    management”**

Updating the software will correct the condition listed above.

Just went into the dealership for my 8000 km oil change (as per owner's manual) and I complained about thr shifting and driveabality issues. They found and applied the above service bulletin and the vehicle runs like a champ!! Thanks to DodgeCares for supplying me with the necessary information to lead them to this bulletin.

  2. Mmmm, I am personally not a fan of drilling holes into a vehicle, new or otherwise. I would have used automotive grade acrylic foam mounting tape instead but you did remember to silicone the screw holes before threading in the screws so that's about all you can do now.

If it becomes an issue (water build-up) maybe fill the holes with polyurethane finishing putty sand and paint, then go with the mounting tape option.

  3. Now that it's warmed up a bit, has anybody else noticed how incredibly thirsty the Journey AWD becomes in extremely cold weather?? I was getting about 16l/100km (17 mpg) when it got below zero but we ha d a spell of -30C weather (-24F or so) and mileage went all the way dowm to 21.8L/100 km (13 mpg) and is just starting to get better now. Anyone swap out diff fluids for synthetic yet?? I think that would help immensely.....hmmmm, I wonder what Chrysler Canada has to say about a fluid swap to improve overall mileage???

  4. Thanks Srtified your calculations are bang on. I just got back from Canadian Tire. I got the Goodyear Nordic Winters 235/65R17's with the X44753 steelies to replace my 2013 Journey RT 19's. They don't look smaller and they ride nice. I appreciate your help and the help of everyone else who commented.

$1100 installed with tax. A little pricey but done in an hour. I'm happy. Let it snow.

    Tony :yahoo:

    :yup: :yup: No problem!!

  5. Okay, so I sorted this thing out like this.....Macpek ( http://catalogue.macpek.com/auto-en.aspx) has 17 inch wheels that are correct, X44753 and the factory wheel/tire combo measures 28.9 inches in diameter and turns at 715 revolutions per kilometer (based on my 19 inch wheel/tire package). So the perfect combo for this 17 inch wheel is a tire size of P235/65R17 which measures at 29.1 inches diameter and rotates at 719 Revs per km. I went with the Cooper Winter Claw Extreme Grip MX tires. The Kumho Solus isn't bad at stopping and starting but throw in a little hard-pack snow or icy road....no fun!!! Now, throw in a curve too....YIKES!!!

Will let you know how this works for me over the next little while. I have to go play in an empty parking lot first :headspin:

UPDATE!!!! Okay, after our first real taste of Old Man Winter and a liberal deposit of 27cm (10 inches or so) of the white stuff I can safely say the Cooper Winter Claws are an extremely good winter tire and not very expensive.

I bought 4 wheels, 4 tires, mounted, balanced, installed and had the dealer store my summers for me. $1054 out the door!! No TPMS sensors installed, the ligh and message centre came on for about am inute or so and shut off. Haven't heard or seen anything since so all is right with the world!!

  6. Srtified,

Engine idle speed will vary depending on engine temp, A/C on or off, etc. Chrysler targets for as low an RPM as possible to reduce fuel usage and Greenhouse Emissions. Engine RPM will be high when the engine is first started and drop as the engine temp increases.

    Hope that answers your question.

It helps but what you're telling me is at a stoplight my rpms will be lower and at highway speed, they'll be higher....Really??? No kidding!!! I sorta knew that, lol!!

So it seems that my idle speed is typical...I don't like it being that low!!! I live in a cold climate and with short trips I'd like to see that idle up a little bit, say 650-700 or so. I'll check with my techs to see if they can alter idle speed with starscan.

EXACTLY!!!!! This is what needs to be done. Ima go check the build date right now and thank you for keeping us up to date!!

