  1. Finally got the time to bring the car into the dealership to get the brakes done. They replaced the front rotors and pads and turned the rear ones. All under warranty and pretty good service overall.
  2. Thanks. I'll give it a go and let you know. So poetic.. ha ha..
  3. I read the owners manual and it says: "The following items are exceptions; they are only covered (if defective) for 1 year or 20,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first: • light bulbs and fuses • wiper blades • clutch discs • brakes (rotors, pads, linings and drums) • windshield and rear window • wheel alignment and wheel balancing" The keyword is defective. Does warp rotors fall under this category? Or would it be considered "normal wear and tear"? Thanks.
  4. Thanks. Yes, I'm in Canada. Reason I ask is because the dealer might give me the run-around, so I might need to show them something.
  5. My rotors are totally warped. I only have 9000kms on it. Is this warranty you speak of in the documentation for the Journey? (I don't have the vehicle at work with me at the moment so I can't check). Thanks.
  6. I have the factory hitch on mine as well. Looks exactly the same as yours, however, mine has a 4-pin wiring connector and it looks like yours is the 7pin? the dealer asked which one I wanted and at the time, I had no idea what the difference was (and he didn't know either), so I went with the 4 pin. I mainly use mine for my bike rack. I must say that I'm a little disappointed because I now realize that each additional piece you need to attach to the hitch allows for additional lateral movement... So when I'm driving and I go over a bump or turn corners, I can see the bikes in the back swaying side to side. When I'm in my garage and I look at that L-shaped adaptor (which, in your picture, you have a ball mount attached to it), if I take it and move it side to side while it's attached to the hitch, there is considerable movement... about 1/4 cm either way. Then when I attach the bike rack, it also has side to side movement because not everything fits snug. So if I put everything on, and move the bike rack side to side, it's scary to see how much movement there is. I've followed other cars with bike racks and I've never noticed the bikes moving side to side like this. This leads me to wonder how they are able to get everything to fit so tight? Am I missing something? Anyone have any pointers for me? If you want some pics with my bike rack attached, let me know and I'll post some. Thanks.
  7. Okay, here's an update. I reset the oil change light the first try. It's kind of confusing because it doesn't tell you when you've successfully reset it so I'm sitting there wondering whether or not it actually worked or not. Anyway, here's the exact procedure I followed: 1. Insert key. turn to ON position. Watch gauges do their self test. 2. Press accelerator pedal all the way down until it hits the stopper. Do this 3 times... one second apart each time. You do not need to slam the pedal. 3. After you've pressed the pedal for the third time. Wait a second. 4. Turn key back to Lock position. 5. Sit and wonder if it worked. take key out. 6. Put key back in, start car. check to see if oil reset indicator shows up. That worked for me. OBDII scan tool is a device that hooks up to your vehicle that can read any problem codes that are generated by your car's computer. Codes that normally show up as a check engine light on your dashboard. The scan tool has the ability to clear the codes, which resets the check engine light. If the problem is not fixed, however, the code will be thrown again, which will cause the check engine light to come on again. As for the oil change, it's probably the easiest one I've done in a while. The oil filter is in a super easily accessible location. My other car, a japanese model, has the oil filter in an extremely hard to access location. Below the intake manifold and just above the exhaust manifold. Hence, I have to wait until the car cools down before I can change the oil. And because it's hard to access, some of the oil drains out of the filter while I'm trying to snake it out of the engine compartment... creating a huge mess. Argh!
  8. Yes. I've run into this one a couple of times with the third hitting the second row. My wife, for some reason, always wants the second row pushed all the way back with the seatback tilted as far back as possible. I think she has this belief that the kids will go blind if they sit too close to the dvd screen. However, I have no problem adjusting the second row forward from outside the car though.
