said that he tows about 10 Journey/minivans a week with flat batteries!
  3. I have had a flat battery 3 times. . .I had to boost it twice and today I had it towed to the dealer. The service adviser said another Journey owner had a flat battery and it was traced to the radio . . .back ordered to Sept. so the dealer took a radio from another journey.
  4. No I don't but I could check . . .won't be until Monday or Tuesday tho. apparently the engine fault I experienced is the result of something called a cam phaser which needs to be ordered and replaced, so won't see dealer or my Journey until then. Dealers should be able to the update. . .
  5. I called the dealer and explained that the EVIC would default to mpg and would like it to save to L/100Km and also when I used the remote start the engine would run for a few seconds and then shut down and the EVIC said the remote start function was disabled. . .took it to the dealer and had it flashed (update) which fixed the problems. However when I went to drive off the dealer lot the engine light came on so I left it and borrowed a loaner. Will add an update next day.
  6. I thought the dealer undercoating was excessively priced - I did have a former vehicle (Chrysler town 'n country) undercoated bottom only with black stuff and then had the panels done by Krown Rust. I have also had a Chrysler Sebring sprayed using Krown Rust (2 years in a row and then never again) and never had any rust in 11 years of ownership. (Krown Rust drips for a few days but eventually washes off the asphalt drive with the rain.) I think I will try Oil Guard this time around (it is a clear jelly like dripless material) and will likely wait until June when it is hot and the stuff can seep into all the nooks and crannies. The price will be $145 and will include exterior/interior cleaning as well.
  7. . . .as for the colours . . .all dark pigments are made in Japan and now limited to existing stock so red, black, blackberry etc. are out for now. I was able to get the dark cherry recently but at the at the time there were only 11 available in Ontario. Light colours are the only ones shown on the dodge.ca website!

A number of years ago I was given the following advice "use the accelerator like there is an egg under the pedal". Slow starts, anticipate stops and obey the limits! I learned that lesson with my '01 Sebring avg. 37 mpg on a trip up north when I followed all the speed limits. Will be interesting to see how it works out around town. I would rather have the "mass" of the Journey in a crash than worry about gas mileage. . .that's one reason I chose it over vehicles that were "lighter" and got better mileage.

Everything appears to be O.K. . . .perhaps it was a one time occurrence. Mileage for the trip was 9.4 L/100km.

On a maiden run to New Paris IN: on the morning we were set to leave for home I noticed the parking lights were on (since I had the headlight switch set to auto. I knew that I hadn't left the lights on) and when I went to start the vehicle the driver info. screen was in German and it would not start. We determined that the battery was flat and a boost returned the screen to English and the car started normally. I thought perhaps since there were several severe rolling thunderstorms during the night that perhaps the security system had been activated and ran throughout the night running the battery down. The dealer thought it wasn't likely and a check of the electrical system showed everything was O.K!?
