  1. Well our 2009 Journey 4cyl has 3100 miles on it and wouldn't start anymore. Just wouldn't crank over but everything would come on just fine. When we took it to the dealership they said it was the aftermarket alarm which we don't have. Then they told us it would start when they took it off but it was throwing another code so they ordered the part. Well I guess that didn't fix the problem and they ordered another part which won't be here till Nov.7 Now my wife talked to them and she doesn't remember what the second thing ordered was. But I will update the thread after I get the car back. My wife is pregnent and was due last sunday so she is irritated but they did give us a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4 Door to drive around. It's pretty nice and I have been averaging 20mpg with it so far with the 4.7 V8.
  2. Thats because the Intrepid is more areodynamic and weighs prob 1000lbs less
  3. Got my best tank so far 24mpg and there was a decent amount of stop and go in this tank and some nasty head wind. Check out my gas logs..... http://www.gassavers.org/garage/viewgaslog/2084 The mileage keeps getting better and better. Still under 2000 miles on the engine. I think as it's breaking in its just gets better. Im hoping to average 25-27 all the time by the time it hits 5000 miles. The first few tanks were pretty dissappointing though for a 4cyl
  4. First look at where the engine sucks air in from (intake). It a really really really small opening. Secondly there are 2 mufflers on the 4cyl one in the middle (acting as a resonator i guess) and one at the end. And last there are COPPER spark plugs in the 4cyl. And the recommended interval for changing them is 30k miles. As far as I know copper plugs are used to reduce heat and knock on an engine. Meaning they burn the fuel less efficiantly. If I didn't have the 7 year bumper to bumper and lifetime powertrain warrenty I would modify the intake and take out the middle muffler and put a resonator there. And then put some good old NGK platinium spark plugs in there. On a side note I drove 75 miles with 5 people and luggage and the 4cyl performed adiquite @ 75mph. But that lil 4cyl is pretty noisy but I will live with it.
  5. Yea it's been awhile since we owned an auto. The service manager told me to push hard on the brake pedal or put the parking brake on and see if it still happens. On a side note they noticed when you put the vehicle into drive it the tranny sounds like it's builing up pressure for like 5 seconds. I didn't even notice it they did. It's not a very loud noise but you can hear it. The service manager went in the vehicle and showed it to me. He said the vehicle operation was all normal and when they get another 4cyl Journey in they will see if it makes the same noise.
  6. Im taking it in on Thursday Morning. I guess I will find out then. All I know if it is a loose mount then thats extra stress on the drive train every time it thunks. And for a brand new car I won't live with it. I mean sure after 70k or more I can see something like this coming up but not under 1000 miles.
  7. When we park the Journey on a incline it makes a thunk when you put it into park. When your on a flat surface it does not do it. I think there is a loose motor mount or transmission mount. Atleast thats what it feels like. Anyone else have this issue with the 4cyl model???
  8. Any 4 cylinder Journey take a mostly highway trip? The first tank of mixed driving yielded an unimpressive 20.78 mpg Allthough the engine is not broken in it's still pretty bad. Me and my wife drive pretty slow also.
  9. It was just a EVAP leak nothing major. SO who know but we love the car so far.
  10. Bought a Journey and on day 2 the car has 200 miles and the check engine light came on. And we live 65 miles from the dealer where purchased Besides that we love the CUV. The 4cyl is a little slugish but it gets the job done. The reason we bought the Journey is because we have a baby on the way. And the only other 2 cars we had were a 93 Civic EX 2dr and a 04 Saturn Ion Redline and the oil cooler went bad and screwed up my cooling system so now I don't trust the car. Anyways does the 4cyl Journey have a 18.5 gallon tank or the 20.5. In the owners manual it says 18.5 and in the brochure it says 20.5. I will keep you all updated with what the check engine light is. Have a good day.