  9. Okay, I have had my Journey for about 8000km's and I love it. The addition of MyGig, integrated booster seats, bluetooth handsfree, AWD, roof rack, etc, etc... makes this car perfect for me and my family. Oh, and the smooth and quiet ride still amazes me. However, there are some things that make me shake my head and wonder "What the hell?". Here's a list: 1. Child seats. While it's great to have the child LATCH system that is 3 per seat (one on either side, and one behind the seat). The fact that the headrest cannot be adjusted up and down pisses the hell out of me. Everytime I take the child seat out or put it back in, I'm always fiddling with the stupid 3rd latch connector trying to snake it in between the headrest and the seatback. Why couldn't they have put a 1inch gap between the headrest and the seatback so that we can put the 3rd latch connector through there? 2. Poor quality brakes. I live on a hill so this may not apply to you, but at 8000Km's, the disk brakes are warped. Every american car I've owned (pontiac firefly, eagle talon, and this one) have had warped brakes. For the previous two I listed, I did not live on a hill at that time. On the other hand, all the japanese cars I've owned (Nissan altima, Suzuki XL7, and Lexus is300), did not have this problem. 3. Voice activation. I use the builtin bluetooth handsfree for my phone. It rocks. But why couldn't they have put the button to activate it on the steering wheel? And the other Voice activation button that you're supposed to control the radio with really has me confused. First of all, why two buttons? Second, if I have to push that button, I might as well just do whatever I need to do to the radio because my hand is already there and I'm looking to see where that button is anyway! I should read the manual again just in case I missed something about why there's two buttons. 4. Vehicle doesn't like to downshift. I can't explain this but it only happens when I go up the hill. The vehicle will shift up a gear at 60km/h and it clearly does not have the power to maintain speed. The car will slow down and the revs will drop to the point where the engine shudders (feels like the car is vibrating. The only other time I've felt this is when I was driving a manual stick and I accidentally started off in second gear and kept going). Anyway, I was expecting it to automatically downshift way before it got to the point of engine shudder. That's it. I know this sounds like a rant and I'm knit picking over trivial things, but those are my annoyances. So don't flame me. So do you have any annoyances? PS> When I come to think of it, the first 3 items are probably due to cost cutting measures. The 4th item looks like a problem that can be fixed with an firmware update.
  10. I'm going to do an oil change tonight. I'll see if the reset procedures work on mine. I think, from reading the above posts, the accelerator pedal needs to be pushed ALL THE WAY DOWN completely and that the key position must be in the right position. If it doesn't work, I'll just hook up my OBDII scan tool and do a reset there and see if it works.

    Bluetooth Device

hmm.... I'm not having the same issues as you. My wife and I have an HTC Touch and whenever she phones me from the car, it's loud and clear. This is also my first car with bluetooth capability and I must say that the combination of handsfree and voice recognition is unbeatable. I find it hard to believe it's the sirius signal interfering with your bluetooth... they operate on different radio frequencies... Anyway, when I come to think of it, the phone call goes through your phone and has nothing to do with your car's antennae... the bluetooth is just like a handsfree headset only it's wireless. Some things that come to mind are: 1. Could be something wrong with your phone? Try a different one if possible. Not all bluetooth are the same. Some phones transmit weak signals while others do not. Some phones work with certain cars while others do not. 2. Distance of your phone from the radio. (On my HTC Touch, it actually worked from the trunk too) 3. A good test is to phone somebody while the car is stationary and see if the cutouts still happen.

    Cargo Net

I have the 7 passenger and I have it. I didn't know I had it until I looked under the cargo lid and there it was in a plastic bag. Not using it yet because it gets in the way of the kids stroller but once they learn to walk, then I may have a use for it.
  13. I just use a piece of cardboard since I don't need to protect the seat back (just the bottom). It seems to do the trick and it costs $0 and was custom made to fit my Journey ;-)
  14. My bad. I read the fine print. The 0% doesn't apply to the Journey and the employee price discount applies to vehicles purchased between Nov 1 and jan 2.
  15. Okay, after speaking with a forum member about the arrival date of my journey (approx. dec 1st), I just happened to peruse the dodge canada website again (happens a lot), and I noticed that there is a promotion that includes an employee discount + 0% financing on the Journey. That is a great promotion in my opinion. I was planning to put half down and finance the rest and the best rate I could find up until now are normal bank rates (5+%). So my dilemma is whether is to take this promotion now and start my financing even though the vehicle hasn't arrived yet (if this is even possible) or just wait until it arrives and then pray that the promotion is still valid? If I'm able to take the promotion, is this a dumb move? Thanks.
