Ok - here’s the update.main dealer fixed the issue by replacing the sensor. 850 bucks all up ( 4 hours labour at 160 plus an hour diagnosis). Aiieee! I’ve now sold it ;-)
obviously the australian manifactured tridon sensor sensor I had installed was at fault.
