I thought also maybe the fuel pump but I then thought it would still be making the sound even when its just sits there running. I'll have my local guy check it out and let you know what it is. Thanks for all the help.

No it is a whinny sound when driving.

Engine is 3.5L 6-cyl, front wheel drive. 55,000 miles. Father in law was the original owner and had regular maintenance and upkeep.

I have a loud whinny noise coming from the rear on my 2009 Journey. Only makes the noise when I am driving. The faster I go the louder it gets. No noise when it's just sitting there running. At first I thought it was the new tires but they now have over 10,000 miles on them. This noise drives me crazy.
