  1. I recently bought a used 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad with the 8.4N Alpine sound system (368Watts). I noticed right away that something was wrong with the sound quality. The overall sound was "muddy", the bass was pathetic, but worst of all, it was too "bright" (too much treble). I set the MID and TREBLE to the lowest setting but the sound was still too bright - painfully so. And this is from mp3 files from SD and USB but also store bought cd's and SIRIUS XM. I also noticed that the Speed Sensitive Setting did not work at all. After reading the posts on this site and other mopar sites, I replaced all door speakers with JBL GX 962 6X9's (making sure they were 2ohms). The sound quality greatly improved! It was clear, not muddy and the bass was better. But it was still way too bright (high pitch). I also updated the Radio and Navigation software and went to my Chrysler dealer to have the system checked. They said everything was fine and up to date. (I also emailed Uconnect and they said to go to the dealer). Meanwhile, when I go on family road trips, my family also can't handle the high pitch sound for too long. My previous vehicle was also a Dodge Journey; a 2009 with the 368Watt INFINITY sound system. With no modifications, the sound was Amazing during the 11 years that I owned the car. I had the BASS at -4 which was more than enough for today's music, the MID was at 0 and the TREBLE was at +8. What I'm trying to figure out is: is this high pitch sound normal for a Mopar Alpine system or is there a defect somewhere? I've read posts where people had a similar problem that got fixed with a software update (I updated mine - to no effect). And other posts where people had their Alpine amplifiers replaced at the dealer - under warrantee. One post mentioned a common problem called a "FIRMWARE ERROR" (my dealer never heard of this); and another post mentioned that Alpine amplifiers in Journey's are known to "LOCK UP" a lot. I'd be okay with buying an OEM Alpine amplifier if I was 100% sure it would solve this problem as it costs about $300 with no possibility of a refund. An aftermarket car audio shop told me it would cost about $800 to get rid of the high pitch sound. So, has anyone else had this problem, and what did you do about it? Thanks.
  2. Hi 2016Limited Were you able to fix the problem? Do you know about the dip switches? I recently installed a new lockpick (C8 PRO) for my 2016 Journey Crossroad and it works. https://www.coastaletech.com/c8lockpick.htm
  3. A chrome clad wheel is an aluminum wheel with chromed plastic wheel cover permanently glued to it. This permanent wheel cover is made specifically for the aluminum wheel it's glued to. This is more common today. I once read that the reason car companies are doing this is to prevent rust and peeling of the chrome. I myself still wouldn't buy this type of wheel though.
  4. This can't be done for two reasons: 1. Different bolt pattern (see nerner's post) 2. Different offset. The lowest offset the Journey can have is 34mm. Any less will cause the wheels to stick out past the fenders. The Challenger AND Jeep rims are less than 35mm (probably in the 20's) I'm finding it very hard to find aftermarket rims for my Journey that are not convex (upside down bowl shape). Concave rims, like the ones on the challenger, are pretty much out of the question. Also, the Journey has a rare bolt pattern. Your Challenger's tires (245/45/20) are the right size, though. You just have to find compatible 20" rims.
  5. Probably a bad idea. I've been looking for a new set of 20" rims and tires as well. I've found out that the rim should be 8.5" wide and that the tire should be 245/45 or 245/50. The offset shouldn't be less than +34mm. Also, have you checked the bolt pattern? The Journey takes a 5x127mm (or 5x5") bolt pattern only and wheels with this bolt pattern are not very common. You might like SAVINI's "Black Di Forza" wheels. Also, check out elementwheels.com and wheelsnext.com to find the right sized wheels for the Journey. As for me, I can't decide between the Savini Black di forza BM6 or the Status Retro S818. Maybe I'll put it off 'til next year.
  6. I'm having a hell of a hard time looking for 20" rims for my Journey. I'm looking for a five spoke in chrome with a sporty look (as opposed to a 4x4 look). I'm also trying to avoid the convex shaped wheels. I want something that Dodge would use if it made an SRT version of the Journey. The Jeep Cherokee SRT8 wheel looks nice but - at 10" wide - is too wide for the Journey. I'm also looking at the Giovanna Dalar 5 (too expensive) and the Status Retro S818, which looks great on a mustang or challenger but probably wouldn't match with the Journey. I love the look of the Mania Racing Savoy wheels a member from Australia had on their Journey but they aren't available in North America and I can't find anything similar that would fit. Any suggestions? (other than the fact that I'm being too picky)
  7. So, did you end up getting those replica wheels? If so, how are they? And where did you find Jeep Cherokee SRT8 replicas that would fit a Journey???
