  1. Webslave: answering your last question, my Journey has an 8.4 display WITHOUT GPS.
  2. Webslave: maybe have your dealer contact Chris Brown (service manager) at Keffer Dodge in Charlotte, NC. He figured it out somehow. Also, compass settings option on the 8.4 display don't show up along with the clock like the manual says, it has it's own section....On the second page.
  3. Correct. Updated software. Temp now displays on the EVIC as well as next to the time at the top of the radio.
  4. No. Listed on my window sticker, not on my build sheet.
  5. Fixed!!! It turned out to be a pretty simple fix. The compass module was already installed in the car, however, the Infotainment system wasn't configured to acknowledge/control it. The technician flashed an updated version of the software. The compass now displays and the compass calibration option shows up on the monitor. I hope the rest of you have the same good fortune. Good luck!
  6. We're getting close! The service manager from the dealership just called and said that they successfully fixed the Journey on their lot with a software update. I'm going to try to take my vehicle over there this afternoon to get mine taken care of.
  7. Luckily, in my instance they'll be using a car on their lot to try and identify a solution.
  8. Baby steps...Today the service manager at my dealership re-re-confirmed that 1) my compass was missing 2) that there were no soft keys to set it up 3) my window sticker indicated that my vehicle HAD a compass and 4) my vehicle build sheet did NOT include a compass. He checked another new Journey Crew on their lot that's identical to mine and it didn't have a compass either. He contacted Chrysler's "STAR" tech support group and created a file on my vehicle. They suggested he pull down the the roof liner and locate the place where the module's supposed to be and insert a module. He's ordering a compass module and will use the car on their lot as the guinea pig early next week. He's still not sure what needs to be done to the display to make sure it allows access to the compas set up features....we'll see. I'll let you know what happens next week.
  9. When I was at the dealership the technician said that if the parts department is given access to order the compass module for you, then you can add it, otherwise the system won't allow you to order it. My vin allows me to order it. That being said, I'm headed back to the dealer to drop my car off and see what REALLY happens.
  10. I just found my window sticker and it also has listed " Trip Computer with Temperature and Compass" although the build sheet I got from Dodge doesn't list it. I'll be getting back with the dealer to have them install the compas pro bono.
  11. The saga continues.....The Dodge technician plowed through all the menus and realized (as the rest of us already know) that there was no compass soft-key available. His comment was, "although it seems odd that there wouldn't be a compass on this model, they build them how they build them. Sometimes they don't build with the features they normally include". I asked about the possibility of adding a compass module and was directed to take my vin to the parts counter to see if one was available for my particular car. The deal is, if your vehicle is built to handle the compass, then the parts department will be given access to order it. The compass module is available for my car ($44) but the technician wasn't sure how difficult it would be to install....maybe access is available behind the center control panel (no big deal) or up in a corner of the dash (bigger deal)....they've never done it before. That comment made me suspicious. I'm the only guy that's bitched about a missing compass in his car, really? I have to make an appointment to let them figure out how much it would cost to add it. I'm a little disappointed in all this as I'm sure you guys are. I also sent an email to the Dodge technical support group last night hoping to get a clearer understanding why a car with all the other features this one has wouldn't have this simple feature. I'm awaiting a response from them.
  12. I have the same issue on a new 2013 Journey Crew I just purchased. I had a compass on my 2012 Journey SXT so I was confused when I noticed it was missing in the Crew. I went through the 600+ manual I found on line but couldn't find the compass soft key in Settings that it referred to. I talked to the service dept. at the dealer this morning and they couldn't help. I plan to stop by this afternoon to let them try to figure it out. If I have success I'll post the solution. Good luck.
