  1. My PTO problem, according to the dealer, stems from bolts not being tight in the back of the unit. Oil was leaking out of these holes when the engine pressure got too high. Hopefully this won't be an issue moving forward. On a related note- this car had one owner previously, and it was under warranty with Dodge. Can the dealership view prior service (before my ownership of it) that's been done with VIN search?
  2. The dealer came back and said that the the bolts were loose in the back of the PTO unit, causing the oil to come out when the unit was under a lot of pressure. The problem is "solved" according to the dealer, but I'm hesitant to take their word for it. So, my takeaway from this incident is that there are multiple ways to address the problem- 1) Replace the entire unit; 2) Replace broken or cracked seals 3) Replaces the transfer case; 4) Check to make sure the bolts on the back of the unit are tight. I will report back if anything else happens.
  3. Did you find a fix for this? I've heard of a similar volume problem in another forum, and the suggestion was to get a software update to see if that would fix the problem.
  4. We love our new 2009 Journey R/T! We've had it for almost a month. I'm a little concerned about the leaking PTO/Transaxle <--actual link, not advertisement! We are already getting the seals replaced (under warranty still...thank goodness!). Does anyone know if this is a widespread problem with early 2009 Journeys? I've read a bunch of complaints about it....but I'm sure there are thousands of other satisfied owners. Just trying to get a little perspective on the issue. Other than that.....we love the AWD, the durability of the interior (we have a 6-year-old, and a puppy), and the ride itself. Glad to be in the forum! 5. I am having the PTO seal replaced on my 2009 Journey R/T right now. It has 73,000 miles on it, and I just purchased it. Does replacing the whole transfer case fix the problem? Should I be pushing for that with the dealer? (Or will I be dealing with this forever?)
  6. I was totally wrong on this one. The vibration stemmed from a piece of loose plastic trim on the outside of the vehicle that runs along the entire front windshield. Each side has a rubber screw to hold it in place, and the screw on the passenger side was loose. I've tightened it up and the sound disappeared.
  7. I have a 2009 Dodge Journey R/T that I just purchased. When I'm driving and listening to the radio it works fine until I hit about 65mph. Then i hear a vibration that sounds like an Australian didgeridoo instrument (buzzing vibration). (It's very annoying, but on the plus side has it has helped encourage me keep under the speed limit!) I don't think it's a blown speaker, because when I'm sitting still, I can turn up the volume and I do not hear this sound. I think it might just be something loose with the speaker assembly that needs to be tightened. Is there any way to access the speaker? It looks like the speaker cover might be removable, but I didn't want to try that without checking with someone first. Any other tips, tricks or things I should know? thanks!
