  1. So mine was looking like this:

I took it back to the dealer and complained twice. On the second go, they pulled the bumper off and checked the clips. They told me they could not get the clips any tighter or install more clips because there's nowhere to mount them, HOWEVER, what the body shop did do was use urethane and basically glue the bumper in place along that top edge. You can't see anything on the exterior, but they told me they used basically the same thing they use to put windshields in place. They said they would be surprised if it moved again.

  2. That's what I figured, I emailed Dodge US about ordering one from there but haven't heard anything back.

The car was a trade-in at a Ford dealer in the US. The badge was missing when they got it so they don't know what happened. I guess it just fell off.

A trade in? On a 2011? Did the owner have the car for 6 months? Wonder why they dumped it.

  3. I have been loving my journey but this kph problem has been annoying. Great forum.

I just had mine in for an oil change 2 weeks ago and I asked the dealer to flash the EVIC. At first the service advisor started to say, "well, I'm not sure if there's an update out yet..." and I responded by telling them the message boards online had several people getting the update from their dealers so yes, it is out. They mumbled something about checking into it, but when I got the car back they had done it and the problem is finally fixed!

  4. I don't know if I have the Alpine System, but I have the 4.3 Uconnect and I have the same issue, these speakers just can't handle bass, period. Listening to radio and Sirius, I could turn the bass up without too many issues, but once I plugged my iPod in for music, I had to turn bass back to neutral to stop the terrible distortion. So, I definitely need to replace these speakers with higher quality ones, such as the ones mentioned by moondwagon above. How much did those run ya btw?

Keep in mind that if you use the iPod's internal EQ that it does affect the line out signal when it is docked as well. So if you have the iPod on an EQ setting where the bass is boosted, then that will mean you're getting a ridiculous amount of bass signal going to the head. Set your iPod's EQ as "flat" and then see how your system handles it.

  5. I have the 09 Journey SXT and like most people that I have talked to my mirror/sun glasses holder keeps falling open. As on now I have a piece of paper wedged up between the crack to keep it shut. Does anyone know how to fix this?

2009 model? Should still be under warranty. Take it in.

  6. The answer is, whenever you feel like it. If you're at a stop, it will be in 1st gear when you pop over to autostick. If you're say, driving at highway speed, it will be in 6th when you pop into autostick. There are safeguards in place to keep you from doing anything that would harm the engine - for example, it won't let you keep slapping it down to 1st gear at highway speed.

I've found it useful on the highway when I want to pass. It's easier to manually kick the transmission down to 4th than standing on the gas pedal and waiting for the tranny to figure out what I'm trying to do. I also found it useful when climbing steeper hills. It's just like an older style automatic where you had "D, 3, 2, 1" - you could drop it down whenever you needed it. Autostick is just more fancy.

  7. Got and oil change (as usual).

They reflashed the EVIC and it now stays in km/h!!!

I have to bring it back next week for a part that's on order. The complaint (or maybe TSB) code is "RRT 11-066". The only description is "Amp". Not sure what that's all about.

Also asked them to look at the rear fascia and the way the corners below the tail lights are popping out. They said they fixed it but when I went outside the passenger side was out about 1/4 inch again. I went back inside and complained. They had a body shop guy come look and this is apparently something very common on the Journey as there's only one clip further down on the corner. He told the service guy to order a few more clips and they'd install them next time I've got it in. I have to bring it back in for the above mentioned "Amp" anyway.

  8. Congrats on the excellent mileage, :) I, personally have never reached that. My personal best is 9.3L/100 on a very flat highway that is double lane 60% of the time although it was very early on in the history of my car. I would suspect that my mileage is improved somewhat by now.

Unfortunately that great gas mileage is just one mement in time (albeit a good one). I have tracked my mileage since 'Day 1' and over 40 fillups I have an average of 15.6L/100 over 13,000 kms (7800 miles) as can be seem by "My Fuelly" badge in my signature. Unfortunately I still think 15.6 is still a little high, but it is coming down over summer with a little bit more highway driving.

    Terry

I too was surprised at how good that was! It's crept up to over 9.0 after driving a bit in the city, but still excellent mileage especially considering I was carrying myself and 4 adult passengers the entire way.

The power was excellent on the hills around Kenora. Some of them pretty steep too! Absolutely didn't have to strain the engine at all.

  9. Interesting post. Have you taken that problem with the screen going out up with the dealer? Could be a warranty issue.

I agree with you about the A-pillars (the vertical bar you mentioned). I too came from a Caravan (2006 model) and I found the visibility impacted by the A-pillars in the Journey. It took some getting used to. I've found it mainly to be a problem when turning left as I can't actually see where I'm going.

The 8.4 system has it's own quirks that we're all hoping will be fixed when the software update comes (Chrysler says it's coming). I think we all have the issue with the EVIC defaulting to MPH. Apparently there is a fix for it at the dealer and there is a thread on here about it.

  10. Keep in mind that's the fleet buying guide - ie. rentals, government, company cars. Some options may not be available to the public.

That is interesting about the paint colours though since the three discontinues were the three that had problems due to the Japan supplier.

Any Journey that is factory ordered right now will be a 2012 model as production has ended on the 2011's. I think there are next to no real changes between the 11/12 model years.

  11. Yeah, a couple weeks in and I found one of the "SRS Airbag" logos lying in the rear cargo area. It had popped off the C pillar. Recently noticed the rear fascia is not very securely mounted as the corner keeps popping out where it meets the quarter panels by the tail lights. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Journey, but some of these early quality issues have me... concerned for the long term with this vehicle.

  12. On my 2011, I've noticed that the rear bumper (fascia) isn't staying well aligned where it meets the body panels. The line over by the rear headlamps - the plastic rear fascia keeps sort of "popping out". I can push it back in and it stays for a while but after a while I'll look and it'll be popped out again. It's like there's no bolt or clip behind it to keep it locked down...

    Anyone else seen this?

  13. It appears that the remaining inventory of R/T's in western Canada that have 7 seats appear to have either the Uconnect voice or the Garmin navigation (but not both). As I want both, I'm told that I may have to wait until the 2012 model is available.

However, I'm getting some conflicting information from two dealers in British Columbia. A Victoria dealer is telling me that I may have to wait until January 2012 for the 2012 model Dodge Journey. A Vancouver dealer is telling me that pricing for the 2012 model should be available within a couple of weeks, with production (in Mexico) starting in about a month. The 2012 Journey should be showing up at dealers in mid-September. As these are two very different "stories" - can anyone tell me what the real situation is?

According to Chrysler insiders over at the Allpar forums, production on the 2011's has already ended. Dealers cannot even order a 2011 at this point. 2012's should start showing up pretty shortly.

  14. Hey Geer,

Since we're both in the 'peg, I'm curious to know which dealer this was.

Never mind. I can see the dealer badge in your photos. Based on your experience, I'm surprised you've left the dealer's plate brackets and sticker on there.

We dealt with Eastern and it was an AMAZING experience! We went there because they were the only local dealer on the Car Cost Canada program. We got a great deal and they treated us like gold from the first contact to the moment we drove away. This was the third car I'd bought from a dealer, and the second brand new, and I can't say enough how different the experience was at Eastern. I HIGHLY recommend.
