  1. You can use this device (but it is expensive) LockPick.

I am also looking for overrides so the screen can be used while the vehicle is in motion. There has to be a cheaper alternative to buying this device - like a simple unlock code.

I know the Dodge dealers have a tool called "StarScan tool" for these radios only and they are able to enable and disable features. Now the trick is to find out if the tool will actually do what we want it to do. I would hate to depend on the dealer and bribe someone (tech) to unlock some features

or just bite the bullet and buy the lockpick. I would like to know if the lockpick will work on the 6 disc nav MyGig. I have not seen this radio in the lockpick lists

    Rob

  2. I found the manual - thank you. If anyone else needs information on the MyGig, you can goto http://www.chrysler.com/mygig

If you have the navigation, with the 6 disc radio, you have an REU radio and the RER is for the Regular MyGig

I was on there last night in the resources area and the "for 2009 Journey only" radio PDF was not available :dunno:

ah ha it is there now, go here

    http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/mygig/index.html

look under "MyGig resources" and that is where the PDF's are enjoy the 200+ pages

the chrysler site will not have the proper radio PDF

  3. Hi Steven,

I ordered the towing package as well. It is called the TRAILER TOW PREP and includes 4-pin connector wiring and engine cooler. There is no mention of a hitch.

Before I bought my Journey I asked for them to throw in the hitch which they agreed to except it will be an after market hitch such as Reese or Hidden or similar. The wiring will be hooked up with a 4-Pin connector.

It would seem that Chrysler does not have a hitch available for this vehicle yet although you can buy a receiver. Don't figure!

Good Luck with getting yours hooked up.

Bye the way it seems the max towing weight for this vehicle is 3500 lbs although Chrysler only recommends 2000 lbs.

    Keith

yup, I agree with keith. But I do believe the dealer would have installed the pigtail for the customer rather than just leaving it loose in the Journey

  4. The Journey SXT AWD & R/T come equiped with 225/55R 19 Kumho Solus KH16 Tires.

I asked my dealer about a warranty for the tires but it is not available. I asked about tire availability but could not get an answer except that Chrysler has to stock spare parts for the vehicle. They told me that by the time my vehicle arrives in about a month he would have an answer!

Just for the hech of it I googled Kumho web sites and was unable to to find a tire of that size for sale.

I guess I"m a little worried because on a previous new vehicle I had a tire go bad within the first month. I had to buy a new one but at least the size was available.

Anyone have any additional information on these tires, and warranties, etc?

    Thanks

I've been trying to find info as well and came up with nothing from the Kumho website.

I do believe that the tire repairs (road hazard only) are on the warranty through Dodge but I do not know about full replacement (manufactures defects). I did read someplace that the dodge dealership will prorate the warranty for replacements if the tire is no good

    My 2 cents anywho

  5. I have had my Journey for about 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. I bought a Silver Steel R/T here in Indianapolis. Now if only someone figures out a hack for the MyGIG so my wife can view movies while I am driving! :shift:

now this is only meant to be funny and not an insult, "all in good fun"

If you want the wife to watch a DVD while you are driving, this is a great way to get her outta that co-pilot seat and put her in the back and you don't have to listen to this,...:rant2:

actually, it's a great way to get her in the back seat, that way in 9 months, you can fill other seats in the Journey :baby: :baby: :baby: :baby: :baby::hysterical:

    Take care :baby:

    Rob

  6. yes, if someone knows how to override that, it would be great to have, kid in the center and passenger get some entertainment. steve

There is the lockpick for doing all kinds of locked features. Go to You Tube and type in MyGig in the search menu. There is a guys who has a Caravan and showed how to do it but some of his comments say it doesn't work for them. Be worth a try if you have the same set up, Let us know if it works. The guy had a DVD playing while the vehicle was on. He pushed the Audio (I think) button when that screen came up, he put the vehicle in Drive and while in Drive he went back to the DVD and it was playing <_<

Don't know if it will work for but let us know either way would be great

  7. I am wondering if everyone will share what they are getting for their MPG/Fuel Economy. Please state what you have received and how you calculated it. Also, what range are you getting for a tank of gas.

    Here is mine:

I am averaging 18mpg according to the computer.

I have about a quarter tank left and I have put on 300 miles so far since last fill up.

    I have the AWD R/T.

    steve

hey Steve, what did your sticker say as the "estimated" MPG?

Sticker at the dealer on an R/T AWD says 22mpg city and 30mpg Hwy ( Remember that's CDN)

  8. I'd like to know why there aren't Dodge Journeys at the dealerships to buy. Dodge has it advertised

all over the net, yet you can't find one to buy. I don't like it when I have to wait. :waiting: It feels like forever!

