  1. Had a 1 1/2" cut in the drivers seat panel and needed to replace the panel on the seat. The upholstery guy couldn't find a match in anything Dodge had. When the car is made in Mexico, what do you expect. Anyway, he found a match on a Ford 2005 I believe. Good job Mike. I was planning to turn the car in at the end of the lease, but kept it as I couldn't make my mind up on what to buy.

  2. I recently had to replace my 2nd and 3rd TPMS valve stem assembly. Unfortunately the car is no longer under warranty so I had standard valve stems installed seen as I have to buy new tires in the next few months. The first two, the outside screw on aluminum housing split length wise. The other one, the portion where the valve cap screws on, had broken off just below the cap. The yellow warning lite is on, but who cares.

The tire dealer could not unscrew the outside piece. Mainly due to it being corroded onto the long stem that goes to the sensor inside the tire. If I'd have know about the problem I'd be facing, I would have applied anti-seize to the whole assembly along time ago.

I'm looking for a replacement that won't corrode so badly and is a lot cheaper than what Dodge parts wants me to pay($72 ea). Found one online for $45 ea., but now sure if it's compatible with the Dodge TPMS. If the federal government wants to mandate we have this system they should make sure it doesn't rot off in 2 years or 37K miles. One less option I want on the next car.

I found the valves at TMPS Wholsalers. $34 ea. They are Schrader and have plastic nuts so they won't corrode and split. recognized by the car after being installed by my tire man.

  3. I've had 4 of the TPMS valves break on my 09 RT. Dodge replaced 2 but the other 2 were out of warranty and I had standard valves put in till I found replacements at "TMPS Wholesalers" in Michigan. $34.83 each and the car recognized them right after they were installed by my tire guys. Also had to put 4 new Kumho tires on at the same time. I ordered them from Tirerack at $203+ frt each. I got 40k miles out of the original Kumho tires by rotating at each oil change. Not bad.

  4. I recently had a flat tire on my 2010 R/T. put on the spare, turned off the antislip feature, tried to drive, had trouble keeping it on the highway at 30 Km per hour, awd light came on, engine light came on, could smell oil burning(oil was leaking ont exhaust), called road side assistance and they suggested a tow, we did that, and now chrysler is investigating. just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. otherwise, i have driven through slush, snow and ice (all at the same time) and love how it handled.

I experienced the same handling problem until the AWD light came on. Only drove for about 20 miles. Dodge needs to let owners know about this problem.

  5. I only have the tire pressure light on. Then again my is a 2WD R/T not a AWD. The only problem is i can't find any replacement for my flat. There is no 225/55 R19.

Just my luck and my car is only 3 month old. Now it is just sitting there in the parking lot.

Try Tirerack on line. Just bought the 4 tires for $203 each. I had almost 40k miles before one tire came apart on me. Should have bought snow tires and rims when I first got the car. Suprize how many miles I got out of the Kumho tires.

  7. I've had this intermittent chirping noise for several months. No TSB's on the noise. Been to 2 dealership and still no fix. The first dealer, Johnson Brothers, thought it was the belt idler pulley , then the belt tensioner and finally the alternator. Noise still there with all the new parts. I like parts changers as it keep everything looking new under the hood.

Moved on to the Transitowne dealership and they had 3 tries at the noise and still no fix. The last time they just parked the car, went out and started it several times without driving it. Zero miles on it when I picked it up. They couldn't duplicate the noise. The next day the noise was back. Called and talked to the same service writer with no results so I told him "Nice knowing you"

One more dealer to try in the area. Then if it's not fixed, I'll just drive it till the noise is so load a monkey could find it. Sound pissed, you bet. So if anyone has this type of noise, I'd appreciated your input. Even better if you have a fix for it.

  8. Last winter my TPMS warning showed low. Aired up the low tire, would go down again over about 24-36 hours. Soapy water revealed a length wise split in the valve stem part of the TPMS. Harsh winters here, looks like water got inside the stem and froze, thus the split.

Seems like a bad design to me as the stem looks/feels like it's painted plastic. The first time, I figured it was a fluke. The dealer replaced it and all was fine the rest of the winter.

Well, we went to put on my winter tires Saturday and one of the tires is flat. We marked them when we took them off in the spring and I'm pretty sure this is the same wheel. Soapy water again reveals the exact same issue. TPMS stem has split. No way now to tell if it was cracked and leaking slow enough that we didn't notice it when we took them off, or if they froze up sitting in the barn in late spring. Regardless, it shouldn't happen.

    Anyone else had this problem?

I just had the same problem of the TMS light coming on and found one stem split. Calling the dealer tomorrow to get it replaced. Maybe I can get them to do all four?

