  1. Wow! Steep, yes! I have the same vehicle with the booster seats, in floor storage, etc., and didn't pay near that much...that or the Canadian exchange rate is really bad.
  2. Actually the Mopar CAI for the 3.6L is a quality piece of equipment to be added to any of our Pentastars but the problem is they don't make them yet for the Journey. I installed one on my 2012 Charger with 3.6L and it added the 10HP plus gobs of sound. (Felt like a kid again putting the baseball card on the bicycle wheel to get sound from the spokes!) It truly does make a difference but the problem is the unit you could purchase for the Challenger or Charger will not fit our units as the Chargers/Challenger are RWD whereas the Journey are FWD. The unit won't fit because the engine is turned 90 degrees. The CAI hooks up to the left side of the engine on the Charger/Challenger which means it would run into the firewall on our Journeys. Hopefully they will produce one for the Journey as I'll be one ASAP...until then I'll wait as the other crap they sell for CAIs is just that - junk! And no, the PCM takes care of any automatic changes to the system due to CAI. No computer upgrades or changes are required. One can reset the system - there's a writeup on it on the chargerforumz.com forum but no need to change computer settings as it's automatic. Also, the MPGs didn't change a bit other then when I would put my foot in it to hear that thing growl...and it certainly adds a deep, throat growl when accelerating. http://www.chargerforumz.com/showthread.php?t=137072 Click on the link above for my write up and pics.
  3. I just rolled 2092 miles today...and not a problem one. The 2012 Charger Blacktop was almost the same out the door as my Journey equipped with the same features but of course the Journey can haul alot more, has a DVD player in the back, hauls more people and simply has alot more versatility. And the price of my DJ R/T out the door was $27,900...msrp was just over $34,000.
  4. I driven my 2013 Dodge Journey R/T with the 3.6L for the last 40 days and will give my thoughts...before I do, I need to explain my previous car was a 2012 Dodge Charger Blacktop Edition with the 3.6L & 8 speed automatic - great car but not alot of hauling room. I traded it as I needed more room for the dogs and hauling - I'm in my early 50's thus no kids but do need room to haul. Same engine but what a difference in transmissions - The DJ six speed tranny certainly shifts rather clunky when compared to the butter smooth shifting of the 8 speed in the Charger. With that said, I owned a Duramax diesel years ago with the Allison transmission...anyone who knows about trannies knows that Allison is bullet proof but shifts cluncky like the DJ. It takes some getting used to and will see how long it lasts. RIde is fantastic - Smooth over the bumps and handles quite well for a crossover. Seats - They take some adjusting and my 5' wife isn't liking the DJ too well as she can't adjust the seat into the straosphere to be able to see over the hood. Not great seats when comparing to a Charger or even a Silverado LT pickup but what do you expect for a $33K seven passenger x-over with sunroof, DVD player, leather, 8.4" display with nav, etc. Great gas mileage - While not as good as the Charger which routinely got 32 on the highway (remember, 3.6L with 8 speed tranny) but am getting a respectable 28 on the highway, 16 around town. Brakes - They don't appear to be a problem at the moment but I did have a lot of brake dust building on the rims during the first 600 miles but that has stopped. Granted, because it's a 2013, it has the larger rotors/pads so will see how they hold up. Fit and finish - Everything seems to fit well and the lines are smooth. The bright red paint job seems to be well done and about the only addition I would like to see FIat Chrysler do is add a rear bumper protecter to protect the bumper from scratches when loading/unloading the vehicle. Things I wish it had - power light gate activated via the remote, blind spot sensors/active cruise control/all - a complete package of optional safety features I had on the Charger which were very useful when changing lanes or vehciles merging onto the highway when you have your cruise set, splash guards which I purchased seperatly and installed myself, power seat for the front passenger, better seats which one could get up higher for those 5' or a little shorter, and finally the 8-speed transmission as it is simply the best on the market due to smoothness and exceptional fuel economy with gobs of power. Overall I'd have to give it an 8.5 out of 10 thus far simply because it's been trouble free, does what I need it to do, has gobs of power for getting up to speed, has a lot of nice amenities which most vehicles don't have (seven pax seating, under floor storage, under passenger seat storage, lay flat seats, remote start for cooling off the vehicle in the Texas sun, 8.4 which with Nav and XM is fantastic - even tells you when there is delayed traffic ahead and will reroute you). Also, changing the oil and filter on the 3.6 is a breeze as the filter is a cartridge/element style and is mounted on the top of the engine so very eady to do. Oil changes, like all of them I performed on my Charger, were very simple, not messy and easy to do.
