  1. I had this problem with my 2011 Journey. After several "unless we see it we don't believe it" responses (aka: loose nut behind the wheel), I finally managed to get it to the dealer while it was misbehaving. Since the problem was then finally verified, they started working on it. The car spent more time with the dealer than with me. I would get it back, and the next cold morning -- nada. The dealer finally replaced the radio with one that had almost the same serial number, and it did not fix the problem (surprise?). After that, they kept it for a week (and paid for the rental car). They finally replaced the radio a second time, and that seemed to fix it. It did however, break the IPOD features. I figured I could live without being able to control the IPOD from the screen, since I used it mainly on long trips and I was very tired of the dealership. However, it is now 13 months later, and this morning -- no AM/FM again. I think I need to get rid of this car. I can't go through another round of back and forth with the dealer.Too bad. Otherwise I like the car. But I need the radio for the traffic reports.
  2. Got the same problem on cold days. Restarting the engine makes the radio come on. Dealer says there is no problem, can't replicate, can't verify my complaint, no codes, etc. In other words, they have no idea what is wrong and therefore, will do nothing to fix it. Since I have a limited number of days that I can take off, I have been living with this since the start of winter. It has been back to the dealer three times for the same thing. I am so annoyed I am seriously considering dumping the car, which seems stupid because of a crummy radio.
  3. Finally was able to drop the car off for a day at the dealer. I picked a day when it was supposed to get cold overnight. I typed up a note explaining the history, the suggestions from the forum, etc. The service manager had left for the night when I got there, but I wanted to leave it there outside for the night anyway. Next morning, I did not hear from them first thing, like I usually do. I finally called around 10:30AM, and they said they were looking at it at that time. It was already getting warm. Of course, by the time they got to my vehicle, the radio was working. "Unable to verify complaint." Like I am a moron who does not know how to turn on a radio???? "No fault codes," as I told them. "No TSB's". Dealership "tightened up the wiring harnesses" and installed two software updates: 08-016-11 and 08-008-12. I am not sure what they were supposed to fix. But a couple of days later, when the temperature dropped again -- no radio. Again. So apparently there is no fix for this problem, or else I need to go to special training to learn how to operate my radio.
  4. Thanks Dodgecares. I wound up cancelling my appointment, since the advisor said they will not look at it unless the radio is acting up when I bring it in. The problem is intermittant and was NOT happening on the day of my appointment. Of course, it happened again right after that. And I just have not been able to get over to the dealer when it does happen. It does not help that after 20 minutes or so the FM comes on. The dealer is 15 minutes from my house, and unless the advisor will hotfoot it out to my (still running) vehicle, it is unlikely it will STILL be not working when he gets there (sigh). Like another poster said, I tried restarting the car, and that usually works. But I don't think that is a viable long-term solution. I will ask the dealer to check the bulletin you mentioned. Of course, that means taking ANOTHER day off from work....
  5. I had this problem several times. (I too bought my Journey in Feb 2011) Dealer kept telling me "no problem found" because I was able to jump it and drive it over. Last time it happened, I had them tow the car over and leave it there dead. Amazingly, they found there was a software update that was needed because some module kept waking itself up and eventually drained the battery. I hope and pray they have finally fixed this.
  6. I have been following this post because I have the problem with no AM/FM radio in the morning with my 2011 Journey. We've had a pretty mild winter and until recently the morning temperatures have not been below 25F or so. My car was in for service for the dead battery issue, and it may actually now be fixed. The dealer in total applied three software fixes and replaced the amp on the radio because apparently all of these came up when he put in my VIN (one of the fixes was supposed to fix the dead battery). The next cold morning, I found that I have satellite radio only -- no AM/FM. Took it back to the dealer, but got a "no problem found" -- the night temp did not drop below 32F. I made an appointment to bring it back next week, since we have a forecast for some cold nights.