  16. I order my Journey about a month ago and have been waiting patiently for it. Just the other day, I just happened to check the inventory on the dodge canada website for the dealership that I ordered from just to see what is there. Low and behold, there was a vehicle that match my exact specs... it even said "Sold Vehicle" on the spec sheet. I thought to myself that it can't be that fast. Anyway, there was a good possibility it was because I have not seen another vehicle at any other dealership that matched my set of options (it is an SXT with every option minus NAV, leather (if available), and smokers group). So I called up the salesperson to check to see if the vehicle was on the lot and he said it wasn't and he'd check up on it. He calls back and says that the vehicle is built but waiting for a railcar and they usually put it up on the website since the vehicle is destined for that dealership. He also said it would take another 2 weeks for delivery. That's fine with me. But out of curiosity, I phone the 1 800 number with the VIN that was listed on the spec sheet and after repeating the last 8 characters of the VIN the automated machine finally got what I said but it returned saying that the vehicle was not found. So finally, I got transferred to an actual person and they said the vehicle was in D status. I checked D status on the forum and it means the vehicle is scheduled to be built??? So I'm thinking maybe the vehicle on the website is not mine and somebody just happened to order the exact same vehicle from the same dealership but that doesn't explain why the 1 800 guy said it was scheduled to be built. So is this normal to have the website say it's in inventory at the dealer but Chrysler say it's not even built yet?
  17. That sucks... I was just going to use it for a bike rack and not actually tow anything heavy with it. Here's what it says at the Canadian Dodge website: "Trailer Tow Group (requires Convenience Group) - Includes engine oil cooler and trailer tow with 4- pin connector wiring harness" I thought the trailer tow meant the hitch.
  18. Hi Will, you got the tow package? Can you take a pic of the hitch receiver and plug? I ordered a loaded SXT with the tow package without actually ever seeing what the hitch looked like... because I couldn't find one with this package. I came across a pic on the Internet and it looked like the bumper was partially modified/cut out to allow for the hitch. Is this true? If you could post a pic of what it looks like, that would be great! Thanks.
  19. Thanks for the update. What vehicle do you have SXT? SE? R/T? AWD?
  20. Hi, just test drove another journey with the rear seat DVD and noticed that when the screen is down, there is completely no visibility from the rear view mirror. Anyone have any workarounds for this?
  21. Thanks. Dealer says there will be about 80 Journeys coming in soon so hopefully one of them will have a child seat for me to look at.
  22. Thanks guys. I found that the option is $200. Also on the original post, the Journey is not eligible for the promotion.
  23. Hello, I visited my local dodge dealer to look at some journeys and none of them have the child booster seats. I've seen many videos on the internet demonstrating this feature, but after looking at them for a while, one thought comes to mind.... How comfortable are they for kids 4+? I mean, when the seat converts to the booster, it looks like there isn't enough thigh support because the seat is shorter. Anyone with this feature have any thoughts? Thanks.
  24. Hello everyone. I'm currently very interested in getting the Journey SXT AWD and will probably get one within the next couple of months. I've test driven the R/T model and found it to be more than suitable for my needs. Since I live in Canada, I went to the Dodge.ca site to get an idea of how much it would cost with the options that I want. Here's what I have added: 1. Quick Order Pack Performance 28t for SXT AWD 2. Safe & sound Grp 3. Premium Convenience Grp 4. Flexible Seating Grp 5. Convenience Grp 1 Okay, so I keep hearing about these integrated child booster seats which would be nice for my two kids, but I can't seem to find the option... yet in the Model Specifications it's supposed to be the Family Value Grp. What does the Family Value Grp include and how much? Now I've noticed that there is a new promotion that says for eligible vehicles, they will make your payments until 2009. Yet when I click on it, it's asking me for a postal code but when I submit, nothing happens...