  9. I just got done installing the Valley hitch on my RT. The correct hardware per Valley was sent with the package but it was missing something. In order to install the 2 forward horizontal bolts you need to wrap mechanics wire, real tight, around the nuts they send and fish them into place from the rear of the frame tube order to install them. The Valley customer service tech said to use your finger to hold it in place but mine aren't 8" long. brside the mufflers are in the way. So the mechanics wire did the trick. One took half an hour to line up. Then there is the 2 long, rear horizontal bolt, that you can't torque because they crush the frame. Also a pain to line up and thread the bolt into the tab nut. Had to call on the wife to work the bolt while I tried to line up the nut. Couldn't believe how long it took to install 6 bolts and nuts.

When I cool down tomorrow, Valley gets a piece of my mind. They also send the hitch in a large cardboard box that UPS commenced to punch 5 holes in and Valley said UPS was to rough with package handling. How about they stick some foam blocks in the box to hold the hitch in place for the UPS rough ride.

No recommendation for Valley Hitch. But the Husky custom mats I got for the front fit like a glove. Sweet.

  10. Got in the car this morning, started it up and put it immediately into drive and gave it the gas. It felt like the tranny was slipping as it crept forward. Took my foot of the gas then reapplied it and it acted normal and accelerated. Any one experienced this? Had a check engine light on the dash the day before but it went out after checking if the gas cap was tight and taking a 15 mile drive. Calling the dealer to see if they have any info on this.

  11. I agree with wild Bill the Purolator does not fit

I went to the Dodge dealership and got the air filter($26.90) and cabin filter($20.17). A bit pricey as the after markets are about 50% less. Air filter fit just fine. Anyone notice how much dirt was in the bottom of the air box? Bad intake location behind the grill, maybe?

I'm going to write to Purolaor and find out why the air filter does not fit and why they don't make a cabin filter. Let you know what I hear. Set for another 12,000 miles.

  12. Be aware that the Purolator PA35396 gasket is thicker than the OEM and when the tech from Advance Auto Parts installed the second filter because the first would not fit, he tore the gasket pushing the air box cover in place and and had to force the retainer clips in place. Got a refund and will purchase air filter from Dodge. I also cannot find the cabin filter so I guess that will come from Dodge also.

  13. When I pulled out the cabin air filter it appeared to be installed upside down as the arrows on the filter pointed up which is opposite of the cover plate for air flow. All the dirt, bugs and junk were on the top of the filter. Anyone experienced this?

  14. Tell me about it. Not sue if I should believe him. The part is supposedly on back-order so we have been in a rental for a week now

No key problem yet but how about 4 frozen windows. This has happened twice to me and one time the express up refused to work until I shut the car off and it started working again when I got back in. Anyone got a suggestion about the windows before I go to the dealer??

  15. Left wheel has to come off then there is a cover on the fender wall that removes for access if I looked at it right-a nightmare no doubt

    Hi,

If you look in the manual it says to crank the wheel hard right to access the battery panel for maintenance. Hope I never have to. But you can jump the battery on the posts provided on the right firewall without going directly to the battery.

  16. South Wales, Southeast of Buffalo in Western New York. Some people say I live on a mountain but I call it a hill and that's why I got a RT, AWD. Love the car and love this forum. We'll see if it handles the 365 foot uphill driveway when there is 2 feet of snow in it.

  17. I have had the same problem since about 2000 miles. The dealership replaced my entire powersteering system and it did not help one bit. I have taken it in the two different dealerships and no one knows what to do. I hate my STX

You may want to look in the TSB section about a rubbing noise while turning left caused by the power steering pump cavitation due to insufficient fluid in the reservoir. If you add fluid, 4mm or 3/16" above the full mark, make sure it's the +4 synthetic ATF. I checked with my dealer on the correct fluid and was told that the ATF+4 was OK to use as I couldn't find power steering+4. The owners manual also said you can use either fluid. Good luck and enjoy the Journey. Love mine.

  18. I'm finding it a bit too quiet too. But you are right. Since I got my Journey I have been a little less vocal and doing more reading. I have around 2400 miles (4000 km) and my MPG has got up to 20.9, US gallons, average of city and highway. My message came on today to get my first oil change. I bet your R/T is pretty impressive and your gas mileage will increase over time.

I'm on my first trip and the ride is impressive. I found the cruise control smooth as can be. Manually I couldn't hold it as steady as the cruise could. Nice to see the mpg gradually climbing.

  19. Seems to be less chatter on this forum since people got their Journey and are spending more time behind the wheel enjoying the ride. Can't say as I can blame them. I've got 650 miles on my RT and getting 18mpg so far. Still getting use to all the options.

  20. What is a good way to handle garbage in the Journey? I was always able to use a small garbage waste basket in my former vehicle, a Dodge Caravan, because there was space between the two front seats. What are people doing to handle paper cups, used kleenex, etc. etc.

    Jaymista,

Try putting one loop of a plastic grocery bag over the center council arm rest. Used it on my last 3 cars and it worked OK. When it's full just tear it off and tie a knot in it and throw it out, then install a new bag.