  5. http://www.rearpaintguards.com/journey/ This one worked...
  6. I have to agree...my 2013 with 3.6L Pentastar is fantastic. Drives well, has gobs of power, and once you get used to the tranny (or it gets used to you) it is a great vehicle. The ride is very smooth, soft seats and when I added the Lifetime Bumper to Bumper warranty it gives me the peace of mind to know I'm covered no matter what.
  7. Purchased a Bright Red with Black Leather Interior R/T four weeks ago and love it. Have been getting alot of compliments on the vehicle.
  8. I too have owned vehicles with clear design issues (2007 Chevrolet Silverado with the intermediate steering shaft clunk, 2004 Chevrolet Malibu with rotors replaced every 25,000 miles because they were too thin, etc.) and both had class action lawsuits threatened but they never went anywhere. You're going to find it's a waste of time and you'll need thousands of Journey owners to make it pay for any attorney worth their salt. Based on the sales numbers below I doubt you'll make the mark. Calendar Year United States 2008 47,097 2009 53,826 2010 48,577 2011 55,155 2012 79,563
  9. I ended up with the basic red which is a good color here in Houston as at least you're seen by the other 4 million drivers. As for the Charger, what is had in speed, looks, an easy 32 mpg on the highway, and smooth shifting it lacked in ride and haulability as far as hauling dogs, furniture, etc. They both are great vehicles and my son ended up buying a 2013 SRT8 Charger at the same dealership and same day as I bought my Journey. Bottom line is IMHO you can't go wrong buying a Chrysler product - and no, I don't work for them nor do I have anyone related or any vested interested other than being a happy owner. Plus, I have a feeling this could be a bad hurricane year and prefer having the Journey to haul those vital personal effects and dogs in the event we have to evacuate.
  10. I traded a 2012 Dodge ChargerBlacktop with the 3.6L and 8 speed auto for the 2013 Journey two weeks ago. I needed more room and found the Journey to be exactly what we needed. Both had the same engine which is simply one of the best 6 cylinder engines I've ever driven. The transmission on the Journey isn't as refined as the electronic 8-speed auto but does handle quite well. You're right about the engine in that it is very smooth. These are very good vehicles for the price and the ride is awesome. I've got the R/T with performance suspension and frankly couldn't tell much of a difference between the Crew that I drove and the R/T. I ended up going with the R/T simply for the added options which I felt to be necessities that I had on the Charger - rear sensors, rear backup camera, leather, navigation, etc. The only thing I miss from the Charger is the crosspath detection and speed sensing radar for the cruise control but those are minor items given the improved ride and space. I have to agree...very nice vehicles! And yes, we found the Copper Pearl to be the color we preferred but none were available...congrats on your find as it's beautiful!!!
  11. Perhaps this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/390589011247?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 or are you looking for zero rise like this? http://www.leeparts.com/dodge_journey/accessories/towing/hitch_receiver.html Don't look at the picture...click on "Installation Instructions" on that page to see what it actually looks like. Hope this helps.
  12. The reason I went for the carpet with memory foam on the back was to ensure water/liquids woudn't soak through. It truly protects the OEM carpet. Total cost was $60 for the carpet and about an hour of my time. If anyone needs the measurements, I'll be glad to provide.
  13. Rail dust is very, very common on all makes and model...seen it on everything from Chevy Silverados to Dodge K-Car (yeah, I'm that old) to Ford Pinto's (even older than you think!). The dealer's body shop will buff them out, apply a new coat of wax and you'll be good as new with no future problems.
  14. I've been looking for a rear mat or pad for the back end when all seats are down but have only been able to locate the ones where the third row is down but not the second. I decided to make my own and went to Lowe's where I purchased a 5x7 rug with memory foam backing and cut it to fit. I didn't want black as he's a light colored dog thus Red to match the interior stitching in the black leather was a good match. At least the dog loves it and it keeps the yellow hair out of my black OEM carpet interior.
