  1. I asked the cleanup guy at my dealership what they use to clean these chrome clad rims. He said to use Windex and #3 steel wool...he claimed it will not scratch. I did my two rear rims in this way and they look great...the clean up was relatively easy and I put on a coat of wax afterward. I saw no scratching. Lord knows what will happen after using this technique repeatedly.

  2. Well, yesterday they replaced the suspect cable...Didn't fix the problem. They are ordering new replacement camera now. We can only hope. The camera has returned to operational and then died several times while we waited for the cable.

Just before we went back to the dealer's shop for the camera our individual temperature controls went on the blink. The shop fixed that claiming it was a loose connection. before the repair the left control would go up but not down and just the opposite on the right control. Neat having all these hi-tech electronics but it seems they are just problems waiting to happen.

  3. Yes that addresses putting tthe repaired wheel/tire back in the same location it was removed from. But I would imagine if it can update itself there, it should update for any wheel or wheels. I suppose I could dump some air from one tire to see if it reads the correct location, but I'm just too darn lazy! LOL

    Thanks for the reply

You're right it doesn't specifically mention the tire rotation but it does mention replacing a tire with info on how long and fast you need to drive for the sensors to automatically detect. I would assume it would also apply to a tire rotation once tires are set to its new location.

Once you repair or replace the original road tire and
reinstall it on the vehicle in place of the compact spare,
the TPMS will update automatically. In addition, the
“Tire Pressure Monitoring Telltale Light” will turn off
and the graphic in the EVIC will display a new pressure
value instead of dashes (- -), as long as no tire pressure is
below the low-pressure warning limit in any of the four
active road tires. The vehicle may need to be driven for
up to 20 minutes above 15 mph (24 km/h) in order for the
    TPMS to receive this information.
  4. I visited Garmin's website to check on the update. A warning listed there says the map update is only for RHB and RB5 units and claims that number should be on the lower right corner of the radio...Unless I'm blind it's not on mine. Does anyone have a clue whare these numbers are?

FYI, for anybody with a 2011-2012 with the 8.4N radio, the 2013 map update is available for sale on www.navigation.com for $149 + shipping and taxes.

From the website, this update is compatible with the following vehicles that have either the 430N or 8.4N (both Garmin nav) radios:

  5. Got a call this morning from Dodge Customer Assist and the nice lady said my hitch should be available sometime this month...Hopefully by the middle of the month. I sure hope it was worth the long wait. I m impressed that since I contacted these folks that they have checked into the issue and are keeping in touch.

  6. We've had our 2012 Journey for about 6 months and already the warning that our mapping software is out of date popped up yesterday. I wonder if it will already cost us the $190 upgrade fee if we elect to go that route? That sure seems pretty hefty since I paid something like $80 for lifetime updatef for my Garmin Nuvi stand alone unit.

Will this "Out of date" warning continue to pop up every time we turn the unit on? If so, is there a way to override the warning?

    Thanks in advance

  7. Jeez! Is everything Dodge backordered? We are still waiting for our hitch after many months!

This is on behalf of White2013JourneyGirl,

The navigation unit is defective according to the dealer.

They have the part on order, but it is back ordered and they don’t know when it will arrive.

Journey girl is pretty pissed about it as she has a brand new truck with no navigation.

While it is probably not common, it is still very annoying.

@DodgeCares: Anything you can do about speeding up the delivery of the navigation unit to our dealer. Feel free to PM me.

  8. I had the same thing when I first installed my front weathertech visors, they do settle in eventually and allows for normal auto up/down operation.

Thanks...I certainly hope they will settle in. Right now the auto window feature is almost worthless. Funny I don't seem to have this problem on the passenger side, only the driver's side. Hopefully the passenger side has already settled.

  9. Did anyone notice when someone is sitting in the passenger seat with the storage bin it creaks when going over bumps and such.

It sounds as iff the various plastics that make up the bin are rubbing against each other.

Try sitting in it and rocking around to see what I mean.

