  1. Hmmm, I used my parking brake for the first time this season (parked on a steep incline). Drove 20 kilometers home and the rear right wheel was blazing hot and stunk of the sweetest smell of burnt brake. I shall be calling my friendly dealer tomorrow (40 kilometers away) to find out what I should do. Obviously it's undrivable in this condition. I may pull the wheel off myself, fix it well enough to get it to the shop. Thanks for the info.
  2. Same thing happened to my SE, it was leaving a puddle everywhere it went, I took it to the dealer and they fixed in an hour. While they were doing the work I stepped outside for a smoke and I was able to see the Journey up on the hoist with the right driveshaft removed. I didn't get a chance to talk to the mechanic but I can assume that it was probably a diff seal. Seems like Dodge may have to find a new seal manufacturer. The original ones apparently stink.
  3. Well, I was too lazy to get the car up on the ramps, so no pics. On the other hand I only had to spend an hour at the dealer to get the problem fixed. When the service manager gave me the key back he told me there was a seal blown out and thats all he could tell me about it. I stepped out for a smoke and look in the open bay door and could see the mechanic with the drive shaft removed so I could only assume that it was a trans seal or a diff seal. Thank god for warranty, it was not a problem anyways. Wasn't that big of a deal.
  4. Our Journey SE is leaving oil puddles. We only found out today when my father in law called and told me that it had left oil on his pristine driveway. Our driveway is dirt and it's been raining lately so I never noticed. When the wife returned home I took a peak underneath and saw oil droplets on the cross member. The engine oil was down a quart as well. Since the dealer is closed tomorrow, I'm going to put it up on the ramps (which annoys me a little, I bought my first new car so I wouldn't have to deal with issues like this) just to take a peek and see if it's a serious problem. Then it's going to the dealer on the asap. I will keep you posted and will try and post pics of the problem.
  5. Our SE has enough power to get it around. However we are somewhat disappointed with the fuel mileage. We can barely get 500 km out of a 60 liter fill up, and thats all country highway driving. It did better when we went on a trip to Toronto and was on the 401/407 doing 120 km/h when we almost got 700 km out of the tank.
  6. Except that you will eventually need to replace the timing belt on the V6. I would imaging that won't be a cheap maintenance requirement. Spark plugs are easy.
  7. Yes, another Canadian. Seems a little biased, huh?
  8. Before you ask, I never wanted Sirius thats why I didn't get the sat package, besides I have four xm units. The weatherstripping around the door looks pretty tight and I'm a little nervous about pulling it out to run the antenna wire underneath it. I also don't want to clutter up the interior with a bunch of wires hanging all over the place. The unit thats going in is a Roady xt. Any suggestions? Edit: Ooops, I suppose I should have posted this in the audio section. Sorry.
  9. 66' Oldsmobile Delta 88 (still own it) http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2318834 85 Buick LeSabre (My couch on wheels, I miss it) 95 Chrysler Concorde (300,000 km's / 187000 miles, and going strong) 85 Chev c20 Our Journey replaces my wifes 98 Ford Contour.
  10. The battery change out doesn't look that hard. There's a panel just in front of the left front wheel. I suppose you have to take the wheel off. If you are willing to change a battery then I would suspect that removing a wheel wouldn't be all that big of a deal.
  11. I'm barely getting 22mpg on the 4 banger. Kind of disappointing.
  12. I'm so happy to find a forum on this car. We picked ours up on May 10. It's a SE Plus with flex seating and appearance package with a Silver Steel Metallic coat. It's a great handling and well priced vehicle. Love it, love it.
