  1. I agree the size of tire is strange but the name "Kumho"? Sounds something like a WWII Japanese war movie "Tora, Tora, Tora or Bonzai!.I browsed some of the older messages here and itsounds like people are split with some saying these tires are great while others think they are garbage.

I'm a bit put off by the price since these are only car tires. My motorhome tires went for around $700 each before we unloaded the rig.

I was surprised to see sears as a dealer in Kumho but not a large supplier like Tire Kingdom. I'll have to ask my dealer if they keep these tires in stock. I would hate to have a failure and be forced into buying some other oddball tire off the rack. They seem to ride and handle decently...I hope the 2010/2011 backlog is over.

  2. Thanks for the differing replies. Hopefully they will last forever at $206 each. I will do some searching here and their web site. My main concern is not being stuck buying another off brand tire if I have a failure while traveling.

  3. My 2012 Journey Crew came with 19 inch Kumho tires. Never even heard of this brand before. I am wondering if they will be difficult to find if I have a failure? Hopefully they will be readily available. In addition I hope I will want to replace with the same tires when the time comes.

Anyone have experience with these tires? Comments?

  4. Weathertech customer service had no suggestions, just said they should fit and said I could return them for a refund. I elected to follow the trimming suggestion above. I got them to fit but made a mess of the adhesive in the process. I tried double sided carpet tape which didn't work. After leaving the rear windows closed for a week, when I opened the windows both rears fell out. I called the company and they have sent some more adhesive at no cost. I haven't installed it yet.

It sounds like it's not only me having problems with these "Custom made" additions. The fronts fit wonderfully.

  5. better be carefull about the rear windows when you roll them down. i had the same set and they were in the windows for over 2 weeks and i rolled the right one down while we were stopped and then started driving and before we were even going no more than 25mph it flew right out of the window channlle as the little stickey tape holding them in didnt work very good. ended up takeing the rears off and put them in the shed. but i love the front ones.

Just installed a new set and see what you mean about the rears...they simply do not go all the way up into the channel. I removed them and will call customer support tomorrow. I think they are too long and need to be trimmed, but don't want to mess with that until I talk to the company. Custom fit? The fronts were effortless and seemed to fit perfectly. They look so much better than the type that stick to the outside.

  6. I haven't seen a rear plate bracket before, only plate frames/covers. Can you provide a pictures of the rear bracket? Thanks.

I just discovered, after looking several times, that what I thought was a rear plate bracket was in fact the front bracket. Still haven't figured out what the second plate bracket is for...It doesn't seem to fit front or rear. I guess it would be no fun if it were simple!

I'll see if I can get a decent photo but it may take a few days. I just worked on making a cutout in the bracket to accomodate the camera housing...Not sure if it will work. Not even sure the front plate bracket will work. Not a crisis, but it would be nice if they fit.
  8. Hi frrm sunny, rainy right now, Florida,

We bought a 2102 Journey Crew last Friday and are just getting used to all the features. Have ordered a printed owner's manual since reading online doesn't always cut it. Also ordered a hitch receiver, which is back ordered and side window deflectors. The car pretty much has everything we could ever want. Love the ride and spunky engine. Have been trying to determine if we have the latest maps in the Garmin GPS, which is a chore since garmin doesn't make the unit but only provides the operating system.

I am happy to have found this forum dedicated to the journey and hope to be an active member.