I wanted to go to our dealership and drive my new car home! This is some kind of torture I tell ya!!! :redcard:

hey Roxanne, I hear ya about the torture thing. I checked with my Dealer yesterday on some things and he handed me a "dealer report" and said he was 80% sure my vehicle is being built and has a VIN. He was going to photo copy it for me til I looked at it and said I hope this one is not mine as the Entertainment group 2 was not on the order. He looked further into my order and Mine has not been scheduled yet as the Entertainment group 2 is not online yet. So there is torture, having the dealer tell you the car is being built and then he says it not even slated :censored: .

Ah well he is an incredible salesman.

as for the question, I don't know what is wrong cause the dealership here has had about 7 of them so far. The last one was a black R/T with the pebble beach Yes interior, no sunroof

I check in everday cause I drive past the dealer on the way home from work.

"I don't like it when I have to wait :waiting: ". This will be you when you hear it is in I am sure,....---> :mail:,... :hysterical:

  9. I went through the manual and it looks like very low maintenance requirements. Here is my question, it says 6k oil changes, no severe maintenance track, so what does everyone think about that? If we do 6k oil changes, do you think we risk lifetime warranty problems?

Personally, i have always done 3-4k oil changes, myself, using mobile 1 synthetic. Overkill, maybe, but my durango has 130k and my ram 2500 (diesel) has 160k, no problems, thus far.

Is it just me, or is the manufactuer finally telling the truth about maintenance requirements? Funny thing is, the dealership said I still have to do a 3k oil change, required.

    Steve

Stev, I swear by full synthetic. It still breaks down the same but the friction is way less.

I had a 2000 7.3 power stroke diesel supercab 4X4 yada yada yada. Now when it is 30 below 0 (Celcius) the truck with dino oil did start with some encouragement and the glowplugs were cycled 2 times before starting. It took about 7 minutes before I could feel a slight difference in heat coming through the defrost vents. Now with Delo 400 full synthetic the same truck, same cold morning, truck started with ease and it took 14 minutes to get the same amount of heat out of the vents. Oh and I was using the clock on the stereo for time so the minutes may be off a few seconds but at least you can tell the difference it made.

    I USE SYNTHETIC

    Rob

  10. I might be a sucker, but I did. Mostly because everytime I am put in this position, no matter how much I tell my wife ahead of time, she always becomes a car salesman, "i really think its a good idea". I actually think it might have been a good deal. What do you guys all think? Did anyone else buy an extended warranty? I bought a 7 year 100K warranty, it covers more than just powertrain. Also, I bought an oil change service contract good for 5 years. I figured, that by doing so, it would create a great record at the dealership as evidence of regular maintenance, should I have a claim against the lifetime warranty or the extended warranty, later. The cost was relatively minimal for it. It was $360.00 for 5 years of oil changes (4 per year 3k each), tire rotations every other oil change, and free state and IM tests every year for 5 years. Then if something goes bad, they cant say i didnt do the service.

The bad side, is now they will push their services, most of which are unnecessary. In fact, the manager said to plan on the 15k and 30k service, but the manual says nothing about a major 15K and 30k service.

    steve

hey Steve, we will be buying the extended warranty as long as we can get it. I think here it is 7 yrs and 160,000km's. If there is a problem Dodge can foot the bill. that's the way I see it anyhow

  11. So, my 3 day old Journey got its first test today. I have the SXT AWD Journey and had a 80 mile trip this morning before dawn. At times, I was driving on the interstate in driving rain. My Journey stayed true the entire trip, I never felt even the slightest slip in handling. Its nice to ve in a vehicle that feels so driveable in sub-par weather conditions. I've driven 4WD SUVs that felt no where near as steady and sure-footed in the rain.

In short, the AWD works fantastically.

    John

nice to hear some real testimonial from actual owners rather than car journalists.

Thank you for the post John :happy feet:

    Rob/HBT

  12. BTW HBT, you mentioned a problem with your order? It might be helpful to all if we were to share delays or other problems.

yes Snow_Runner I 've been looking at all the Pictures I have saved on my computer, the internet and as many reviews as I can find. All that have the chrome trim around the radio and ATC. The only trim around the radio is R/T I do believe.

Also e-mailed the salesperson today (dealership is closed on Sunday) to go over this issue. I will let you know here what I find out. I am back to work tomorrow so wont be able to post til later Monday night. On the way home, I pass by the deaership so I will go in also to see what is happening.

I want the ATC for sure but DO NOT want leather,....see what happens I may move to the R/T for the same money though as ChryslerLLC says the SXT has optional premium convenience group has Auto temp control. This is the reason for the huge problem with the order

    hope the link works

    Rob

  13. Well this is a first for us too. We have never ordered a car. We've bought a year old car that's as close to new as we've

gotten. I played it cool at the dealership, but I've been a nut case at home. I pray the Journey doesn't let me down. I've

read whatever is around on it, which isn't much really. It looks like a dream, I just love the look of it. Please let us know

when your dream ship comes in!!!!!!! :)

    dito Roxanne

No worries at all Roxanne. I have to laugh at the comment about playing it cool at the dealership. I was beside myself and trying to hold back on my excitement. I didn't want the salesperson to know I LOVE THIS CAR LET ME HAVE IT NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!

