  1. I was just going to say... I can definitely think of a few other places where it should go than where its at! In fact, That hatch under the rear floorboard would be ideal! I might have half a mind to move it there!
  2. About 2 weeks after the Journey came off the lot to our home it wouldn't start and found loose and corroded battery terminals. I would have taken it to the dealer to fix just on principle...but obviously it wasn't going anywhere until it was fixed. Now, Ive been a mechanic all of my life and well within my capabilities. But after realizing what I had to do to get to the terminals I almost had it towed I was so mad! Wife needed the car and was in a hurry. What a PITA it was just to clean and retighten battery terminals!
  3. Well all is good here! Great fit and they look great! Lots of room for the Caliper! Sorry about the nighttime picture. These are Point-S studded snow tires. I believe these are made by Continental and branded for Point-S (formerly Tire Factory). They just came out and have the latest composition technology etc. and the reviews have been excellent. Having owned Nokians, I have become a believer in them but they were out of stock in this size.
  4. d1ulove- The original size is a safe answer. But that's not the only answer. I just went through this for the same reason you are. Your mechanic is correct, and even the Fit Guides online are not accurate what will fit! It isn't just the offset or wheel diameter that is the issue. Some 17" wheels will fit, but not all 17" wheels with the same spec will fit. It's how much clearance behind the spoke is designed into the wheel that will clear the caliper. I assume by what you said you have 19" OEM wheels and you just bought 19" tires to you put them on. Is that correct? If so, it sounds like you will be committed to 19" rims since you already bought the tires. FWIW- I did in fact find 17" wheels that will fit the large caliper Dodge Journeys! I now have American Racing Estrella's with studded tires on them on my 2015 DJ Crossroad. The spoke on those curve out away quickly just inside the rim to clear the caliper with plenty of room to spare. :-)
  5. I've been reading the posts about folks swapping out their wheels with different sizes- Most people going to larger wheel diameter. I am trying to go the opposite way, from the factory Crossroad 19" to a 17 wheel for studded snow tires. Specifically this is for a 2015 DJ Crossroad AWD V6. I thought all factory 17" wheels and larger would work, but they don't. All the fitment guides on the net say they will, and other members here saying they will... but alas; there is interference with the caliper when trying 17" factory steel wheels from a 2013 DJ. Even tried 18" Jeep wheels that had 44mm offset and still nogo! I have bit the bullet and outsourced my problem to my local tire monger. He has in turn contacted his suppliers with this dilemma. One of them replied with a custom wheel that they claim will fit (specially noted in their records) to the Dodge Journey Crossroad with the larger caliper (post 2012). I placed the order and are due in today or tomorrow. My gut is telling me they wont fit! We shall see... The wheel is an American Racing Estrella. I don't have any other custom dimensional information yet. So, my question is- who is running a wheel smaller than 19" on their 2013 or newer DJ Crossroad with the larger caliper? Please post what you've got and pics!
