  1. Thanks for all the input.

I actually didn't buy it from a Dodge dealership. I am wondering if I could call my dealer to find out, or if I would have to call a Chrysler dealership to find out.

And bramfrank, I do have what looks like an amp under the passenger seat, but I don't know if I have a sub. If I didn't have a sub, would I still have the amp under the seat?

    Thanks again guys!

  2. With regards to this post, lately I have been having the same problem. I let the car sit overnight, next morning it is dead. I get a boost, and it is fine for the day. Next morning, same thing.

I go out, buy a new battery, and get it installed. I have the alternator tested too. It is fine.

About a week or two later, the same thing happens. I bring it back to my mechanic, and he hooks it up to an amp meter. While the car is off, it is drawing about .30. They had to pull each fuse one by one, and they found out it is my stereo drawing the power.

Here is the catch. When I bought the vehicle, I bought it second hand. Upon getting it, there was a chip in the windshield. I had to bring it back in to have the windshield replaced. Once we got into the fall season, I climbed in the car on a rainy day, and noticed a leak coming from the top center of the windshield (where the interior lights and rearview mirror are), and it was leaking onto my stereo. I called the dealer, again, and had to bring it back in to have the leak fixed, again. I didn't think anything after that. Over the winter is when I started to have the battery drain on me. Now that I know it is due to the stereo, is there any possibility that the leak on the stereo has anything to do with the stereo draining the battery all of a sudden?

Keep in mind that, the only extended warranty I got on the vehicle when I purchased it back in July was the powertrain warranty.

    Thoughts?

  3. Hey all!

So, ever since I've got my 2013 R/T, I have been trying to teach my youngest son (9 years old) to spot the differences between the years and models of DJs. In doing so, I, myself, am not quite sure of a few things.

First - Chrome door handles. Up until a couple of days ago, I thought you could only get these on the R/T. But then I saw a Journey with the R/T badge without the chrome handles.

Second - The Dodge emblem. I am pretty sure that the emblem was on the front and rear of all DJs up until 2011. I think 2012 is when they put the new front grill on them as well as the word DODGE across the back.

Third - Tail lights. I believe that the 2012 was the last year of the old style, and the 2013 had the new LED tail lights (the round ones) installed on them.

Fourth - Rims. This is where I am lost. I have the snowflake rims on my R/T. I know them as snowflake rims from my Neon days. But I have seen these rims on all different models. Was that just a different option on any model Journey?

Any input on what I have here? Is it right? Is it wrong? And any additions would be great! :)

  4. Sorry, but yes they should. Uconnect only supports iOS only up to 7.1. I gave up on my iPod, and use a SD card. I finally figured out how to make the SD card perform as an IPod or iPhone should. All my songs show as a list. I can separate the list by Artist or Album or song. I can create my own play lists, say with all albums by the same artist. Then I just hit the Shuffle button. The name of the song displays, along with its associated album and the year it came out. If the art file is an Apple file, the generic music note will display. Otherwise, the album art displays. Also, a "play similar' feature is there. This will take me out of the play list and continue playing related songs: rock, soft rock, country, etc. I can search by artist, album or use the alphanumeric key pad to search. I wasted $ buying the iPod (iOS7.1!) when the music would not correctly play with my iPhone. The SD card is OK for now. All I need to do is to figure out how to add new songs. All this is based on having the 8.4. I just put iOS 8.4.1 on my iPhone, iPod, and iPad. So, Uconnect has a way to go to catch up with Apple. I talked at length with both Uconnect and Apple and got nowhere. So, I just figured it out by myself!

Rather than trying to play via Bluetooth, try using the USB port and see what you get.

None of this would be going on if Dodge had kept the 30gig HD, and scrapped the damn SD slot. Gee, have I said this before?

Thanks ddh! This is very useful! I have always wondered it, because when I hook my iPhone up via the USB jack, it does show all the tracks. As well as when I use a USB stick, or CD (I have yet to try the SD slot). My son has an older iPod that we can't upgrade to iOS 8, so maybe I will try that and see if it comes up. If it does, I could always use that strictly for the DJ, and just load a bunch of songs onto it.

Now... you mentioned a HD in the Journey.... my mind has been blown! Is this still possible as an aftermarket add-on to the Journey? Because I would totally do that instead. Or would it be a whole lot easier using my old 30 GB iPod and hooking it up through the USB?

  5. Devin Riches,

At this stage, I would suggest having your dealer verify the issue while you're there with your phone.

In certain cases, the phone may be the issue.

Agreed. But I know the steps that I need to do to get my phone to link up. In settings ----> Phone/Bluetooth ----> Doesn't give me this part in the settings. I tap on phone/Bluetooth and it doesn't do anything. I know it is supposed to tell me to set up my phone to pair and gives me the 0000 code to enter, but it won't even bring me to that screen.

