  1. We can not have anything covering the plate or the writing on the plate in Texas too. I am not sure if a dealer would-could add that to my display as I have the basic DJ. Where is the camera on a DJ?
  2. Any one add a aftermarket backup camera? One of those things we missed getting the DJ. Looks like a lot of different setups available. Some wireless some wired. I do not know where I would mount the screen. http://www.tadibrothers.com/Products/CategoryProducts/BackupCameraKits Some have a small screen that mounts to the mirror, some replace the mirror...
  3. Sort of... I loved my 69 340 Dart Swinger that I bought in 1970. Did modes and stuff. The first gas crunch killed my driving it. I God forgive me I traded it on a Vega and got nothing for it. Bought a New Jeep Liberty, almost the worst car I have ever owned. Wife loved it, I hated it. Owned a few things after that. Bought my 01 Jeep Cherokee, which I like 2 wd much later which we still have. A Saturn Vue with the rubber transmission which sucked big time. I liked it but it I still have it, but with a bad transmission. Then a Chevy Equinox, we had gotten the SUV bug by then. It was ok for a while, some problems, but we had a few problems that were fixed but came back. Then a big one that the shop I used could not fix. He had access to everything but dealer tech support. Time to go. My son bought a one year old DJ. They liked it, we liked it. So we got a new one form the same place he bought his... Phone sales by my wife, she got what she wanted, but we did not check out the options, our Bad, Got a right price with extend warranty that covers everything for 100k. My son had a Grand Caravan that gave him quite a bit of problems, so he traded it for the DJ. He had a 98 Dodge diesel that he traded on the Van. It was a good truck but he could not get all the kids and wife in it. Double cab. Sorry for the long history,,, My son also has a Jeep Jeep. too. He is outside phone sales for a Big Dodge Dealer in Houston... HE went through a lot of bad times with bad dealers, dealers that sold out and all kinds of stuff for several years. He is back with Dodge and is happy. So I am happy with Chrysler products. Would I recommend them to other people?? Yes and said so on Facebook (no bad comments on that please )

    New Wheels?

