  1. I figured I'd add on to this topic as I had "mech comm" error occur. If you know there's a CD / DVD in the unit.... it is jammed. Remove center console bezel: Open the small storage console on top of center console Pull the bottom right hand corner of the FULL CENTER CONSOLE towards you. Don't be shy, it's held in quite well by clips Continue to pull center console off, be aware that there are a few harnesses attached, no need to disconnect, just rotate the console sideways to reveal the radio torx screws Remove the radio torx screw Pull out radio and remove connectors (note the two round connectors are yellow/white that correspond with the radio inputs so you won't get confused) Now that you have the radio removed, remove the top cover of the radio (a few screws, and a few careful "lifts" of the front faceplate to allow it to slip off Poof! In my case, the jammed CD was staring right at me. Removed it, and all was well.
  2. In case you missed my individual topic on Snow Tires: PartRack.com helped me set up a great package that includes Blizzak DM-Z3's, one of the best snow tires in the world (he'll explain why... something about the rubber compound), and VERY cool Granite Alloy wheels, delivered to your door, with or without pressure sensors. Now that we've experienced snow in the Northeast, I can tell you that this setup works great. Awesome traction, very low noise levels, and the wheels are very cool, and give the R/T a nice "truck-ish" winter look.
  3. OK All, The winter is here, and unless you're in the sunbelt states, you're probably looking for a quick (and inexpensive) way to swap your wheels during those snow covered months. Well, In my PAST life of Viperdom (OK... so I still own one), the most impressive and consistantly least expensive vendor for everything was PARTSRACK ( Partsrack.com ). SO, I gave him a call, and sure enough, he was able to match Wheels and Tires that should fit ALL of our Journeys (I have a FWD RT, but I believe the specs won't change for any of our models). The package includes Blizzak DM-Z3's, one of the best snow tires in the world (he'll explain why... something about the rubber compound), and VERY cool Granite Alloy wheels, delivered to your door, with or without pressure sensors. Package price? About $1100. But this includes shipping, mounting, balancing, lug nuts and a great conversation with a Mopar nut. PARTSRACK is the site, Jon B is his name, and his number is 360-837-3937.
  4. OK All, Figured it out. The most important fact here is that this applies to a BASE R/T. No steering wheel EVIC switches, as these are part of an option package. PAGE 23-24 of the owners manual has the answer. You must use the key fob to change this feature: DIRECT REPRINT OF INFO FROM PAGE 23-24: SOUND HORN WITH REMOTE KEY LOCK This feature will cause the horn to chirp when the doors are locked with the transmitter. This feature can be turned on or turned off. To change the current setting, proceed as follows: For vehicles equipped with EVIC, refer to "Sound Horn with Lock", under "Personal Settings (customer programmable features)", under "Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)" in Section 4. For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, perform the following steps: 1) Press the LOCK button on a programmed transmitter for at least four seconds, but no longer than 10 secondes. The, press the PANIC button while still holding the LOCK button. 2) Release both button at the same time. 3) Test the feature while outside of the vehicle by pressing the LOCK button on the transmitter with the ignition switch in the LOCK position and the key removed. 4) Repeat these steps if you want to return this feature to its previous setting NOTE: Pressing the LOCK button on the transmitter whileyou are in the vehicle will activate the security Alarm. Opening a door with the Security Alarm activated will cause the alarm to sound. Press the UNLOCK button to deactivate the Security Alarm. Note: Reminder, as much as the manual states that this is for "Sound Horn with Remote Key Lock", this is the SAME function that forces your remote start to chirp when starting your car remotely, waking up you wife, kids, dogs and neighbors and the reason for this topic to begin with!
  5. Yes, so I access these settings... and then click enter by using the steering wheels controls? Cool! Thanks so much, I'll give it a try.
  6. Please explain. I tried every button I could think of and it didn't seem to work. Do you have the standard radio (6 cd)?
  7. Hi All, I hope on putting this in the correct Forum. I am the proud owner of an R/T FWD, no options other than Chrome Wheels (if this helps). With the colder weather coming, I've been using the remote start to warm up the interior (I know, I know... gas prices, yada, yada) prior to entering the vehicle. Rest assured this is only a 3-4 minute period... VERY little gas/noxious gases being emitted into our precious environment. Reading the Manual, there IS a way to turn off the honk, honk if you have the upgraded stereo. From what I understand, you have to change the setting for the "honk horn while locking" option. BUT, if you don't have the upgraded stereo, how do you access these options to change this feature? Thanks