With this being our very first brand new car and my wife having shoulder sergury on the 13th, I've been off since then and I go back to work tomorrow to try and get back some sanity. I wish the car was there and we could have brought it home that day. So now we have the experience of doing a factory order. Each day feels like a week while waiting for the car :hysterical:

This will be me in May sometime,.....-------> :happy feet:

and then it will be this with the wife when we get it to see who drives it,....-----> :slapfight:

all is good though, still insane in Alberta

    Rob

  14. Thank you so much for the welcome. I sure wish I was driving ours!!!! It's killing me to wait.

I don't wait very well. I'm sure my husband is gonna go insane with me talking

about that beautiful car all the time!! :P I just can't help it. I have never liked a car/SUV that big.

It seems all those cars looked alike for a long time, then Dodge comes out with the Journey...WOW!

I know my husband will miss his Magnum (with a hemi) but the gas is killing us!! That's a huge engine

to keep happy. His Magnum loves gas!!!! I don't feel like we gave up anything by getting

the Journey. It's big yet not to big, we did take a step down from a huge V8 to a V6, not bad I'd say.

that is funny, cause the wife is saying the same thing here but she is going insane from me!!!!. It kills me to be waiting and all I do is surf the net looking for added info.

yup, I too am going insane cause no one wants to talk "Journey" with me. This is our first BRAND NEW car and holy hell I can't wait. The poor salesperson has no idea who he is dealing with hehehe

    signed Insane in Alberta lol!!!!

  15. [quote nam

The premium convenience group code aam has this,...

air conditioning atc w/dual zone control

    federal a/c excise tax

    heated front seats

    remote start system

rr view auto dim mirror w/ microphone

    uconnect hands-free communication

actually, what comes with the premium convenience group is NOT the ATC...it's still manual. it's included on the R/T. although the website indicates it's included with the premium convenience group, it is not. we've got the SXT with the convenience group I, premium convenience group and flexible seating and, although we have 3-zone a/c, it's manual (which i actually prefer).

hm very interesting, I sent an e-mail to my salesperson about 5 minutes ago, will let you know what he says.....

I want the ATC but DO NOT want leather. Mentioned that there is a huge problem with the order...................

  16. still trying for you............

hmmm seems like the REQ radio (6 disc non sat radio) has no random play, that seems to be very very strange. The RAQ radios had random but it looks like the REQ does not,.... still digging for you I want to be sure for you

holy fish sticks this isn't looking good,...

    check this link out....

  17. now to clarify, the removeable key JUST opens the doors (would be great if it locked the glove box, center console, rear storage cubby, etc...that way, when you leave it with a valet or shop, everything else is secure).

however, without the electronic key, the vehicle will not start.

ah excellent point drphil, thank you for the insight

    Rob

  18. My wife and I picked up a new 2009 SXT AWD Dodge Journey this morning. Its got the 3rd row seat, and Sunroof. We love it!

Lifetime warranty on the powertrain, and we also purchased a lifetime extended warranty. Essentially it extends the bumper to bumper warranty for indefinitely as long as we own the vehicle (with $100 deductible).

I actually bought the car for my work. We don't have kids YET, but plan on some rather soon. My work requires me to have a relatively new car, and with their generous car allowance I can operate the Journey just fine on my allowance. After I'm done using this for my work, it will be the family car. All in all, we're both very happy. More to follow.

    John

well tell us more,........ what color, where are you from, options etc.

Congrates on the Journey to you and your wife. Welcome to the forum and post often

    happy motoring :shift:

    Rob

  19. The armrest just simply slides back and forth. When fully extended to the front you you loose a little storage area which is good for a cell phone. You can still store the phone but you have to slide it back to get the phone. I have the U-connect phone so it is no issue for me.

yes :happy feet: , mine will have the uconnect as well, thank you for the reply myboy

    Rob

  20. My dealer said that the ATC only came with the R/T, but when I looked on the Dodge site, it did mention it as an option.

He has an AWD SXT on the lot, and he thought it would come in with the ATC, but it didn't.

I mentioned that it only came with the flexible seating group and the premium convenience group.

the flexible seating group code AGV includes,...

    160 amp alt

    2nd row 40/60tilt n slide

    3rd row 50/50 fold/recline

air conditioning w/3 zone temp control

    easy entry seat system seat

    federal a/c excise tax

    gvw/payload rating

    rear air condioning with heater

The premium convenience group code aam has this,...

air conditioning atc w/dual zone control

    federal a/c excise tax

    heated front seats

    remote start system

rr view auto dim mirror w/ microphone

    uconnect hands-free communication

so if you have the 5+2 option you get the atc 3 zone or if you order the premium convenience group you get the dual zone atc

yes the R/T comes with it from factory

    hope this helps

on a side note, I am trying to get my printer to scan but it is off line for now. Once up, I will post them in the gallery or someplace so everyone can see them
