  1. I'm curious to how your time would compare with letting the tranny in "D" and just letting it do its own thing. I am quite impressed by how the transmission keeps the revs up when you are hard on the gas from a stop. It seems to be programmed to keep the revs up under hard acceleration. How about one more run for the records; this time in D. ??

  2. The expensive key replacement problem has been going on for some time now. I wanted a spare just unlock the doors on my 08 PT Cruiser so I got a $5.00 one that would open the doors. I want to get one for my Journey now just in case the odd situation should arise. Hopefully I never leave my FOB in my dirty pants pocket......

In my opinion there is a bigger issue that salespeople/manufacturers have with these new vehicles. It is these ridiculously sized tires/wheels that they put on vehicles that cost a fortune to replace when they wear out. Other than the looks, they do not seem to benefit anything. I've been selling tires for about 20 years now and it gets worse all the time. The worst part is telling a customer how much they are when they have NO CLUE as to what they are in for. Why does a small "cross-over", "utility", "station wagon" have to have a 225/55/19 tire on it? And do the salespeople warn a customer that they will be spending about a thousand bucks every 18months for tires? Of course not; they need to sell cars.

Sorry I got off the key FOB subject here, but the tire thing really twists me.

  3. Find a suitable product and spray it on yourself if you want to add more stain repellant. I worked at 3 different Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler dealerships as a the clean-up guy. One of the biggest profit products they used to sell was "Stain Repellant" and "Corrosion Protection Application". The prices they charged were outrageous for both items. They actually had a guy come in and apply both items. It took him 30 minutes total to do both. That was the late 1980's and early 90's. The salesman just salivated when they sold these "add-ons".

I've never used these products myself. We have a good Bissell carpet cleaner that we use in the house and use it on the car seats about once a year or when a bad stain pops up. I think that drb227 might also be correct about the built in stain repellant in the factory seats/fabric.

  4. I have a 2012 Dodge Journey Crew FWD with the 8.4 UConnect system. I have two questions regarding accessories.

    1. Has anyone come across seat covers for a 2012 Journey yet? A couple of parts suppliers I deal with say that no one is offering covers for the 2012 model yet. The 2011's are different because of armrests & airbags.

    2. This vehicle does not have the backup camera or Navigation. The camera does not interest me, but I'm curious as to what it would take to add the navigation to the existing Uconnect system. Has anyone done this or know whats involved to add it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  5. Hello all. I got my 2012 Journey Crew FWD last week. Unfortunately I cannot say that I own it because it is a company leased vehicle. I have to say, though, that it is quite a step up from my 2008 PT Cruiser with a manual trans that I had before. It was hard to keep the foot out of the "go" pedal for the first 1,000mi. but I got to give it a little juice yesterday on the way home. That 3.6 just pulls like a freight train. 5,000RPM seems to be the sweet spot.

I haven't seen a whole lot of Journey's here in NE PA and after driving this one for two weeks I don't see why. Lots of room, good visibility, great features and loads of power. This thing is awesome!