    Very annoying!

Same here...I tried spraying some silicone on the plastic but that didn't help. Will ask the dealer to take a look at it when we go in for our next service.

  10. That's interesting...I had a problem with the auto feature when I pushed up and let it go. It went all the way up and then about 1/2 way down. This happened with several tries until I realized I had added the in channel plastic window guards. I now believe the window was detecting something in the channel and using its safety feature to avoid damaging a finger. All these electronic

doo-dads are neat but can also be frustrating.

  11. I've noticed that when getting out sometimes with the vehicle running and key in my pocket the fob warning goes off and even if I put the fob back on the dash through the window it doesn't go off. However if I open and close the door it picks up the fob on the dash and all is good. It seems that once its picked up the key has left it doesn't rescan for it until the door is opened again. Not completely what you're seeing but still something interesting I've discovered about our fob system.

Interesting! The only time the door was involved thus far was when the wife started the car and had to get out because she had forgotten something. When she got back in the alarm "key not detected" was showing and gonging. Other times it just displayed when trying to start the vehicle. Will have to try the door next time, although it usually only happens once and then starts normally. I'm beginning to wonder if our cell phones are somehow interferring with the signal? Or maybe, like with computers, it's sunspots in some distant galaxy? Thanks for the reply.

  12. walker,

I recommend getting your DJ to your dealer with both keys.

They will start with your Fobs and work their way from there.

It happens from time to time and very easy to remedy with most likely a reprogramming of the ignition module.

Let us know how you make out.

Took the car in to a Dodge dealer service center this morning. They claim to have checked the transmitter and receiver, with both keys, but could find no errors becuase they couldn't duplicate the problem. They said all the programming was the latest and just to watch it. If it occurs again, get it to a dealer. Since it's been a sporadic issue, I imagine it's difficult to diagnose. We do feel better having had it checked though. I just hope it doesn't come to the one day it won't start at all.

    Thanks for the reply

  13. I would simply try replacing the battery to see if that solves the problem. It may be that battery, and hence, the signal are low. I would try that as its the easiest possible solution. If the error continues, I would take it for service. Good luck.

    Peace.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Since this issue has happened with both key fobs I doubt it is the battery in both since we've only had the car since May. It was manufactured in December of 2011, so is less than a year old and the manual claime sthe batteries should last 3 years.

  14. I bought the wife a new 2012 Journey sxt in May and dealer says hitch is still backordered any one else having issues .we have all ready lost the summer cant tow atv trailer to the cottage have to take two vehicles (we have reg cab cummins truck no room for kids)

Yup our hitch has been back ordered since May also...2012 journey Crew. Annoying, to say the least! If we haven't heard anything by the middle of next month we may ask for additional help. I must admit we were warned that the backorder could be a lengthy wait, but it's getting ridiculous.

  15. We've had our 2012 Journey Crew V-6 since May and love it except for a few oddities. We have recently been getting a sporadic error when trying to start the engine that shows "Key not detected." However when we have received this error the key is either in my pocket or in my wife's purse and in the vehicle. We've even received that error when both key fobs were in the vehicle. On one occasion the wife had the car running when this error came up and the alarm dinged.

Haven't had a chance to have my dealer check this out yet but was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. Does anyone have any idea what causes this problem?

  16. My front brakes recently went to hell and the dealership quoted me $230 yesterday for new pads and turn the rotors. I knew of the extended warranty but never recieved a notice but I am the second owner of this SXT. So I called Chrysler Cus. Service and asked about the ext warranty and they said mine is covered with $100 deduct.(27000 miles). I called back my service advisor and informed him and he sounded unaware of it until I gave him the warranty code X30 that the cus. service rep gave me. I took it back in today and got it taken care of, 100 is better than 230. But a vehicle with 27000 miles should not be on its third set of pads unless chyrsler did poor engineering to save money and/or weight.

Do the 2012 Journeys still have the same brake problem? If so are they also covered by the extended warranty?
