I have a 2014 Dodge Journey SXT with the 6 cylinder engine. It did not come with the tow package from the factory. The Dodge specs show that this vehicle has a 2,500 pound towing capacity. Does that capacity only exist on vehicles that come from the factory with the tow package? Or would I be able to add a tow hitch, 7-pin electrical plug and be able to tow up to 2,500 pounds with the Journey? I'm interested in getting a lite camper (GVWR <2,000) and would rather not have to get a new vehicle at the same time since my Journey has under 10,000 miles on it. Let me know your expertise or if you have experience with towing a camper with a 2014 Journey. Thank you!
Thank you all for the replies and the chuckles. I decided to trade in the Journey on a GMC Canyon with the tow package, so this is a moot point.
