Hi

I'm from Kent in England. Currently own 2 PT Cruisers and looking for something a little bigger as my family is growing plus I want something that can tow a heavier payload.

The Journey is not available here yet, but should be in showrooms August for September delivery.

Luckilly as I'm a good customer at my local Chrysler/Dodge dealer last week I got to see a pre-launch model used to familiarise the sales staff.

I was very impressed. Wasn't able to get a drive in it though. I think it must have one of the best designed interiors to come out of the US in a long time. The fit and finish is a much higher quality than that on the Caliber.

We don't get the same options here. Only 7-seater models available in SE, SXT and RT trim levels. The only petrol engine is the 2.4, but we get a 2.0 CRD model. Just as well as petrol(gas) is £1.16 per litre, that is around 9-10 USD per gallon!!! Diesel is £1.28 per litre, but you get better mileage. The CRD engine is a VW unit, so well proven and loads of torque.

I'm looking at a CRD SXT with MyGig option. Not sure on colour - either Inferno Red or the dark silver (can't remember its name).

Hopefully I'll be a regular here if it all comes together (and I get a good deal!!).

Welcome to the forum. Interesting that all the UK models are 7-seaters - in the US, you can't even get the 7-seater in the SE trim. I wish the CRD was available in the US; I'd have bought that one in a heartbeat! Even though diesel is somewhere around $.75 more/gallon than gasoline right now, I feel that's a temporary situation, and the diesel's still cheaper to run even at current prices.

Hi. We don't get an AWD version here. Yep Diesel is more expensive here too, but if I take my PT as an example I get 300 miles to a tank in the 2.0 Petrol compared to 430 miles in the 2.2 CRD. The Journey CRD can be ordered with with a 6-speed auto instead of 6-speed manual. The dealers here sell Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge alongside each other, but hardly even bother stocking anything other than CRD powered vehicles.

Hi ChrisUK,

Where in Kent are you from? I am from Margate, but I moved to Mississauga, Canada 10 years ago.

I am 99% sure I will be purchasing a Journey. I am just annoyed that the manual gearbox and diesel engines are not available here. There is a big bias still in North America against diesels.

I am torn between the green and blue.