I will definitely be checking to make sure it works before I leave this time.

  6. Did you by any chance catch any of the Pan-Am games going on in the GTA?

I'm from Hamilton, but we went on a road trip with the family up to Kingston and Ottawa. Drove back on Sunday just as the games were ending. Traffic sucked! The only good thing I had out of the bad traffic was the fact that I was in my new Journey! :)

  7. I know this may sound stupid, but did you you first push the Voice Button? She will give you a list of options. Say "Pair a Phone" The code to connect via Bluetooth is 0000. Make sure Bluetooth is on, on your phone, and the little circle thing will be spinning as it searches for connectable devices. It takes a while, but Uconnect will finally appear.

I did try that. The dealership called me. They told me that the last owner I guess had locked out the bluetooth connectivity somehow. They had to reset the whole stereo to get it working again. I am just waiting for them to replace my windshield and I go to pick it up. They tried two separate phones to make sure it worked after resetting it, and they said it seemed fine.

Not that I don't trust them, but I will be sure to try it before it leaves the parking lot.

  8. I'm having trouble downloading one of my UConnect 8.4N updates.

Here are the steps I've taken for my 2014 R/T.

    • Login to https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/
    • Enter my VIN
    • I'm informed of 2 software updates:
      • Update 1: UCONNECT®8.4N_MY13_MY14_MY15_NAV_5_21_NAFTA_RB5_RB6
      • Update 2: UCONNECT®8.4_MY14_MY15_CTP_RADIO_15.03.B2_RB5
    • I've downloaded and successfully applied Update 1, the Garmin Update.

But I can't download Update 2: UCONNECT®8.4_MY14_MY15_CTP_RADIO_15.03.B2_RB5. I keep getting a File not found error.

It happens with both the direct download link and the Akamai NetSession installer.

In case the download is country code specific, my location is Canada.

I'm not all that concerned about the update as I'm not having any problems with UConnect. Wondering if anyone has had any luck or advice.

    Thank you,

I had this exact same problem as well. I brought mine back to the dealer to let them figure it out. I wasn't going to pull what little hair I have left over out! LOL.

Let me know what happens for you. I will let you know what happens for me.

  9. I was actually told by a good friend of mine (huge car enthusiast and a mechanic to boot) to use horse saddle conditioner on it. He said he uses it on his saddle bags and seat for his motorcycle, and they look brand new. Question is, if I don't own a damn horse, where do I buy the stuff? LOL.

  10. My 4s on 8.4 was able to connect to a 4.3S radio no problem. All expected functions work correctly via bluetooth (calling, audio controlled via iPhone). If you are having issues getting the radio to update properly, my next stop would be the dealer. It's a 2013, so you should still be under warranty.

I actually dropped it back off at the dealer this morning. I was on vacation this past week, but I had a stone chip in the windshield as well, so they are going to fix both.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I will keep you posted when I get my vehicle back!

  11. I use the Armour All wipes. But I first spray on McGuiers and wipe it off with the wipes. Then, I don't use the car for 24 hours.

Is it really possible to not use a vehicle I just bought for 24 hours???

I wasn't sure about the leather wipes. I was going to pick some up today, but didn't know if it was worth it.

  12. Called UConnect, there was an update for my VIN. Downloaded it, installed it, still can't get it working. It gives me an error, "Error on Reflashing", then error code 0X11FF. Please touch screen. Software missing. Formatted USB stick, put the update on it again, and tried it again.

It started installing the update. Touching Phone/Bluetooth menu doesn't do anything... can't get any further, so I can't pair the phone.

  13. Sorry to just jump in like this, but with having an all-white all-leather interior on my 2013 R/T I just purchased, I was interested in knowing how to care for the leather. This post is a really good read.

I am curious to know what kind of protection i should get for the leather? I really don't want to hve the leather start cracking. One of the things I fell in love with on this vehicle was the interior. I want to make sure it stays looking as good as it does now.

  14. I did get it. Sorry. I was so excited, and have been so busy!

My profile pic has the evening my wife and I picked it up and brought it home. Besides a couple of problems with the uconnect/iphone, we love it. White leather interior, 5 seater, tonnes of space!

My older son is in Military college for summer training, but we pick him up this coming Friday when he graduates. We were upset that he wasn't there to help us pick the vehicle out, mainly because he turns 16 next year, so it will be the first vehicle he ever drives. But I am sure he will be happy with it.

We do still need to get a hitch put on, but we don't need that until August, for when we go camping up north. we will be getting a hitch-mounted bike rack.

I will post pictures later of the vehicle.