  9. Okay, just passed the 5000km (3000 miles) mark and a good long highway drive. So far, fuel economy is not great!! 10.9L/100km (26 mpg imp.) highway round trip on 850 kms (510 miles). I know I'm not going to get 32 like on my Avenger RT AWD but I'd like a bit more. We'll see as it gets better broken in. Transmission is a dog...very lazy downshifts for passing. Got caught on a passing lane stuck out in the lane for what seemed like forever while the tranny decided what gear it should be in, I was not amused!! NVH is excellent, no rattles/squeakes/wind noise to speak of. Ride quality is very good, a bit better than the Avenger but of course with more body roll in tight corners. All features/options work exactly as planned although I'm finding the Alpine sound system to be a little flat at lower volumes. With SSV set at 3, it's better but nowhere near the sound quality or volume levels of the Boston Acoustic sytem that the Avenger had. Maybe a different OEM supplier would help alevieate this issue. All in all, I'd give the vehicle an 8.5/10 in the expectations I had before purchase. A better fuel economy number and a tranny flash (please God...PLEASE!!) would certainly push that figure to a 9.5. Let's see how it handles a real Northern Ontario winter with all-season radials...should be interesting driving when the temps reach -20 for weeks on end...I'll keep you posted!!

  10. First road trip this weekend in the 2013 AWD Rallye and it's road manners are impecable. The engine makes a ton of tourque and revs quite willingly. The short coming is in the transmission for sure. it's an absolute slug in autostick mode and the long drawn out shift changes on the highway are really annoying. I'm sure it's a calibration issue and will be adressed in the future much as the AWD Avengers was when it was first mated with the 6 speed back in 2008. I prefer the shifting of my Avenger but the Pentastar engine is superb!! I would have bought a 2013 Avenger R/T if the had an AWD model still. I love my Avenger!!

  11. Hey Pablo, welcome!!! I will take delivery of my 2013 Storm grey R/T Rallye on Monday...I'm very excited!! When I was looking at the dealer lots, i noticed almost all had the drivers group NOT the Nav and Sound group which I couldn't quite figure out. I'll be sure to check mine over BEFORE I sign on the dotted line!!

P.S. oddly enough, my name is Paul or Paullie to my mates!!

  12. Srtified - did your dealer find the storm grey one in Alberta by chance?

Only ask as our dealer found us one there, same specs and hit was hit by a bad hail storm and had to be fully repainted, so we passed on it.

There was a bad storm that rolled through there in Aug 2012 and damaged a tonne of vehicles and last thing I want was a new truck that had already had a full body paint job.

I hope this isn't the one on its way to you!

No, it was from Port hope in Ontario.

  13. Which was your favorite? I have always had a thing for srt-4 vehicles. Loved the neons and almost bought a caliber. Decided on my 2011 JC instead. My other ride is a 91 'kota 4x4. Welcome.

    Peace.

My favourite was the one I forgot...a 1993 Dodge Shadow ES V-6 5 speed. Nice red car, I had fabbed up a ram air system for it, adavanced the timing 3 degrees, Crane supercoil with Taylor 9mm wires, ported throttle body and a custom dual exhaust set up that involved cutting off the cross-over between the two manifolds and making a y-pipe from there. That car haulled ass!!! I used to love the 5.0 litre Moustang boys crying about how they got beat by a Shadow, baaahaahaa (on the street of course...it was differnent back then as far a s street racing goes)

  14. Hey everybody!!! Some may know me from other forums, yesI am THAT Srtified, lol!!

We are looking for a 2013 Journey R/T Rallye in Storm Grey and seem to have found one. Satin Carbon wheels, Nav and Sound Group I, and sunroof. Now, we wait patiently to see what happens. I come from a long line of Dodges beginning back in 1992 with a Shadow ES V-6 then a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2004 Neon SRT-4, A 2007 Caliber SXT, a 2008 Avenger R/T AWD and currently, a 2009 Caliber SRT-4. I love Dodge's product offerings and having an uncle that works at the BRAP doen't hurt the pricing either, lol

Anyway, will check in when we take delivery , hopefully in the next couple of days or so. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians.
