  1. Thanks for comment. I finally was able to delve into this issue and did find it's an old school incandescent bulb typical of bulbs to light up the instrument gauges.

For those that may experience the same issue down the road the bulb is made by Osram and it's 12V at 2.0W.

Don't biyher going to your dealership. Dealt with 4 parts deparent in my area and they will sell you the wrong bulb or don't know about it at all.

Showed the bulb to the local automotive store and they know about it. Got the exact Osram bulb and a few more to store. Now my lighting is fixed.

  2. Hi guys,

Yesterday I noticed the right side of the LED back lighting behind the HVAC (Air Condition) control are gone. So I give it a slight tap and it comes back on. As the vehicle moves along the bumps, it shuts back off. Any tap or bump on the unit or sides makes the back lighting turn on and off. The left side is completely intact.

So I obviously think lose connection. I Google how to remove the fascia which is just an easy pull, the whole HVAC controls are attached to this fascia. The wires seem okay. I check the wires as well as what seems like the LED bulb holder (there are two, one on each side) which I don't even know how it works or is seated. I just touch it and try to twist and turn it thinking it's like a bulb screw but nothing gives. Nothing loose. I tap on the fascia itself and it comes back on again and stays on despite repeat hard taps on it. I put it all back again, give it a few taps and bumps on the side and everything good. So really I don't know what I did or how it fixed itself.

    My question:

    1. Anyone experience similar issues of the back lighting turning off on one or both sides of the HVAC controls? What was the problem and fix?

    2. Anyone know how to remove and replace these LED bulbs in case it does eventually burn out?

    Thanks for input.

  3. Yeah, same. I couldn't find actual illustration on the part number. Will ask him the next time I'm in for service. Was wondering if any technical guys who did it themselves know exactly what this assembly or part is. I was wondering if it's an assembly then they needed one? But my paperwork says two (2) for front and rear cylinder heads so it threw me off if they only selected a few parts.

Anyway if anyone has done this themselves. Otherwise will just update when I speak to him again.

  4. Hi,

Wondering if anyone else with a 2010 Dodge Journey 3.5L engine model is having similar engine lashing / ticking sounds?

I saw a TSB in another forum for similar 3.5L engine used in previous Dodge vehicles and up to 2009 Dodge Journey and this was supposed to have been addressed by then.

However it is still occurring in my engine so it appears either my engine hasn't been addressed with the updated parts or the updated parts do not last as well and causing the same ticking /.lashing noise of the lifters.

Took it to the dealer a second time after it was making the same loud noise and the technician simply said to the service advisor it's the engine TSB.

So he ordered the parts and my car is in to be fixed. Don't know how many days it will be and they have no loaner. Yikes.

Anyone else with similar issue and had a fix with the dealer? I only have a 5-year powertrain warranty being in Canada so time is running out.

  5. oneframe,

The brake inspection interval is every 20,000 kms as per the warranty booklet.

A good dealer will recognize the importance of cleaning and lubricating these components, but all too ofter it gets overlooked.

If you're handy, I recommend checking the linings at least every other oil change. In my experience, it's worth it to help extend the life of the brakes.

This wasn't a 20K inspection, but a paid for $600+ brake job replacement so there is nothing to be missed. It was the job.

After complaining to the service manager, they finally did it right yesterday.

I am handy, but like I said earlier our building complex does not allow nor has space for fixing your own car. That's why we are willing to put our trust and pay your dealers. Authorized Dodge dealers to do the job right the first time.

  6. Hmmm... The fit and finish of my 2014 is superb. In fact, most of the lines (inside and out) are tighter than very high end vehicles...

Well good yo know the improved in your 2014, 4 years later than my 2010 - which obviously have different bumper exterior and interiors already.

It can't beat the tight fit and finish of my previous 2005 Audi, which is 5 years earlier. Of course the price difference is night and day. So in my case I get what I pay for.

  7. Mine is the opposite. Had my rear rotors and brakes replaced recently by the dealer. Now upon braking lightly I hear a clunking noise. But when it's raining/wet, the noise disappears. Of course when I had the dealer check when it rained, they can't hear it.

Any idea what noise this might be? I need to describe it further for them to re-check.

  8. I am experiencing some sort of leak only from a high pressure touch less wash coming from the sunroof as well. Just one or two minute drops. Otherwise, any strong rain, no problems for now.

The fit and finish of the Dodge Journey is not exactly something to be proud of, I'm ashamed at times with the Dodge executives who gave it a go how it was able to pass final inspection.

  9. Hi, yes that's what it's supposed to do if. If I'm heading West, the triangle is pointing to the RIGHT. When I'm heading East, it's pointing to the LEFT. Gets worse when you mix it up, I head NE and the triangle is pointing to the Upper Left, and so on.

Anyway thanks guys for feedback. Will let the dealer know. Hopefully some wiring fix.

  10. Hi Terry, thanks for feedback.

Hmm. I wonder what would cause this on my vehicle. Just clarifying as the compass on the instrument cluster is correct. But then the black triangle with the red mark is facing to the right when the instrument is saying W. When its showing E, the triangle is facing left.

Wonder if I'm the only one and if its a wiring issue.

  11. For anyone that has the 2010 model, did you notice that the compass arrow direction displaying on the monitor is inverted?

I have noticed this from day 1 when I received the vehicle. The compass on the instrument cluster is correct, but on the navigation display the West and the East are inverted. While the North and South is correct.

I received a new head unit recently because of a failed hard drive. I was hoping the new install would correct the issue. The new unit still displays inverted heading.

It's strange no one else noticed or perhaps just one vehicle which would be even more strange.

DodgeCares, can you look into this occurrence please. I will let the dealer know shortly when I bring it back for service.

  12. Can someone with a 2009 - 2010 REU Nav unit please post your "Application", "Database", and Gracenotes Version. I forgot to record mine before the update.

The info is found under Menu - System Information:

    After the update I have:

    Application Version: 8.316

    Database Version: RS20 - N 1216 3.3.0

    Gracenotes: 2057

I don't know how extensive the update was including if they upgraded the Gracenotes file.

    Thanks in advance.