I guess I should have posted it in the wheel section.. Thanks all I will check the links and sites posted.
  6. I really like the LED lighting. The under door lights and the rest. I would like to retro fit them on a couple of things. I don't think I could do the cup holder.
  7. Thats me too, I am retired with fixed income, my wife works, but it is fixed income too. If it is too high the wife will say h3ll no. I think she might go the $103 just to keep me happy. I wonder how many people they loose with the price they want to charge?
  8. Used them on our previous Equinox and just moved them to the DJ no problems. They do use a strap that goes around the bottom of the HR.
  9. My DJ AVP has the loop and no latch that I saw this weekend, but it is gone today so I can not look
  10. I have had 2 GM Crossovers that had a auto position on the headlight switch. I did not order either one so I can not tell you the deal with Our '07 Equinox had a position for DLRL, headlights and auto. The saturn had the same thing but up above the key switch and I had some wiring fry on it and the mechnic replaced the switch and taped the wire that had the problem. He said it was a common problem, but no TSB or recall. He replaced the switch at no cost. He showed me how quick it was to replace. Does the Journey have a "auto" setting. My owners books showes something about the switch being different. The DJ is not here as it is my wife's turn to drive today, so I can not look. It is a 2014. We have turned on our lights on low for most daylight use most times before we had auto ones. I do on my Cherokee and my big truck but they warn you after you turn the key off, if you leave lights on. The Jeep will leave the lights on for a period of time for you to get into the house. I am not mad at Dodge for it being this way, my fault. Did you have to turn them on the radio panel every time to turn them off and on or was it a one time thing?
  11. Sorry about not knowing if you knew about "tilt stearing columns" or not. IT is my pet "peeve" on all cars that have that way. Nothing bad with the coulmn that moves up and down. If it had tilt, all I would have to do is flip it up to get out how I am used to, but my wife already in the full up position, plus the seat jacked up. My bad I guess.
  12. My wife does not like the hub caps and steel that came with our Journey, the do mostly suck. What should I look for? We are not ready to dump our basicly new 17" tires that came with it. Can I look for used wheels with out worrying about them? Buy new wheens? I do not want to take out another loan just to buy wheels for it. We would not want "low profile" anything in the future.Bad luck with pot holes and rough roads on tires. What is the deal with the valve stems, and not beening able to reuse them? I never had to change them on any other wheels, but they came with factory "mags"
  13. Caldwell, Republic of Texas, well Texas the Lone Star State for most people... We do have great college football. Whoop!
  14. All older cars the stearing column would actully tilt. Have you owned any older cars that had a tilt column? We have had them on almost every thing we have owned, except my 63 chevy truck. http://www.ididitinc.com/universal-steering-columns http://gmtiltsteeringcolumn.com/ We would diffently get the 6 cylinder next time. Our salesperson said we could trade it in a year. I don't know about that as I do not want to be upside down in a car. My son and his wife do most of their driving in Houston proper. Last time I listen to him on a car, but he has a lead foot too. Some of the problem is my wife has the drivers seat raised up. I need to learn to "turn out" the get up and out of the seat. I like the satellite radio, but I never thought I might pay for radio, but I have had DiretcTV for many moons. My wife listens to local radio, unless we are on the road, then I get to choose. What does satellite radio cost when my free year runs out? The most of the mistakes are our fault. We won't make them the next time, and it looks like a Journey will be at the top of the list So far we like it more than our newer GM product. Do not ask about our Jeep Liberty!!!!. I loved my '69 340 Dodge Dart Swinger. I have owned more older GM stuff and some Late VW model stuff. And a lot of older VW stuff that was not the family daily driver.
  15. Just hit 3k miles on our Journey. Not any big problems. Most of them have been learning the new car. I guess I should call it a crossover suv. We are real happy with how quiet it is compared to our past SUV's!!!!!!! Both were GM ones ant they were quite loud. The Saturn 2003 was the loudest, the Equniox was better 2007. Both were ok. I really liked my plastic Vue. I wish we would have looked at some of the options better. My wife got her big things, duall climate controls and 3rd row seats. The DLRL are something we assumed were standard on all the cars now ( wrong). A few other small things that we assumed would be on it, our bad. The 4cyl engines sucks. Our son has one with the same engine and tranny setup . " the 4 banger will be enough, NOT. We had a 6 cyl engine in the Equinox. The engine has to down shift in more times than we would have thought. Next time it will be a 6 cylinder. The plus it seem to get better fuel mileage. But that was not a big deal. In all the other big 3 auto makers on Sunday night looking, no sales people, we found that almost all had 4 cyl on the lot. I am a little disappointed that it has only a 4 spd transmission. More gears would have made up for the smaller engine. I will be adding something's that are not on it. I would have to give our Journey a A. Not quite a A+ but overall a very good car. One last pet peeve why is tilt steering column a "tilt" not just something that moves up and down. The are all like that BUT.... More later

    Howdy

My wife bought a Journey a week a go. She likes it. It replaced a Chevy Equnaox, which replaced a Saturn Vue. We bought it through a friend of our sons boss. Our sons in parts sales for a large dealer, but the car did not come from them. We have noticed small things missing from it that we thought would-should be their . DLRL auto on on the head lights. Both the Vue and Equinox had these things. Minor but important.. She wanted the 3rd row seats for when we have all the grand kids and dual ac controls . The grand kids are only up a few times a year. So we will just have to see. I will have to add LED tailights and a backup camera, but were looking good. Think we got a good deal. It is 40 mile round trip to work, but she car pools. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee a 3/4 ton 95 Chevy truck with over 315k miles on all the engine and transmission 1/2 the time pulling a 20k load on it. A couple of hot cars. But that all for now... See y'all later Rick aka PapaG
