  1. Just a follow up to my original post about the odor coming from the rubbery material below the carpets. After a long talk with the service manager and after he sat in the car for quite some time and understood the smell, they set an appointment to replace that material below the carper right across the front of the vehicle. The ordered the replacement and it took quite a while to arrive, but they replaced it and the smell is gone. The service manager at Windsor Chrysler was really helpful and I am happy that it's all corrected. It was an odd problem to have, but they took care of it. Thanks!
  2. We have been getting an odor in the vehicle for quite some time now, over a year in fact. We asked the dealer to check the heating system to see if there were any leaks, but they found none. We have asked many people and read lots of suggestions online all dealing with leaks causing an interior smell. We decided to pull back the front carpet on the driver’s side as that seems to be where the smell is emanating from. Below the carpet and up the front covering the firewall is a foam-backed rubbery material which I assume is for sound deadening. We found that seems to be the source of the odor. Has anyone else experienced such a thing? This rubbery material goes right across the front of the vehicle and smells even on the passenger side when we pulled back the carpet there. I will be going to the dealer to see what they can do to correct this problem. There was no evidence of any leaks that we could see so we have no idea why this would start smelling. Any suggestions or information from others that have experienced similar problems would be helpful.
