  1. I just had a similar issue it was the AGR valve that had to be replaced. It costed about $500 to replace.
  2. I just had this repaired in August 2013 on my Journey 2010.
  3. It's been 2 years since the last problem I've had and guess what? I have exactly the same issue. I have had to pay for premium gas all these years because that's what was suggested only to have the same problem. There has to be a defect in the engine. After they fixed the issue, has anyone else had it reoccur?
  4. Thanks so much. The did say they had to update the computer program, but because I don't have the paper work yet, as my car is still in the shop, I don't know exactly what it was for. I'll PM you the info.
  5. Thanks for replying Bob. I have written to Chrysler Canada about this and it helps to know I am not alone. I suggested they find out what the problem is and replace the engine. My car is still in the shop as well. They actually opened cylinder 5 to see what's happening inside *GASPS* hopefully they will get to the bottome of it. Let me know what you find out please.
  6. OK so this sounds very familiar to the problem I have been having. I have a Dodge Journey R/T 2010 with 44,000 KM's on it. When I took it into the dealership they said engine was misfiring and the problem was in cylinder 5, they changed the spark plugs, coil, did the leak test and a carbon cleanse cause they said I had carbon build up. I questioned how that could be in a brand new vehicle and he blamed the gas I was using. I told him I use the gas the manufacturer specs indicate and he had no answer. We won't go into the Customer Service issues I have with this particular dealership, but as soon as I left the dealership, I have the same problem. Because I did not have confidence in the dealerships ability to take my concerns serious, I took it to another dealership and sent 2 letters to Chrysler Canada so far. I just got a call from the other dealership, claiming that they are getting the same reading and that the engine was still misfiring and that the problem was still in cylinder 5, but that now they were taking it apart to clean manually because there is carbon build up. Of course I questioned how that can be and the fact that there has to be some other under lying reason. BTW my engine also revs up when you put it on cruise control, which they answered and said they changed the computer program. WHAT? Anyway, did any of you ever figure out what the cause of the issue was?
  7. OMG so they messed up and expected you to pay for the problem they caused? I would not be taking that lightly. I really think the service you get depends on the dealership and that Chrysler the company should really take our complaints about the individual dealerships that are doing a half arsed job seriously and offer some sort of compensation for the inconveinance caused. Especially when the vehicle is still under manufacturers warranty. We build houses and if a product we installed in a home fails due to defect in workmanship or product, we have to repair or replace at no cost to the owner. I hate when I see a passing of the buck for responsibility. I would investigate this issue further because their story does not sound convincing to me.

  9. I have been trying to browse the forum as best as I can and so far I have not seen a comment of anyone having this issue. My Dodge Journey R/T 2010's engine is sick I think. It has only 44,000 KM's and is under warranty, but it's really acting up. At first I thought it was the transmission cause when I put my foot on the gas to accelerate, the whole car shakes and I feel it in the transmission when I let my foot of the gas. Also when I put my car on cruise control, the engine revs up into the red. This actually cause a very unsafe situation as I was on the highway when it happened and had to pull the vehicle over, turn of the car and start it up again. This happened several times. The first dealership I went to said there was carbon build up and suggested it was because of the gas I was using. Of course I retorted back that there must be a defect if the manufacturers specs does not indicate that I have to use a higher grade Petroleum. Have any of you with an R/T 2010 have carbon build up and had to use a higher grade Petroleum? They said that the engine was misfiring in cylinder 5 and they did a leak test, ect..., changed the spark plugs, coil, ect... and did a cleanse to get rid of the carbon build up. But as soon as I left the dealership, it was still shaking when I would accelerate. I won't get into the Customer Service issues I had at the first dealership, but that caused me not to have very much confidence in their ability to fix the problem when it was still happening. So I took it to another dealership where they were more sympathetic to my plight. Just got a call today from them claiming that they are opening cylinder 5 up to clean manually cause there is carbon build up. How is this possible? There has to be another underlying problem. Has any of you experienced this issue?
  10. I was so happy to stumble across this forum. I noticed most everyone that owns this vehicle has had positive experiences. That was mine in the beginning as well until my engine started to rev up into the red on the highway and everytime I put my foot on the gas to accelerate the entire vehicle started to shake. There is only 44,000 KM's on this vehicle. Has anyone else had this problem?
